Nah. It was less that SHIELD wasn't depicted as slimy and more that the tone was much more goofy and juvenile than people were expecting, which is probably why the people talking up the new shows have been drawing a line and saying these will be more adult.
Watching AOS and then The Winter Soldier was like night and day.
Turn Turn Turn.
He's the Doctor. He could be anywhere in time and space.I'm not sure how people took the show as juvenile and goofy when the first episode featured the equivalent of talking a man down off a ledge as its climax, and not long after that was an episode about dealing with the prospect of imminent mortality, with a bonus emotional sledgehammer of watching a good man who's done nothing but try to help people find the strength to Face Death with Dignity.
The show has a sense of humor and isn't just uber-serious people sitting around moping and brooding about how dark and awful life is, but it's still emotionally powerful and gets really f*cking dark and serious frequently enough.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I'd really prefer the Netflix shows not to be too dark. I'd like to enjoy watching them.
You can be dark and still be fun and enjoyable. I'd just rather the protagonists not spout into stupid gags and pop culture references during what are supposed to be tense, suspenseful moments.
Sure. Just so long as we're not talking something like Angel post-season 3 or so. Had to drop the series for a bit to recover from that gauntlet.
What was so bad about Angel post-season 3?
My wife and I both found it to be very depressing, to the extent we had to drop it for awhile and watch some other shows. We eventually finished the series but it was kind of a rough ride. I'd go in more detail but it's been several years and I can't remember exactly what was happening at the time.
I may be getting the season wrong, too. I can't remember when exactly we dropped it, but it was around the middle of the series.

Season 4 I agree was depressing as Hell. Didn't like the Beast or the jasmine storylines at all. Picked up in the final season though when they got co-opted by Wolfram and Hart.
Trump delenda estPart of the issue is defining "dark". For me, SHIELD is not dark. It has darker moments, but it's no more a dark show than Doctor Who.
I personally hope that the shows each have a different feel. Iron Fist has a different feel than Daredevil. And I would like Daredevil to be darker than Marvel normally goes.
On that note, Drew Goddard isn't doing Daredevil anymore.
For what it's worth, Latino Review apparently has a habit of making stuff up. And the other article I found that named his replacement didn't show any sources. So I'm just going to wait and see on this one.
Ah. Well here's hoping the world is full of liars.
I hope they do a fair amount of Courtroom drama with the Daredevil series as there aren't too many heroes you can doe that with.
She-Hulk.
Cable has also passed the bar.
What, really?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah. She-Hulk is a lawyer too.
The thing about Cable came up in an old issue of X-Force. I have no idea what I remember the panel so vividly short of my brain knowing how vital it would be in the future.
Has there been any news on casting at all?
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."First Edgar Wright bails on Ant-Man, now this. (Not that that's a big loss; a) It's Ant-Man, and b) it's Edgar Wright.)
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Good choice. Everyone I've thought of for the role was someone who can play "friendly everyman with a dark side", and Cox has that down (thinking of his Boardwalk Empire character).
Edit, edit, edit, edit the wikiOh HELL yes. Not as huge as Fisk, but one hell of an actor. He'll do Wilson nicely.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117While Fisk's size certainly is one of the more prominent features of the character, is it really that important that he be a huge hulking guy? I mean, yeah, some skinny beanpole ain't gonna cut it no matter how well he acts, but there aren't really all that many overall huge actors out there, and camera work can do wonders (see John Rhys-Davies as Gimli from the LOTR movies... RL he's somewhere around 6 ft tall IIRC) as long as the actor has a presence all their own, which D'Onofrio has.
All your safe space are belong to Trump
People who tuned into a show called Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which revolved around a military spy organization and expected to see a show about how military spy organizations are evil and anyone who would be an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a Complete Monster deserved their disappointment.
That's like watching Law and Order and then complaining that all the cops on the show aren't engaging in police brutality and making Aesops about how corrupt and evil cops are.
