I'm glad for the way they updated the ending so that it was the Grand Duke who made up the 'try the shoe on every foot' strategy, because no way in hell would the Prince NOT have known the face of someone he had met more than once. So the ending becomes about accepting people for who they are.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI think you misunderstand my point. The narration claims she didn't care what the Stepmother did and she's shown dancing around her attic room to show how she doesn't care. But, then she's later shown singing her mother's song while looking depressed and forlornly staring out the window in a completely BSOD nature which suggests, no, she DOES in fact care very deeply.
She didn't look THAT forlorn.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectShe looked to be hurting to me. Namely, every scene with the mice had her CONSTANTLY at their attention and, here, she doesn't even seem aware that they're trying to open her window. That suggests to me a MASSIVE dis attachment to her surroundings.
In the original movie it wasn't the plan of the prince either, but the plan of the king. And didn't care at all if the Grand Duke found the right girl or not, he just wanted one which fit into the shoe because the prince swore that he would only marry no one but the girl who fit into the shoe, and the king wanted to nail him on that promise. The only movie which claims that the prince came up with the nonsense is the awful Cinderella cheapquel everyone loves so much even though it gets half of the original movie wrong.
Wasn't that the ending in the original movie as well?

Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.OK then, it's been a while since I've seen it. My apologies.

Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.Cinderella 3
I know I'm a bit late, but I finally saw this movie recently. I wasn't super interested in seeing it, but my grandma stake me to a movie and it was pretty much the only one playing I was interested in.
...It's okay.
I mean, I feel like I wasn't the intended audience for it. It's a "movie adaptation" in a very literal sense — it is basically just the original story put to film. No real twists. Not usually my style, but hey, for what it was, it wasn't bad.
I was disappointed by the ending, though. Specifically the treatment of the step-family. And by "treatment" I mean lack of treatment. It's just "poof, they're gone, not important any more, hey look at Ella's pretty wedding dress!" Like, with all the emphasis the movie puts on having courage and being kind and such, I expected the ending to have Cinderella completely forgive her "family" and use her new queenly powers to give them a super fancy house and stuff and they would actually be cool with each other and everything would be great, but...nope. They're just gone. Like magic. I have to wonder if they actually had plans for other stuff to do with the step-family that they had to cut out due to time constraints, 'cause they really just vanish in a puff of narration.
"We're home, Chewie."i actually had absolutely no idea that this movie was this close to coming out.
the trailers don't look bad. i'm getting my paycheck soon, might save up some dough to go see this...provided that it comes out here in a reasonable amount of time.
I saw it with a bunch of friends and on the line I forgive you. everyone was completely silent and except my friend who yelled out "I don't."

"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobWell, I think the anti-climax of it is kind of the point. In the one moment that Cinderella can finally and justifiably be an utter bitch to her step-mother in the same awful way that she's been treated for YEARS, she doesn't. Its a contrasting point. Where Tremaine would be awful and treat her worse, Cinderella doesn't.
Finally saw this, with my sister. She's quite The Snark Knight, so I honestly surprised to learn that Cinderella was her favorite princess. Long story short, she explained that to her Cinderella's situation is most relatable of all the princess and the solution was the most plausible. We all might find ourselves in an oppressive environment with throughly unpleasant people. Not all of us might find ourselves fighting an invading army or suddenly mute while transformed into a different species. And the problems we most often encounter don't often solutions don't often get solved with stabbing a giant dragon or placing one's life on the line. But we can all keep positive and show mercy in any situation, and that's why that lesson is worth retelling.
The comedy in this film sometimes got overwrought, but the drama, the characters, and the staging are exactly as magnificent as I hoped they'd be. It's nice to not get let down by a film one really believed could turn out good.
I must say though, it must be strange for a lizard or goose to be turned human. All you've known your whole life is "Peck for food, waddle, sleep" then suddenly "WHATISLIFEWHATARETHESETHOUGHTSMYHANDSLOOKSOWEIRD WHATDOESTHEUNIVERSEMEAN-" (three hours later) "...food, honk, waddle. Was I thinking of something? Meaning of the univer- oh look, food."

"I can't drive. I'm a goose."
Perfect delivery on that one.
And it's implied throughout that the animals have some level of awareness, like the mice.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectSomeone made an interesting commentary on it and really Cinderella's whole character being more "feminist" than people give her credit for.
That was arguably her strongest scene because she was showing that she was better than her abuser.
Insightful post. Also because there really would be no point to revenge afterward. Her stepmother can't hurt her anymore. Why bother with making her more miserable than she's already made herself.
Them movie animals are always smarter. It's probably the effect of me following a guy who is so confused by the non-sapience of his dog.
Saw this with my grandmother last week. I really liked it. Retellings and versions of Cinderella will always have a place in my heart.
Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersSo the film is out on DVD and Blu-Ray now, and there are plenty of deleted scenes. Reportedly this is the full list. And here's a few of them.
Wow...
You know, it would have been a longer film, but I wouldn't have minded at all. Cinderella is heavily criticized as a romance born in a single night so a longer build up romance would have been welcome and feeling they had a stronger connection.
"She seemed to care a lot with her BSOD singing." Is there any way that she could have behaved that would have expressed not caring?
