I've come up with a idea for a superhero RP set in a new universe that is a combo of various Role plays I've created over the years. The main premise would be an alien race has assembled the best heroes of their type, (One element based hero, a sorcerer, either a robot or a powered armor hero, a bestial-animal like hero, and an extraordinarily well trained human) to be the champions of Earth to protect it from several approaching disasters.

You'd create the hero that fell into these types, their powers, origin, (as long as it wouldn't contradict a few simple details I'd put in the signup thread) and your supporting cast. At first we'd only have the five players and myself, later on I thought we might add more players as mid-level villains or sidekicks to the main five if the players like it and are willing to have sidekicks or change NP Cs into P Cs.

Would anyone be interested in this idea?

Cool.cool

A tech based hero would be fun to play, but be aware that you'll probably have some weaknesses the others will have to counter for.

A couple of other people expressed interest in the concept. So I'm gonna start it up now.

STORY

Three years is all it took. Three years ago the first superheroes began appearing. Aliens, magi, the undead all were confirmed to exist within only a few months of each other! People all over the world were apprehensive and feared for their lives. Millions were saved and millions were killed as powerful people began to fight to the death in the middle of the streets! Now as the heroes of Earth began to finally gain a foothold they will team up for the first time, whether they like it or not!

Now it is 2015. An alien race calling themselves the Xyrin have abducted the five best heroes of the world and ordered them to become "Earth's Champions". The best and the brightest and the only ones capable of stopping the upcoming disasters. They must unite, or fail if this world is going to survive.

RULES

'''1) Do not start fights Out of Character. If you have a problems with a GM or another player try to resolve it calmly. If you cannot resolve it well bring it up with me polietly and I'll make sure it is solved.

2) No Godmodding: Your heroes are meant to be powerful but not Gods. Do not act like you can dodge everything or defeat everyone extremely easily. Also you cannot gain more powers like clockwork or have everything go your way.

3) Do not control other people's characters without their express permission. The reasons why should be obvious.

4) No Metagaming: This means simply don't act on information you know that your character would not.

5) Try to post at least once every three days: It may be lowered to one or two in a major fight scene. If we have to we will NPC your character until you return.

6) Try to post at least a paragraph, (as in four sentences) per post. I understand writer's block or just not feeling it and I won't punish you if it happens occasionally. As long as you have decent spelling and grammar and don't give me constant one liners you will probably be okay with this rule.

7) Keep Contradictions to a minimum: Follow the in universe rules and pay attention to a few setting details. I want you to get creative and have fun but try to have it make sense.'''

In-Universe Rules

  • Superheroes have only been publicly defending people since 2012 three years ago.
  • Sorcerers must come from a family of other sorcerers and carry one magical object in order to use their magic in the human world.
  • Robotic heroes have a weakness to people who can control magnetism and EMP blasts.
  • Elemental heroes can be damaged greatly by their opposing element.
  • The tech level for average people is only slightly above what we have in the real world as I write this.

In-Universe Details & Names to know

  • Many genetic diseases and birth defects have been cured since at least twenty years ago.
  • The in-universe equivalent of both Microsoft and Apple is Yeager Enterprises. A tech company started in the mid 1980s that most people's appliances come from. Unlike those companies however they do not specialize in just computers. They are also a defense contractor and make much more mundane everyday technology such as cars, radios, televisions, etc...
  • This World's foremost terrorist group is based in Europe and known as H.A.W.K. Origin unknown they are an extremely well organized military unit who have access to super-tech. The US Military is currently attempting to find the exact location of their headquarters.
  • The most well-known magical villain is a mysterious being named the Warlord who holds control of an empire.

-Names

  • Seral Yeager

The CEO and founder of Yeager enterprises. The World's foremost electronics company. A powerful man yet seems to be very private. He is headquartered in Germany and rarely makes appearances in the US. Though his company has offices nearly everywhere in the world.

  • Dr. William Vanguard

A 47 year old Physician who has managed to cure several genetic diseases. Though he is the son of the Co-Founders of a biological research firm he decided to go on a different path and only continues his father's research because of a deathbed promise. With the help of his father's research he has manged to incorporate animal DNA to cure genetic diseases and make cosmetic changes though others have used it for more nefarious purposes.

  • Sarah Hall

A former small-time newsman who gained international fame when she covered the first ever alien attack on humans.

