A mundane build has all stats even, or at least the lowest stats even. Basically think of the Deprived class but you continued to keep the stats even.

Mundane scales off the lowest stat you have, as I mentioned previously. The thing is, it doesn't permanently designate a stat to scale when you infuse your weapon with mundane. Say you start with a Bandit and have a mundane dagger or whatever. With the base stats, it automatically scales by the 1 INT. You get more damage with mundane by raising INT until it's of a higher value than another stat, say STR, at which point it scales off of STR until it passes the next highest stat and so on and so forth. For this reason a mundane build always keeps the lesser stats at the very least even.

For how convoluted it sounds, though, it's not something you'd want to use in your standard Quality build or what have you, as Marc has now pointed out. Really, the amount of weapons that it's useful for from what i've heard (bearing in mind you base the whole build around getting the most damage out of the infused weapon) apparently can be counted on one hand, and those seem to be either the OP weapons or ones that are absolutely useless normally.

Just all sounds a bit weird and involved to me, and I still don't fully understand it, so I doubt I'll bother with it. About as complex as I plan to get is whenever I decide to go ahead and create a sorcerer, I think I'll give him an enchanted weapon, since I think physical attack power (as opposed to magic) scales with INT on an enchanted weapon.

Planning on going through the Rat Covenant area of the Doors of Pharros with Sparrow later, and I might just join the Rats for the sake of not having to put up with PVP when I just want to explore and grab loot. Really don't know if I want to take on the Authority with her though, it was enough of a pain as Farron.

Correct - both Magic and Enchanted Infusions add INT scaling to the weapon but the difference is that Enchanted adds extra physical damage while Magic splits it into Physical and Magic.

Also, tip for when you run a sorceror, in case you didn't know: You can actually infuse staves with either Magic or Dark to make your Sorceries/Hexes stronger. Same with chimes - just replace 'Magic' and 'Sorceries' with 'Lightning' and 'Miracles'.

[up] Oh yeah. My friend pointed out that I could infuse my dragon chime with lightning for more lightning damage on my spells. I'd discounted it since upgrading catalysts in Dark Souls did nothing.

I used to have to wear a Ring of Prayer all the time for extra damage output. Not anymore!

I did not know that, but I will definitely do it. Thanks.

I hink I'm gonna make a poison build for Pv P with +10 Avelyn infused with poison as well as Mytha's dagger and the Moon Butterfly set, does this have much chance of working?

Unfortunately (fortunately?) you can't infuse Crossbows or Bows with poison. But you can still use poison arrows with a bow! Galvan has an infinite stock when you find him for the third time. (There's no poison bolts in the game)

[up] Damn! Avelyn is a crossbow. Am I able to use resins on it? Also, is there anywhere where one could by an infinite supply of heavy bolts?

I believe Steady Hand MacDuff sells infinite heavy bolts once you get the Dull Ember for him. He sells infinite iron arrows, so I assume they're equivalent.

I got one bellkeeping kill last night before my internet conked out, which was a pain.

Speaking of poison builds, I'd considered making Sparrow's weapons, or daggers at least, bleeding, but I don't know if I want to lose base damage for something that might not even be effective anyway.

Fortunately, you can get a new Bone of Order by waiting at the altar in Things Betwixt for a few hours.

Does anyone else think it's weird that you start with certain items like the Black Separation Crystal? Every other item, including both white soapstones, is picked up in the world, but for some reason you start with a crystal that can return phantoms to their world.

Seems unfair. It wasn't my fault that the internet died, though I know there's no way for the game to know that. Plus, according to that wiki link, it only counts if you disconnect while being invaded. I was not (to my knowledge) being invaded at the time, nor was I in another's world. I was simply waiting to be called upon for bellkeeping.

Gosh, I nearly cared about someone hating a game and then hate-playing said game. Most obnoxious article I've read in a while.

I consider myself a literate man. "TL;DR" isn't usually in my vocabulary. But good lord, that was a waste of time. Words within words within words that didn't seem to mean anything. I especially "liked" the random dig at people who enjoy the game.

Apparently the author has a history of doing this in regards to the Souls series, with roughly the same complaints each time. Here is a rebuttal to his review of Dark Souls the First, with a link to the original review at the beginning.

So PC version of dark souls has been out for a while yay. Some good news on my Sorceror build Dual Caestus is really good against strike vulnerable enemies, but Spells work better for those thrice accursed vikings in No-Mans wharf.

Did you know: Crawlies are afraid of fire, light a torch and you can ignore them

Did you also know: Viking oil explodes on contact with torches >.> lost 40K souls because of that little sneaky trick.

It's best to come back there later, via No Man's Wharf, if only because then you'll be leveled enough to handle it.

@trip: In Majula, if you're at the bonfire facing the way you came from Things Betwixt, turn right. Go past the blacksmith's house, and there's a archway with stairs leading down to a circular room. There should be an open door on the right. Follow it down to the sewer, find the switch to open the gate, carry on through, and you're now at Heide's Tower of Flame. Explore here, beat a boss (or two), and you'll eventually find your way to No Man's Wharf, which will eventually lead to the main entrance of the Bastille.

Sparrow has cleared Drangleic Castle and the Shrine of Amana, and is still keeping up her bellkeeping. Had a fight today that ended with me killing the host with a plunging attack, very satisfying.

Ah, thank you!

Also, any good weapons for this point in the game besides +5 Estoc? It's useful, but I don't get the same satisfaction from poking things with a sharp stick as I do from taking a jumping smash and breaking the bones of a poor soul with a Zweihander

speaking of where is the zweihander

A chest in the Iron Keep.

While you're in No Man's Wharf, you can get the Greatsword. It's in a trapped chest near where you meet Gavlan.
