I think a caption like, "How to customise a gown for battle," or, "What a battle-customised gown looks like," would be enough to make it workable. Not the best, but certainly not pull-worthy.
Check out my fanfiction! What the duck said.
Not worth pulling, but I'm surewe can do better.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. The caption definitely needs to be changed, but really, couldn't the image at least show the girl actually doing some action? I can't even tell who that person is supposed to be, or what she's supposed to be doing unless I click on the image link (and even then it's not so clear).
I think the images linked from the Comic Books examples pictures the trope better. E.g. this◊ or the fourth row of this◊ comic (first three panels).
We can see the slit, the jagged edges, and wide action stance. It would be nice to see a full shot of her so we know there's action, but the current is good enough.
4.1 is better for me than the current, and the current caption has to go. Not sure what 4.2 is.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt's the guy realizing that with her long dress, she'll run slowly and get crushed by those things, but with the bottom of the dress torn off, she can run faster and they'll get past them.
Clock is set.
Alright. Is everyone OK with 4.1 replacing the current image?
I think that's worse than the current.
Check out my fanfiction! She looks more surprised, rather than being "in action", though

I agree with that assessment.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNo, I'm not okay with replacing the current.
Sleeping Beauty◊ from Shrek III?
Only if brightened.

The left could be cropped off a bit too, but it's not urgent.
That's a very good suggestion.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I approve of 17.2.

+1 for 17.2
I like 17.2 as well.
Re-clocking this since we've still got votes coming in for a new option.
Best version so far for clarity.

The current image only shows the lower half of someone wearing a torn dress. At no point does this image try to show that "action" are involved, and this is not just a case of Clothing Damage. The caption adds nothing to the illustration either, except a possible meta-reason why this trope is played (which really have nothing to do with the in-universe application of the trope).