In the next post I'll put up the Character Sheet.

To clarify, would a training based hero be allowed the use og gadgetry like Batman or are we talking a pure martial artist? Because i want to lay claim to the Badass Normal.

Interested, maybe a magic based hero for me.

[up][up]Yes gadgetry would be okay. But not to the extent of a tech-based hero. Basically you can be Batman or Nick Fury but you can't be Iron Man or The Vision.

I'd have preferred to try my hand at the power armour type character, but since that's been laid claim to...Hm. Either the highly trained human and the name Alastor, orrr...A bestial type. Maybe my guy Chimaera. Has various animal abilities spliced into him which give him a good amount of abilities, plus the ability to turn into a much bigger and stronger monster form. Or, failing that, my magic type character the Dragon/Draconus. Long-lived, wears a suit of enchanted armour and is no slouch in close combat.

Any preferences? I'm easy, so I'll roll with whatever people'd like best.

[up][up][up]Works for me. Basically I'm thinking something on the line of a stage magician based character whose gadgets are based on magic tricks. Smoke bombs, flashbangs, scarves that act as a noose/lariat, a wand that extends and expands into a fighting staff, or maybe a pair of bo sticks, maybe a hologram projector or two for illusions.

I'd rather save the holograms for the tech hero, but everything else works.

@Amon: Your beast sounds good, but I might not approve of you turning into an ever bigger stronger monster. Why don't you fill it out? I can tell if it will work.

If you like. You may have to finish up your character sheet to get the magic hero because it is first come first serve. If you want a Henshin Hero though most any of the types will fit.

  • Codename: The Sigil
  • Real Name: Edmund Manus
  • Age: 30
  • Normal Appearance: A man of a worldly air, yet still youthful, tall, lean, of dry factions and a long face with a long proud nose. His hair brown and somewhat long and somewhat curly, his eyes of color hazel, with a pair of bushy brows on top of them.
  • Hero Appearance: When on the job his outfit consists of a wide brimmed brown hat, and matching overcoat, covering his face a pair of tinted circular glasses, below the coat a long tan zip-up sweater, a pair of beige slacks and some brown loafers. It should be noted that due to an enchantment he will seem older, red haired and with a bushy beard and mustache.
  • Archetype: The Sorcerer
  • Power Source: Magic
  • Powers: His powers rely less on directly casting spells and more on the imbuing of objects and artifacts, though he has a couple minor spells that he can cast on the account of a couple of botched enchantments.
    • Hammer of the Mind: A botched strength enchantment, now enables him to project a bolt of force with the strength of a swift jab, to the cost of a light headache with extended use.
    • Artifacts:
      • Book of Sigils: The source of arcane knowledge, the one that allowed him to practice the imbuing. This allows him to enchant any object and even create seals or golems, but they all require time and preparation. It is the third book to exist within the family as the first was stolen and fragmented; the second was burned with only a figment of a page remaining. The current is enchanted to resist some damage and fire.
      • Glamour charm: a simple enchantment on a golden ring gives him his characteristic appearance when on his finger.
      • Outfit: Most of his clothing is enchanted to be more resistant to the outside forces and his coat has hammer-space properties
      • Skeleton Key: Iron ancient looking keys whose teeth rotate and slide on their shaft as the key is used. It unlocks physical locks and it can make feeble minds more suggestible.
      • Gnarled Staff : an unassuming long gnarled stick with multiple enchantments on it, the first being flight, the second being durability, the third allowed it to be light as a feather to its user and the final being a combination of them that amount to elongation and size manipulation
      • Pipe of Ages: a regular wooden pipe that creates large masses of smoke or mist, allowing him to partially manipulate the emission and control its color and/ density.
      • Blink powder: the one its used on its transported a short length away in a puff of smoke
      • Trap-cloths: tie-died hand-kerchiefs, or random scraps of cloth that expand, tangle, wrap and constricts their assailants when stepped on.
      • Amplifier ring: a simple silver ring that amplify the effects of his inner spell
      • Glasses: they help him see through illusions and smoke
  • Origin: The legacy of magic runs deep in the Manus family, from age old they have gone with this tradition of passing on the book and its teachings to the firstborn of the first born, and as time goes by the book grows as every user is tasked to add to it for the next generation to use. The book itself is enchanted. However this does not mean that the rest of the family lacks any power, the branches of the family have their own versions of the book of sigils, but they are smaller and less comprehensive than the main one.
Edmund himself was instructed and received the book from his mother. While most others of the family had either worked from the shadows to help man or used their gift for personal gain Edmund, after a proper while of consideration, decided to go out in the open and help the world with his gift.
  • Supporting Characters:
    • Ik and Egen: a pair of pint-sized golems made from wood and stone respectively, Edmund has grown endeared to them, he uses them mostly as assistants
    • Sigil II: another golem made of cloth and stuffing with a wooden inner frame, vaguely resembles Edmund as Sigil, used as decoy. Ed can project his voice through the dummy.
    • Anne O’Hara: Pseudo-sidekick, a teenager punk girl that Edmund helped out a couple of occasions. He has gifted to her a couple of artifacts including an enchanted narrow jacket, an impossibly sharp pen-knife and a small locket that helps him track her. He serves as a mentor to this wayward youth.
    • Gwendolyn “Wendy” Gales: His lovely wife, a short and busty dark haired girl with a kind heart, slightly ditzy, and rather protective of her loved ones. Still apprehensive to Edmund being a hero.
    • Emma Manus: Ed’s mother and the previous holder of the book of sigils. Used her gift to make her restaurant successful. Easygoing and carefree as a general persona, yet stern as a teacher and specially as a mother.
  • SKPC: Yes
  • Player Use: Yes

