You're probably right, but Ember and Torch still felt really cliche and insipid.
Halper's Law: as the length of an online discussion of minority groups increases, the probability of "SJW" or variations being used = 1.Yeah, I think saying that everyone outside of the ponies have no knowledge of Friendship is overstating things. So far only the Griffons and Dragons seem to be opposed to the concept, and even then there have been individual griffons who seemed to get along with ponies just fine (Gustav, the griffons who took part in the Equestria Games), and all the dragons we'd seen had been loners (Dragonshy and Owl's Well). Honestly, I thought that the griffons having such issues made way less sense than the dragons, since we'd seen griffons who had been part of pony society already.
I guess I could see it. Ember is pretty much a straight Tsundere crossed with a Rebellious Princess, but despite being pretty archetypical I think she fit into the story pretty well. Torch is enough of a large ham that I can forgive the fact that his personality isn't particularly interesting. TL;DR they are pretty cliche, but I wouldn't call them insipid.
I'm just glad that Spike finally got a focus episode where he solves the problem rather than causing it with his incompetence.
Anyway, I'm going to bed now.

Reaction Image RepositoryKind of a filler episode to me
Seriously... Whiskey! Tango! Foxtrot!... You cannot have freaking 'filler' in an episodic show where every single damned episdoe is self contained barring just the barest of connecting plot threads. STOP USING THAT AS AN INSULT, It makes no freaking sense, at all, it is totally, fully, entirely, and objectively WRONG! in every possible sesne of the term.
Okay so ep.... definitely the best Spike ep bar none. Still, something about it just.. wasn't AS epic as it should have been, felt a bit to rushed or something, just, some aspect felt a tad off. The lack of adult dragons was one part of it. Could come up with reasons for that. The way character interactions went by and were so by the book? Just, something about it felt off. It felt like I should have loved this more then I did.... and not fully sure why not. Still solid 4/5 best Spike ep ever, and a big apology for the waste of potential that was Dragon Quest.
What is this Friendship you speak of?"?? By god it's like the rest of the non-pony world treat friendship like it's some kind of curriculum!
Well if you want the overthinking it answer: They're probably exaggerating. But also, it's a matter of identity politics. The ponies constantly praise friendship, so dragons distinguish themselves by rejecting everything pony.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayThis.
Also yeah Dragons have already proven to be a very solitary creature on the whole.
With Griffons, keep in mind being THAT huge of douchbags and antisocial was also a result of environment. While Griffons might be gruff and what not, going that far was also in large part a specifically "Griffonstone" thing more then a general "Griffon" thing, Being in such a shit hole for their whole lives made the Griffons negative tendencies grow and take center stage.

Still not as bad as the filler on the news. I've been watching the news for years, but it never seems to go anywhere. Sometimes I'm not even sure what the plot is supposed to be.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayThe news has a Kudzu Plot. It seems like every five minutes they start a new plot thread, and they almost never finish it.

I can't stand all the Big Bads. It seems like every week there's a new one that they drop without ever dealing with them.
This song needs more love. Thanks you Serapham. I can't believe people keep trying to see "filler or canon" episodes in a show that doesn't really have any.
Remember that dragon who wanted to steal all the pillows from Equestria? Does he have a canon or fanon name yet?
EDIT: Ember painted herself for her disguise, then it washed off in the water. That's some cool attention to detail.

I didn't write any of that. Not that I have heard. But for the short time I will be thinking about dragons, I will refer to him as Finn because of that one episode of Adventure Time with the pillow fort.
I just got the pun of on your marks.
Post of the Day #1431
Really Ginger, you'd rather have a stroke of luck defeat the villain? You know it's possible to outsmart someone without them looking like an idiot. Intelligence is not a binary state you know, you can have a smart villain who is just barely outmaneuvered.
Which episode was that?
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...Wow, that paint thing is awesome. I was wondering about the stream of green on the beach, but didn't notice the rest.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Meta: I also find her design interesting in that the pattern in her scales somewhat resembles Rarity's cutie mark.
SPIKEXEMBER CANON
Reaction Image RepositoryKind of wondering how much shipper wars there will be between Sprarity shippers and Spike/Ember shippers.
I was just reading the summary of a Buffy episode on TV Tropes, and it's a bit surreal since every time it says Spike, I picture Spike the dragon.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayIs Buffy still a thing, even?
Halper's Law: as the length of an online discussion of minority groups increases, the probability of "SJW" or variations being used = 1.The show is over, but I think there are comic continuations still being made.
This song needs more love. There's also the fact that TV Tropes started out as a Buffy fansite, so of course there's still gonna be lots of talk about it here to this day. Also Story, there's a character in the show named Angel, and he and Spike apparently don't get along. Remind you of anything else?
Did Spike ever not get along with Angel? More than Angel usually doesn't get along with people, I mean? I'm not sure they've even interacted outside of Just For Sidekicks.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI don't think Angel really gets along with anyone.

Well, I for one welcome our new pony overlords.
changelings: collectivist.
gryphons: individualist.
dragons: individualist.
ponies: friendshipist.
breezies: friendshipist.
Bison: unknown.
Not everyone is all like what is friendship. I think it would be weird to not do that for dragons though.
