But Lightning Spears still have the potential to have a lot of casts with high enough attunement. Also, you get both of them earlier and cheaper than both Soul Spears. Lightning Spear is an early game spell, while Soul Spear is a mid game spell which should be (more or less) on par on power level with Great Lightning Spear, and Crystal Soul Spear, requiring a boss soul and everything, should be better than all of those.

And yet, Lightning Spear is better than Crystal Soul Spear for pretty much everything except PVP.

but attunement just eats up points that could go elsewhere

a lot of points

Yeah, you know, Sorcery uses that too. Except the benefit it gets out of it late game is negligible.

but i'd rather not have to invest purely in faith and attunement, when i'd rather have a faith/dex thing going on, with lightning spear as a side arm

i say faith/dex because strength is useless

oh well i could drop spears

Defender's went from 68 to 65.

OH COME ON!! It's a goddamn Boss Soul Weapon! It was the one Boss Soul shield that I was considering investing Dragon Bones in, and they nerfed it's stability?! DAMNIT!

At least Pyromancy is untouched so far, right?

... Right?

i do have a sorcerer build going on but i prefer my old set

worked in the first game, works in the second

how would you nerf pyromancy anyway?

Add cast time, slot uses and/or decrease damage and/or casts, I guess?

I haven't used pyromancy enough this game to know if it's over or under powered at all. They took a chunk of poise damage off Flame Whip this latest patch, IIRC.

Not apparently, since people said they used Flame Whip precisely because of its poise damage.

Ugh, and I was hoping this game wouldn't suffer the same over centralization as the last one. Soon the only viable way to play, both Pv P and PvE will be "NO MAGIC! ZWEIHANDER AND HAVEL ONLY! FINAL DESTINATION!"

Next thing we know the Sorcerer and Cleric classes get completely removed, along with the INT and FTH stats.

So I got to Iron Crown's Cave of the Dead equivalent. If you know the backstory, you can guess who the boss is the moment you enter the area.

The Smelter Demon's Revenge. Stronger, Tankier, and likely with bigger buffs, because I died after only getting about 1/20th of his health off.

The area leading up to him feels alot more painful and gruelling than Cave of the Dead. While the enemies are easier than the Sactuary Knights, they make up for it by having some really nasty ranged enemies providing covering fire. Like the Glass Cannon Astrologers, who have all the Lighting Spears, Lighting Storm, as well as debuffs and healing. Their A.I is suicidally overconfident, and will charge to to cast in your face. Plus there's the floating Greatbow guys, who soak up alot of arrows.

Are there two different areas that players outside the DLC can be summoned into? There are two rooms to place summon signs in outside the entrance but I've only been summoned in from the one on the right.

I would totally be playing the actual DLC but PSN has some stupid update schedule and it still hasn't come out in the UK.

Hey, I think by "extra casts" for CSS and stuff, FROM meant that you get more casts for having high attunement. That is something I like; it rewards people who specialize as mages. I don't like the nerfing of the CBSR+2 into the ground.

This is a signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

I have a caster with 94 Attunement. before the patch, I had 40 CSS with 1 CSS scroll taking up one slot. Now I have 25 CSS with 2 CSS taking up 2 slots.

I don't get why people complain about the drakekeepers so much, to me the dragon dudes are worse.

Started the new DLC and jeez it's quite uh difficult huh? Shulva felt easier in comparison(those dullahan guys are BRUTAL and the floating archers are really annoying). Interesting how Nadia's soul comes in fragments. I got to the fume knight and he was whooping me, seemed like I was barely dealing any damage to him!!! I feel like I've hit a bit of a wall here so I'm going to level up a tad more to see if it helps.

Also apparently faith spells got increased damage again?

[up]I was going fine with the DLC (The Ash Knights are glass cannons and easy to stun lock, much easier than the Sanctum Soldiers and the first statue area just needed hit and run tactics), until I met my first Dullahan. I can NOT find an easy way to take them out. Even one feels overwhelming.

I wonder if the Ivory Crown DLC will have White Walker/Others Expies as enemies? Ice humanoids that are very fast, and camouflage themselves, but are cripplingly weak to fire weapons. Or a special Obsidian weapon

I feel like overall the enemies are harder here than the first DLC. The femninjas, bishops, dullahan, float archers are all troublesome, especially when in bigger groups. That one room with the firebomb dude, archer, and like 2 soldiers with the dullahan by the gate, UGH. I had to get lucky enough to open the gate and then just run through because I just can't man, JUST CAN'T.

[up]The one weakness of the Bishops/Astrologists is that their A.I is shit. They seemed to like charging up into my kill zone whenever I kept under cover.

Thing is they always have somebody else attacking you at the same time and that's where they're most dangerous, in groups.

I love the weapons they introduced in this DLC.

  • Majestic Greatsword = Abyss Greatsword
  • Smelter Hammer: Huge and intimidating, but strangely 2 pound lighter than GWC. Also, 70 Strength requirement!!! Awesome moveset that actually outdamages the GWC. Ladies and gentlemen, we've got the strength weapon to end all strength weapons.
  • Fume Ultra Greatsword: S scaling in Strength right off the bat, I like.
  • Bewitched Alonne Sword: Hands down the coolest shit in the game. Large handle nodachi with DKS 1's Chaos Blade R2 moveset and awesome self-buff. Who needs a Defender Greatsword when you can look cool with this bad boy of a katana?
