Okay, I have nothing against Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, but the image on Descending Ceiling is:

  • small and not very clear,
  • rather dark,
  • with two very obvious black strips on top and bottom,
  • and not terribly evocative of the trope if you haven't seen the movie.

Motion to pull.

I would say Keep Until Better Image Suggested, although the black bars have to go, and some brightening is indicated.

A weak Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

Agree. It's better, but not great.

It's improved, but some other ideas would be good.

That's pretty much the same, but better.

[up][up]The suggestion is a big improvement in illustrating the trope, I'd say.

Lateral move for me.

[up]It's not; it's much clearer than the ceiling is descending, and supposed to (we can even see the holes in the floor for the spikes) than in the Indiana Jones pic, where you could think the character are just crawling through a low-ceiling tunnel with some spikes hanging (and even then, you have to squint because of the low quality).

Bump. What, no other opinions? I'm asking in all fairness, do we change the picture for the far superior suggestion, or do we keep the poor, barely-visible current one?

It's not really far superior.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

Finding a better image isn't that easy, it appears. Most of the ones I found are simply "ceiling with spikes" or generally low in quality...

This is one of the better illustrations.

One of the better? Rather low ceiling on those...

[up]Looks just like two people standing in a room with low ceiling. Seems to be a potential JAFAAC, not to mention, poor graphic quality

[up] Glad I'm not the only one here who feels that way.... good.

It never did look particularly dangerous at the time, plus the whole trap is triggered by you taking a shotgun from the room next to it. So why couldn't you just shoot out the rather weak doorlock, on a rather weak door?... We may never know.

[up] Oh I know, relevancy went out the window! tongue

I just wanted to know what you guys thought of the picture since, it was the only other one I could find that we haven't already posted.

[up] Back to the thread at hand... I could lean either way 7 or Keep Until Better Image Suggested. But I'm leaning more to 7.

Speaking of Resident Evil, anyone have a decent screen cap of the Resident Evil 4 descending ceiling trap?

I'm away from my main computer and can't look for images at the moment.

Oh really when?
