The 3D effects are easy on the eyes, and even shows on the character portraits!

Unfortunate nothing. Wayforward's got a sense of humor about it anyway so I ain't even got a reason to be mad about the boobage.

It took me a while to figure out the squid oil. Then I was like duhhhhh once I did.

I love the idle animations for the women in this game so I have zero complaints about the boobology. the zombie girl's is cool too.

Speaking of Japanese and boobage, here is perspective of this guy with weird gimmick on why it might not be inherently "bad", I don't take stances on this, but felt like adding something to conversation so its not just "So? Japanese are pervs"

In shinto mythology I remember reading how the Japanese islands were formed from sex or something.

So like no duh they treat such stuff with less OMG compared to Western audiences.

Ye, but they ARE ultra conservative society <_< At least everyone in Metroid thread seems to agree on that :p Difference is, at least according to that video I don't know about these myself, that they are better seperating privage life from public while in western society we have grown to think that its shameful in private as well

Hmmm even so I think they aren't as conservative regarding sex as the US is, though then again there's stuff like the porn censorship which they must realize by now is completely stupid.

Well, I guess it helps they haven't grown up in society were sex is considered sinful and sin meaning you might get thrown to hell tongue Even though I'm pretty sure that doesn't apply to all forms of christianity, just catholism maybe and some really conservative protestant faiths

US society doesn't consider it a sin, that's flat out BS(except cheating which is wrong sinful or not). There are those in society who do have this irrational fear of it but people on the internet need to stop overblowing how the US treats sex. We aren't freakin Saudi arabia lol.

EDIT: oh you meant christians/catholics...I still think you're exaggerating.

Fun fact: the US forced censorship laws on Japan after WWII forbidding depiction of down there hair and schlongs. Some of the particularities of Japanese porn originated as a way to loophole around this weird post-war provision. Therefore America is largely but not entirely to blame for tentacles.

And that is far from on-topic.

Tentacle nasty has been around far before WW 2 dude, there's even some old erotic artworks depicting such such. My J-history knowledge is quite limited but you can't blame the US on that particular oddity although that does kind of explain how the silly porn censorship started, although it doesn't explain why it's still there.

It had been around but it became more of a thing when they needed a censor friendly dong substitute.

Prior to that it was more of a shore thing for people who gaze in awe out at the boundless oceans and wonder, wonder what possibilities it contains.

And came to a similar but significantly different conclusion as Lovecraft.

As for why its still around: Ideas have inertia. As do dumb laws.

I have to say though, the zombie forest level was probably my least favorite part so far. Hoping there's nothing else like it later but I think there will.

I told Way Forward a sad, sad story that I still think about to this day.

I saw the original Shantae in the February 2002 issue of Nintendo Power and immediately set out to buy it. Eventually I did—box, manual, shrinkwrap, the works. And, using that NP issue, despite dying a lot I completed the first dungeon.

And then I got stuck. And somewhere along the way... I either sold back, gave away, or just plain lost my cartridge copy of Shantae.

I kick myself to this day over it, and sometimes I still hold out hope that I'll find it again.

The Protomen enhanced my life.
