Hey, I've been looking at this RP for a while now. I'm thinking of joining at some pointnote , and I have a couple questions.

-From what I'm gathering, this RP has a drop-in, drop-out format. Is that true?

-Most of my potential characters don't have exact avatars, due to being OCs (short of being drawn, either by myself or having someone else doing it). I do have avatars/faceclaims in my gallery that I use as close-ish approximations and to get a feel of what they're like, and I can give a more detailed description than average to compensate as well. How does that sound?

Yep, pretty much. There's no overarching plot, so you can jump in whenever you like and get into whatever's going on at the time.

Faceclaims are completely fine. A good deal of the people in the thread play as OCs so they just find art that looks close and use that. As long as you have some avatar, you're good.

Thanks!

I do have several characters that I can't depict closely with faceclaims due to being fictional species of mine, and so I just use a generic-ish stand-in that doesn't really show facial features. That might be more ambiguous. I can just not use them if that's going to be a problem.

Kinda hard to say without seeing the pictures you're talking about, specifically, but unless they're incredibly abstract and don't really depict much in general, they should be fine.

Ok, this is one of the pictures I have on my gallery right now (along with one other). Many of my characters are from a sci-fi setting, so I use this to give that broad picture. Nothing on how they actually look, though.

Yeah, there's nothing really wrong with that. I've played sci-fi-ish dudes who wear all armor all the time myself.

Ok, great. That solves my main roadblock to joining this RP.

Do you guys happen to have a chat in either Skype or Discord?

Yeah, we do, but we really only let people in after they've been in the thread for a little while.

I edited my sign-up form a few days ago. Can't elaborate much further on the character due to lack of information.

Well, in that case, I think you should pick a different character that has more source material for you to go off of. It's kinda hard to play a character without a whole lot of personality to draw from.

I might also suggest coming up with your own headcanon personality for her.

Yo, not trying to be rude or anything, but you're not in the thread yet. I'm not mad or anything, don't worry, but I'd appreciate it if you let me talk to people signing up.

I'm interested in this RP, but I'm not certain of a few things. Is it all right if I ask a few questions?

1. My avatar is of a character that doesn't really do anything too outlandish. The most noteworthy ability he has (barring playing Cardfight! Vanguard) is an ability that is related specifically to that card game. How should I go about using him if I were to join?

2. How story driven is this RP? Is it fairly low stress?

3. How do you go about joining the RP? I mean I know I have to sign up, but after that what do I do? I've looked at the RP a couple times, but I'm not certain of whether I could jump in (Or even if my character WOULD jump in).

4. If I wanted to RP to test my writing skills as my avatar's character so I can write fanfiction in the future would that be a bad idea? I thought this might be a fun way of going about that.

5. If I'm lacking confidence is it OK for me to join?

I'm sorry for all of the questions and thank you!

Hello! No worries at all, we're glad to answer any and all questions, and I super appreciate that you've got so many.

As a preface, our game has branched off into two incarnations, and this signup thread only works for one of them. The one you're signing up for is this one (commonly referred to as the FG). The other one (commonly referred to as the RP) is currently locked to new players, though you may have an opportunity to join it in the future after having a decent stint in the FG. The former is very freeform, the latter is a great deal more story-driven.

Now, as for the questions:

  1. This should be A-OK. We typically prefer a starting character not to be terribly outlandish in terms of abilities, so he ought to be ideal for starting out. Just explain his ability a bit in your signup so we can have a good understanding of it.
  2. It's quite a bit freeform, but it can sometimes be rather intense. It moves at a quick pace due to most posters opting for the quick and easy script format and the high volume of posters in general. However, most posters are conscientious of this, particularly when a new player joins, and will generally make sure others aren't forgotten in the rush.
  3. As long as your signup clears, all you'd need to do from there is make a post wherein your character pops into the FG. Note that while your introductory character does require a character sheet posted in the signups, any subsequent characters you want to play won't need such a thing. If you're unsure about a potential other character, just ask informally about it in our discussion thread. We're all glad to help you out with any questions or concerns you might have.
  4. No, not at all! Many of us play this game for the same reason, myself included. Again, we'd all be glad to help with character development and your development as a writer.
  5. Absolutely. Nobody's perfect starting out, so please be forgiving of yourself for the initial period. We've all been the new person before, so nobody's going to be marking your posts up with a red pen or anything like that.

