So...anything new?
I'm curious myself.
Is the game out? What's the verdict? Good enough to forget all the shit that came up during its creation, or buried by its own bad press?
One Strip! One Strip! It's not out yet.
Oh.
Well then, I'm betting most won't bother. Inafune really dropped the ball. A shame too.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah, the only news is the one from January 25 saying it was delayed again. Nothing since then.
The Protomen enhanced my life.So radio silence?
Figures.
"Good enough to forget the faults" is kinda silly concept.
The fact that he totally screwed up managing the project is a fact that is not going away. Maybe he'll learn not to bite off more stretch goals than he can chew, maybe not. But if he sticks to making games under his own management, nobody will expect them on time. Nobody will forget, if he KS's games again, they'll suffer from that.
Buut they may forgive if the game is good enough. The people won't back his next KS so much (which is a good thing by reducing the stretch goals bloat), but will buy it when it comes out.
If the game is bad, though, he's pretty much done.
Why would there be anything n- oh, right, the game's supposed to come out this month. Huh. Completely forgot about that (again) until I saw this thread pop up in my watchlist.
Yeah, I'm pretty hyped up for this. Can't you tell?

Well if they pull up on 30th it'll still be technically not another delay

At this point I'm just wondering if the game will come out before I graduate college. I pledged to the campaign in my first semester and in a few weeks I'll be done with my third year. Inafune has one more year.
Not to mention creating what is apparently the worst Ninja Gaiden game (Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z), with blatant self promotion for Mighty Number 9 in the first place.....
Watch SymphogearThe game's supposed to come out this month? Last I heard it was Q2 2016.
The Protomen enhanced my life. It's supposed to be released sometime this quarter, yeah.
And I know harping on Inafune feels like bullying at this point, but I can't say that I'm at all surprised by the backlash he's gotten. Heck, I myself had beefs with him while he was at Capcom. Him leaving the company and starting his own studio, with it's own MM-esque game sounded to many MM fans like him flipping the bird at the "evil corporation that hates their favorite franchise" and their many questionable business practices, until you realize that he was the one behind much of the latter (the shutdown of Clover Studios, outsourcing many games to no-name Western devs, a strive to Westernize all their franchises, etc).
Heck, Inafune seems to be a sort of George Lucas-esque person; someone who wants total control of his projects and hates the higher ups meddling with them, even if the meddling can lead to better decisions. Some have even speculated that him leading Capcom to do much of their maligned choices in the past was him trying to sabotage the company as a way to get back at them for constantly altering and interfering with his plans for the Mega Man franchise. Basically, he wanted to leave them in a bad spot before he left. Just look at his mood during many interviews with him while he was still at the company. He seemed really downbeat, and constantly praised the West for having apparently "superior games", called Japan's game industry dead countless times, and overall didn't appear all that optimistic. Once he left, he was all cheery and upbeat during interviews.
Now he basically has total control of a game, one that will not have to worry about execs interfering with the development, and which has an adoring fanbase behind him that believes he can do no wrong, with said fans being the ones giving him the funds to makes the game. Because of this, Protection from Editors I feel is very much in play, as all the things that may have been suppressed or kept in check regarding him while he was at Capcom are now front and center, and it's left many people dismayed, wondering where he went wrong. Except all those problems may have indeed been there from the beginning, but now without a publisher looking over his shoulder, they are left to roam freely.
Compare this to someone like Hideki Kamiya. While he is also strongly against Executive Meddling, he never felt any sort of major resentment towards Capcom, unless they did something really stupid or disrespectful (like leaving out the staff roll from Okami). Heck, he has even come to peace with the vastly different direction the Devil May Cry series took without him guiding it, and even approved of the spinoffs made for the Viewtiful Joe series. It's also telling that, while he did indeed leave Capcom, he still chose to make his projects under the funding and eye of big publishers like Sega and Nintendo. The results have been much more well-received and far less in terms of controversial decisions. Heck, he's even willing to work with Capcom again should an opportunity arise.
In short, I feel like Inafune is someone who does need some sort of major publisher or editor looking over him, but that's something that he dislikes greatly, and may have shown that resentment through his actions at Capcom. Now he doesn't have to worry about that, and we're finally seeing what he's like as a developer when left with no one but the fanbase to fund him and give him advice.
Heck, it's telling that the people who left Capcom that continued to be successful are the ones who still chose to work under big name publishers and allowed themselves to show restraint. Inafune, the founder of Comcept, runs the show completely by himself and listens to mainly his heart when it comes to designing his games. This backfired on him. Kamiya, while still relying on his heart, is also willing to play game with the publishers and also listens to his brain when making decisions for his projects, which has led to much better reception and less backlash.
Well hopefully he'll learn from this.
If the game is genuinely good, it might help a bit. But he needs to realize his limitations.
One Strip! One Strip!I'm not sue if that article has any actual information :\ It seems to just go over what we already know.
The lack of any updates IS worrying, though.
The Protomen enhanced my life.At least this game isn't a scam. It's definitely a thing that exists. It just seems to have been mismanaged to hell and back.
It doesn't really. Just drumming up noise and clickbait. Especially with quoting some random "Ooh I hope they'll get sued" guy.

The info from the CEO is new.
Dunno about the clickbait article but the box art sleeves are out in few stores so the it might be releasing in the latter half of Spring?
Kinda weird how Ray's stage is renamed from 'Abandoned Lab' to her title, "Vermilion Destroyer", instead. Or is it just like an ownership, like 'Vermilion Destroyer's Lab"?
How you guys feel about finally seeing the back of the box art?

I don't think calling the game a scam is exactly clickbait anymore, considering it's been delayed about five times now with features removed and with Inafune already trying to do more Kickstarters while this one game that got funded is struggling. I think that Kamiya said it best when he said that Inafune is a businessman, not a creator.

Sex-negative outrage culture and the Illuminati are realQu'est-ce que c'est? Features removed?
This project was far from a scam. It has been delayed three times for good reasons. Really, the biggest factor working against this project were the "fans". Red Ash was poorly timed, but also made sense given that the main team was freed up and was available to start work on something else. However, Comcept had burned some of its good-will and people saw it as money grubbing. Unfortunate, really.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI honestly think they were trying to do too much; an international release on all major consoles with netplay? Does that seem plausible given the limited resources they've had.

Didn't count on me having an actual answer did ya?
