General Kingdom Hearts Fanfiction Thread

I don't know where to fit Lightning, which is why I put her in with the Forces of Light.

The Warrior of Light can go anywhere, as long as said world is fantasy.

In fact, almost every FF character that's debuting are in the military. It's almost like I want demonstrate how many homes and lives that the new Organization XIII destroyed or something.

Put WOL in something like The Black Cauldron.

Lightning is overused as it is.

EVA Unit 01: Which is why I'm deconstructing her.

The Warrior of Light (Who as I've said is a much older gentleman) is with the Forces of Light (Name Pending) protecting Cosmos.

What's there to deconstruct?

I'm making her younger (and thus more rash) and giving her the baggage that she had in her game (Her sister being turned into a crystal and being forced to lead a ragtag team that includes every playable character in XIII plus Vaan.). And did I mention that this is pre character development Lightning? So, she also is a massive Jerkass who treats her men like unnessary baggage. Great.

But don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing Lightning because I don't like her or anything. Okay, I do dislike her for reasons, like her character development and the fact that her fans keep on 'forgetting' that Lightning WASN'T a nice person at the start of her bizarre adventure. And by 'wasn't a nice person' I mean a total bitch. And not like Ashe from XII who had good reasons (or ones that came off as more believable) to be bitter and even then Ashe had moments where she was nice. Lightning? Other then her forced character development with Hope, (who I actually like) not really. Oh, the most petty of all, she's a Red Mage, my favorite class. Why Square...?

So...it's not out of character that in my fic, I had her act like, for want of a better term, a total bitch to Sora and Co.?

Pre-Character Development!Lightning would be completely in character. Post Character Development!Lightning would be out of character.

Well, considering this doesn't take place in the FFXIII universe, I guess the answer is "no"?

@Karkat: It depends on Lightning's situation.

As I established before. Cloud's general mood in KHII is fairly similar to what it is in AC, but AFAWK it doesn't make sense for him to be. So if Lightning is in a situation where it makes sense for her to be Captain Bitchfest MacBadass (because she's still one of the best fighters), then by all means go for it.

Oh, and I think that the Land of Eidolans should be it's own world.

The reason why classes and subclasses are going to be a thing: The military needs some way to organize everyone abilities and what they're going to be training in.

The term "Eidolon" is used in both IX and XIII, y'know... IDR if IV had a particular term for Summons...

FFIV called them Eidolons from the DS version onward.

I thought such was the case, but couldn't be sure.

So, I just realized how much more of a Fantasy-Kitchen Sink I just made the KH-verse.

I think I'm going to reconstruct Training From Hell.

Oh and before I knew it, I was unintentionally referencing the beginning of FFII.

I plan for everyone (And I mean EVERYONE.) to call Young Xehanort out on his acceptance of his future self.

I think it'd be pretty interesting to see a KH version of Lightning. And the idea of playing with ages certainly isn't unprecedented, with Leon being 25 and the Destiny Islands kids being so much younger. Admittedly, I haven't taken those kind of liberties... barring Cait Sith being an actual, independent character instead of a puppet controlled by Reeve. I figure he'd fit into Disney Castle better that way.

Meanwhile, I'm puzzling how to best organize the extended cast in my AU for the next fic. It's gonna essentially be the "KH 2" of the story, but there are a lot of circumstantial differences, like the Organization having more members and there being more Keybearers. We're talking Riku, Kairi, Aqua, Riku Replica, Xion, and Mickey.

Xion's gonna be off on her own for a while for rather spoilery reasons. Riku Replica will probably be looking for her and continuing to try and live up to his original. Riku, Kairi, Donald, and Goofy are the main focus and will be handling the bulk of the Disney Worlds. I just need to figure out how to best use Aqua.

My current thoughts are that she and Mickey could warn the worlds of the coming danger of the Organization to try and prevent them from pulling more people into the darkness. At the same time, the two could look for a way to reach TWTNW, which is currently being shielded to prevent the heroes from barging in the front door. Plus, Aqua wants to find Xemnas and get some answers.

Also, are we to just assume that Mickey was mostly searching for Ansem the Wise during KH 2? I'm gonna replay KH 2 Final Mix just to make sure I got my facts straight, but I figure looking at what he was doing there could help shape his actions in my fic a bit.

So, I haven't been talking about the original characters or Disney. Let's change that.

I'm thinking about deconstructing Sora's Idiot Hero status, by making him a commander and thus in charge of some of the main strategies. He'll mess up royally without some help and Sora would probably go into a Heroic BSoD at the possible deaths that he caused because of his skills (or lack there of) at large-scale warfare. Out of original trio, Sora is going to appear last as he'll be on the front lines and I want to nicely (and subtly) hammer in the deconstruction elements in this fic.

Riku is going to sortie with our team for a few worlds (The Incredibles, Windknight's Lot and Southern Cross.) to see how the promising ragtag band of misfits operate in missions with high stakes, big rewards. Is going to take over as leader when (SPOILERS) happens until we choose a leader.

Kairi is a tough one.

IIRC, death as we know it doesn't exist in Kingdom Hearts.

At least, not for the Original Generation characters.

The closest equivalent would be turning into a Heartless, and we've seen how permanent that is (although again, for the OG characters....)

I prefer to ignore that. I mean, if I did, that would mean one of the major premises of my fanfic would go down the drain.

I think that death can exist, but whether or not it's permanent is up for debate. There's a popular theory that the Foretellers are past lives of the majority of the main Keyblade wielders, for one. So it could just mean that hearts never die.

Nomura's so ambiguous that it's really hard to say. That people have used words like kill/die/dead in canon suggests the possibility, however. "Take Aqua's life," for one.

Then, on the safe side, I declare my fic to be AU. Shit, it already was AU when I decided to incorperate Dissidia into the main plot and not use 3D as I hated how Xehanort reached Villain Sue levels.

On another note, I decided to use Kairi for the Kingdom of Arendelle arc. She'll appear as an ambassador for the Forces of Light... and absolutely hate it. Oh and having to deal with a magical musical assassin who casts various spells via his electric guitar doesn't help.

Donald is going to take a level up in badass due to fridge logic. Donald is the greatest mage in the kingdom.

I'll figure out what to do, later.

Haha, it's funny you mention Xehanort reaching villain sue levels. When KH 3 D first came out, I had to really think about how to integrate it into my fic since... well, let's just say Antipode Xemnas has absolutely no reason to want more Xehanorts in the world. Because he's essentially a very messed up Terra with all of Xemnas' quirks. So, I decided to stick to my guns, base his ambitions on what we knew of his plan in KH 2 (new world, power over the heart, etc), and have the whole Xehaborging thing still be Master Xehanort's INTENDED goal. It just... doesn't happen the way he planned/hoped. :') This'll turn the AU's equivalent of 3D into Xehanort grappling to get his plan back on the rails with... mixed results.

I really dig the idea of Kairi in Arendelle because I think the setting would suit her well. Especially with her having spent so much time on the islands, essentially cut off from her friends while they were off journeying. And you can never have too much badass Donald.

Need to do the same for Goofy, then, since he's the Captain of the Royal Guard. I mean, think about it. This is the guy trusted with the responsibility for defending Disney Castle and its residents (obviously including King Mickey and Queen Minnie).
