Deletion of watched pages doesn't appear on watchlist

In fact, when a watched page is deleted, it seems it simply disappears from the watchlist, without any kind of notice.

I bet a mod will tell me it's a feature to avoid re-creation by vandals, but deleted pages are auto-locked...

When a page you watch is cutlisted, it jumps to the top of your watchlist with "cutlisted" next to it in bright red. Once it is deleted, though, yeah, there is no notification.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

Ah. Given the watched page I "lost" was apparently deleted by a mod after a TRS, it probably didn't pass the cutlist nor collect $200.

It always has to pass the cutlist. Sometimes the wait is shorter than others, though.

Which page is it?

It was the Why Didnt You Just Say So page, apparently deleted a year ago after a failed TRS.

If I understand correctly, if a page is added to the cutlist and deleted five minutes later, it disappears from the watchlist as soon as it's deleted, right? Meaning watchers get no notification whatsoever unless they happen to refresh their watchlist within this time window?

Right. Usually that means that the cutlisting mod is also a cut master, like Fast Eddie. It would be nice to be able to search the archives of the Cut List past a certain point, but he has never provided that functionality. It's certainly a gap.

And as a result, I noticed its deletion today, one year later, when trying to add an example to it.

I've asked before to have the cut reason copied into the mods' locked pages report so we can see it, but Eddie said that he wasn't able to do that. So unless he provides a permanent cut log of some sort, we'll be left guessing in these cases. Not that it really matters — once a page is cut, it's cut.

Yeah, but cutting is a pretty important event in a page's lifetime, so it should appear on watchlists, even if it disappears on the next watchlist refresh (like red dots do).

I understand it would be difficult to implement, though, so it's more a wish than anything else.

Well it may be less important now that the pages are acknowledged as deleted (and with the deletion reason) instead of becoming unpages, so you can probably file it in the "nice to have" folder now...
