Just a Face and a Caption: Cyborg

For the casual reader that is not really familiar with Robocop (in fact, I did not recognize him without his usual helmet), the image does not illustrate the idea of a half-human, half-robot being. It may be simply seen as a man with a metal suit. It may be better to use the image (almost a sub-trope in itself) of a cyborg with the "half robot face". For example, this one◊, but perhaps others may find better ones under that same premise.

I don't see a problem. No need to recognise him. Looks like a cyborg to me.

This isn't exactly a JAFAAC image. It couldn't be much more obvious than this.

The current looks good.

Doesn't look like a man in a suit; that's some really good makeup for the metal part of his head to look like it's under (not over) the flesh part.

A reader should not have to be familiar with or otherwise recognise RoboCop for the image to "work". This is gross misuse of the phrase JAFAAC, almost the exact opposite.

Dammit...as much as I like the current image, I'd really kinda like to see something that makes the mix of organic and machine more obvious. Something like this◊, this◊, or this◊...but if there's another few keep or Keep Until Better Image Suggested votes, I'm good to move on.

Keep, because I can easily tell it's a cyborg even without knowing the source.

I think we could do better. Current looks like a robot(or an animatronic puppet) with a mask.

I'm inclined to agree, the current is okay but we can definitely do better. I like 6.1 the best out of those. 6.3 could be any guy in Power Armor.

I like 6.2 better. It illustrates the organic + mechanic better since we can see machinary parts grafted into his body.

The current is fine but if we wish to find more organic examples to help differentiate from an "Android" which should be an important distinction here, Cyborg◊, Audiophile, Darth Maul◊,

The second looks fairly creepy, but the most illustrative.

11.2 just looks like incredibly bad and overdone Photoshopping, no thanks. Do like the Darth Maul suggestions so far.

I'm not keen on 11.2 either. The Darth Maul suggestions are pretty good, but I think I prefer the Tech-priests.

I still don't think any suggestion is better than the current.

I agree with the Duck. Any of the suggestions would be a lateral move at best.

Alright, I think after Maddy's post we've got enough of a consensus on the current to leave it. I've moved the suggestions to the Image Links page; it was surprisingly barren. Locking up.