Well, if you don't mind my ganking a character from a prior RP...

  • Codename: Chevalier Amethyst
  • Real Name: Violet Laved
  • Age: 15
  • Normal Appearance: Dark hair that she normally keeps in a ponytail, and purple eyes. She likes to wear jeans and sweaters, and her Transformation Trinket takes the form of a bracelet with a purple diamond-shaped gem on it.
  • Hero Appearance: A warrior for love and justice!
  • Archetype: Technology Based
  • Power Source: Extremely Sufficiently Advanced Technology
  • Powers: Violet can transform into a magical girl using the power of the gem. This has a few 'passive' effects, for example making her much more durable, strong, and fast, as well as making sure that no one will recognize her in her transformed state - unless they see her transform they won't be able to connect that Violet and Amethyst are the same person. Once transformed, she has access to a variety of attacks.
    • Amethyst Sparkle: A basic attack, a projectile that is reasonably strong
      • Amethyst Sparkling Facet: A variation on that which produces eight projectiles, which are each weaker than the original one
      • Amethyst Star Comet: a finisher attack, basically a large blasty thing
    • Amethyst Starlight: A purifying attack/healing attack that dispels curse magic and such.
      • Amethyst Starfall: A larger-scale version, that is better at general pacification than healing, but still ok at that.
    • Amethyst Saber: A glowing purple sword, though it's closer to a rapier than a saber. .
      • Amethyst Saber Chain: The blade extends like a whip - something similar to Signum (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha's) Snake Form.
        • Amethyst Chain Bind: Creates a 'bind' patterned like the sword that wraps around the target and restrains them. This can also be used to create an impromptu blockade or wall.
      • Amethyst Saber Slash: a finishing attack that is basically a closerange version of Star Comet
    • Amethyst Aegis: Creates a diamond-shaped shield. It's not very large but can block attacks. It can also be grown much larger, though this stops Violet from casting other spells.
    • Flight/Super-jumping: Creates four small diamond shapes on each wrist and ankle. These can be used for flight, and also can cause Violet to shoot in a certain direction very quickly.
  • Origin: Violet was once an ordinary 14 year old magical-girl fan, when a comet fell into her room, and then revealed itself to be Geode, an Emissary of the Jewelled Kingdom charged with finding and training a new Chevalier, who would help in the fight against the Hubnerite Empire. Many long days of training and fighting evil ensued, until finally the Hubnerite Empire was defeated. Of course, due to the narrative laws of the universe, this prompted the appearance of a new, even stronger threat, as is the way of the universe. Currently Violet is between her third and fourth threats.
  • Supporting Characters: Geode, a grey and purple, sparkly creature that acts as Violet's Mentor Mascot. There are also other Chevaliers themed after other gemstones.
  • SKPC: Yes
  • Player Use: No
  • Other: (Anything you would like to add? Something I forgot? Put it here)
