While I don't really care about either film, I know some people want to discuss these films in relation to each other. This doesn't properly fit in either of the other two threads, so I thought I'd make one for the rest of you to talk in.

Looking for some stories?

Well, they both start with the word "The". That's something, right?

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.

^Smart arse-smile

Well both of them are denouncing an era of greed and decadent in a somewhat hypocritical Do Not Do This Cool Thing approach. So they are legitimate thematic similarities.

They both had good sound tracks.

But seriously, Jordan Belfront and James Gatsby are two completely different characters. Gatsby thought he needed to be a certain status to woo a fickle woman while Jordan was addicted to the excess of his lifestyle.

Outside of Leonardo Di Caprio playing a rich man in both movies, they're really nothing alike.

On Real Time with Bill Maher, Bill Maher humorously noted that between these two films The Aviator, DiCaprio is getting typecast as "Super-rich asshole", adding "When do you start work on Bieber?"