Again, thank you for all the questions, and don't feel bad at all for asking them. It's good to know that you're giving this careful thought, and please feel free to ask more questions if anything else needs clarifying. c:

I didn't realize new users couldn't link to other pages... I'm really sorry about that! Is it OK if I just update this post? Or should I make a new one? Anyway... Here's the original post with a couple alterations.

Thank you very much! I guess I'll try to sign up...

Name: Aichi Sendou

Age: 15 (NOTE: I'm specifying this as Season 1 Aichi post episode 52, but before the end of the season. I have a few reasons for that)

Gender: Male

Appearance: (Can't post a link so I'll try to explain his appearance) Aichi is a rather short boy with blue hair that is about shoulder length. He has large blue eyes and wears a red mock turtle neck with a short light blue jacket over it. He also wears some blue pants with blue velcro shoes.

Personality: Aichi is a polite and kind, but rather shy boy who used to be extremely lacking in self-confidence. It was only after beginning to play the card game "Cardfight! Vanguard" that he became more confident and outgoing. If a friend needed him he would never leave them hanging. Although he's more confident with his Vanguard skills his confidence has not quite reached other aspects of his life such as school and general social interaction outside of the card game. He also seems to be fairly imaginative.

He has a difficult time waking up by himself and seems to be unskilled when preparing food (Examples include not able to peel potatoes easily and ending up with really misshapen onigiri). He was also bullied as a child which probably contributed to his lack of confidence throughout his life.

Abilities: He has a mysterious power called PSY Qualia that can do various things in Vanguard fights. These abilities vary between predicting the outcome of a battle (Example: Aichi gets a vision of seeing a specific set of his cards defeating his opponent), using the bond the user has with their units (Cards in their deck) to result in cards being drawn exactly when needed, and making opponents feel the damage their Vanguard (Their main card) takes in battle.

However, there is a great risk to using these abilities. If Aichi uses it again there's a good chance that he'll become addicted to its power and only care about victory. He'll become obsessed and want to crush anyone who opposes him.

He obviously doesn't want to lose himself and is actively trying not to use it. SPOILER FOR THE REST OF CARDFIGHT! VANGUARD: PSY Qualia actually links the user to the Planet Cray, the setting of the card game. It is actually a real planet and people with this ability are "vanguards" that determine certain major events on Cray.

SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3 OF CARDFIGHT! VANGUARD: PSY Qualia can apparently be used to seal some kind of possession as evidenced by Aichi sealing the Reverse (Basically being possessed by losing a Vanguard fight against someone already Reversed) that was trying to control him. This wasn't without side effects as even playing the card game after that could cause the energy sealed to be released all at once and kill him. There's no telling if this could be used against any other kinds of possession.

Password: anomalocaris

Honestly his powers shouldn't even be relevant considering I highly doubt any of the other characters have even HEARD of the card game.

Is this OK? I keep adding more because I'm worried I don't have enough info...

Oh yeah, no worries about that. They just do that to keep spambots and such from leaving suspicious links. You'll be able to link stuff very soon, I bet. c:

Anyway, your sheet is quite detailed, and it looks like this cute lil' bloke is very fleshed-out and would be a good fit for the game. Go ahead and hop in, if you'd like. :D

I'm really sorry about not posting recently, but I've gotten really overwhelmed about the idea of failing.

Is it OK if I stop? I'm really sorry and I might want to try again later, but for some reason I'm just too nervous to continue for now. I'm really, really, really sorry...

Hey man, I sometimes go entire weeks without posting, you're under no pressure or scrutiny. Real life takes priority.

Also, there is basically no way to "fail" at this game. Just relax, post if you want to, don't if you don't feel like it. You've been approved for this game, so you can come and go as you please.

What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?

Absolutely, no worries at all. I myself am an extreme rarity in the FG nowadays, and I completely feel you.

We've had people come back after months-long hiatuses, so no worries at all. If you'd like, you're welcome to hang around with us in the discussion, even if you're not actively playing.

Come back if/whenever you feel, dawg, ain't no thing at all. c:
