I've never heard of that artist, but I'm glad the film is resonating with lots of people! I'm slightly peeved that there is just one curmudgeon on rottentomatoes who gave the film a bad review, which keeps it just shy of a perfect percentage. Princess Kaguya, on the other hand, still has one!
Still has one what? A perfect percentage?
Also, I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm the only one around here who knows of Kate Leth.
So I take it that you saw SOTS? Was it as good as you were hoping it'd be?
(whispering voice on) Does it end on a happy note? (whispering voice off)
It's only a matter of time. There are always people who don't believe in a perfect percentage. Sadly. Everything over 95% counts in my book as "awesome" and most likely close to perfect.
I just saw this movie and it was great! Aisling is a background character at one point, so that's something to look forward to.
The end of the film is. . . I guess you could say bittersweet. I'm not going to spoil anything, but the film is pretty darn good. I need a re-watch as soon as it comes out on DVD. I had to watch Kells tons of times to spot everything, and I didn't notice the Aisling cameo when I saw this film in the theater (I'll look for that next time!).
I haven't seen this yet, but I want too. It sounds very interesting, and I love the animation style.
Crow: There's a plot?I adore this movie.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.I think the DVD is going to be released later this month. You might even be able to preorder it.
I'll have to keep an eye out for it, then
Crow: There's a plot?Who's seen it now?
It was freaking incredible I thought.
Oh gosh, I adore this movie. I'm still a big fan of Kells, but Song of the Sea surpassed it on every level.
Would it be blasphemous for me to call Tomm Moore the new Miyazaki?
I'd like to be the first man on the moon.I bought this on DVD and holy balls it's amazing.
I didn't write any of that.I gots the Bluray! Time to watchy!
I watched it last night. WOW. I LOVED it.
Probably the most Tearjerking animated film I've ever seen.
Well, I did my part to endorse it by publishing an article about it.

In case anyone is interested.
Finally got around to watching this. Really good.
"I've come to the conclusion that this is a very stupid idea."I've yet to see it, but I just had to show this around!
The force is strong in my family. My father has it. I have it. My sister has it.
Fun fact: if Ben is 10 years old in 1987, that means he was born in 1977. Gee, wasn't that the same year as a certain sci-fi epic set in a galaxy far, far away?

Oh, I thought you were going to Ben Ten with that for a second.
Er, no.
I just thought 1987-10=1977; 1977=Star Wars.
In fact, if no one minds, my head canon is that Ben's into Star Wars, or at least would be once he learns about it and his parents bonded while hearing The Beatles.
So I finally got this on Blu-ray and watched it. Wonderful movie, and an improvement over The Secret of Kells. Now I'm just miffed it didn't win that Academy Award.
In what way is it an improvement?
My angry rant blog!I found the story somewhat more engaging, and there was more time spent on the mythic elements, allowing for more of the most creative visuals. I liked Kells a lot too, mind you, when I say Song is and improvement I mean it as praise for that movie, not a slam against Kells.
And as I pointed out in my article, the animation is better. Not the art style, that is very similar, but the animation. It is more fluent and as a result the characters are more expressive which in turn makes it easier to relate to them.
All right.
For some reason, despite the fact that I started this thread and the trope page ages ago, I was somehow getting cold feet over actually watching it.
But I did it, I finally watched this movie!
Man, did it tug at my heartstrings.
My only real gripe was that...I kinda want to see more of this world. Preferably via an ongoing comic series published by IDW Publishing or KaBOOM! Comics.
Just...wow.
Sorry for double-posting but...
Song of the Sea kinda lost.
But hey! Big Hero 6 won! Which is great since I was ready to think HTTYD 2 would have Best Animated Feature in the bag.
Anyhoo...anyone know Kate Leth? Comic writer/artist? Currently writing Bravest Warriors for KaBOOM! Comics and Edward Scissorhands for IDW Publishing? Wrote an Adventure Time graphic novel where Marceline and Jake the Dog do a team-up? And also wrote a Billy and Mandy one-shot for Cartoon Network Super Secret Crisis War?
Looks like she's really into Song of the Sea.
Which I find really funny because if there's ever going to be an ongoing comic book series that serves as a sequel to SOTS, I'd want her to write it.
