Yeah, I think that's just a stupid rumor. I believe the delays were simply because J. G. Jones was taking too long on the art and they had to switch out artists.

Isn't Jones just painfully slow on general principle?

Why do they keep giving high profile serial jobs to chronically slow artists anyway? How many more times do they have to get burned?

I also love the concept of Mandrakk. He's the Anthropomorphic Personification of unnecessary Darker and Edgier stories, and he's come to literally suck all the fun out of comics!

Though apparently Cry for Justice wasn't his doing, as he was already dead by then; go figure.

Aw man, I gotta say I'm sad they figure Pre-Flashpoint Clark wouldnt believe Luthor could be genuine about being a hero. But considering the last he saw of his luthor was him almost destroying the universe in his hate for superman it might not be that hard to believe. Wait I got it. that's what makes Lex go full villain again, he finds out there are 2 Supermen on Earth.

[up]Well, he didn't almost destroy the universe. But he did give up being a god and keeping the universe in perfect harmony for one last shot at Superman, so it's still understandable.

I really love The Black Ring.

Well, that's good at least. And they are letting Gotham by Midnight finish off its storyline (although that book probably had years and years worth of storylines it could do).

Weird fact: The DC Comics Encyclopedia has no entry for the Anti-Monitor. He's folded into the regular Monitor's entry. Much lamer crossover villains like Imperiex and Amazons Attack!Hippolyta get their own entries, but he doesn't. What gives?

Because, technically, his name is just "the Monitor" (that's how he was introduced in Crisis on Infinite Earths). He's simply the Monitor of the Anti-Matter Universe, which is why everyone calls him the Anti-Monitor.

So recently I learned that there was this fan theory that Parallax and the Emotional Spectrum didn't exist prior to Zero Hour and that Hal created them to absolve himself. Anyone ever heard of this? And what are your thoughts on it?

I remember some douchecanoe making a series of videos with Hal and Kyle talking about this subject.

I always felt it was weird and kinda obtuse and made Hal into a manchild on a cosmic scale, altering reality to absolve himself of all responsibility for anything ever.

But then, Geoff Johns did that anyway, so why not?

I always liked the idea and the character of the Monitor/ Anti-Monitor (even if he does seem a tad ripped from Marvel's Watcher) but I hated the names, particularly of the Anti-Monitor. At first glance the name just doesn't make any sense (so...he doesn't monitor stuff? He actively pays no attention? He's an advocate for personal privacy?)

He's the Monitor of the Anti-Matter Universe. Hence: Anti-Monitor.

Well he is a monitor just for the anti matter universe. It's to differentiate him from the positive matter universe moniter. And then the name just stuck.

One could argue that actively trying to destroy the Multiverse is opposite to passively monitoring it...

The real reason the Anti-Monitor doesn't have an entry is because of the encyclopedia's refusal to deal with characters as they were Pre-Crisis. Images are fine, but all the text in the book deals with Post-Crisis characterization.

[up] You think so? I mean, there are entries for Golden Age characters who haven't been seen since the Crisis.

well they probably still happened post crisis.

I will say the original edition of the Encyclopedia seemed to have it in for the pre-Zero Hour Legion of Superheroes, though; all the members are listed under their less silly post-ZH names, and their biggest pre-ZH opponent, Time Trapper, doesn't even get an entry. He got one in the updated edition, but that one came out only after Infinite Crisis said "screw it" and made all the various confusing versions of the Legion equally canon.

Any character who got rebooted, though, has only their Post-Crisis entry.

Hasn't it appeared post-crisis though?

[up]Not sure. Given that they include a lot of Pre-Crisis imagery and have references to Crisis on Infinite Earths at various points throughout, I wouldn't have minded them including at least some information on the Pre-Crisis incarnations. As a kid leafing through the early 2000s version I can safely say I was very confused about why the book insisted Supergirl wasn't Superman's cousin, when I had all these old sixties comics where she was.

I remember there was a "Christmas with the Super Heroes" anthology comic one year in the late 80's that featured pre-Crisis Kara Zor-El/Supegirl, though her name is never mentioned. Deadman is experiencing an existential crisis and she shows up to help him (not in costume, either, mind you) able to see and interact with him and what not. When he asks if she's a ghost, she makes it pretty clear who she is without ever coming right out and saying it. She calls herself a "person out of time" or words to that effect.
