Back when I was playing Pokemon Stadium 1(US version), my Persian got Bide off before it would be K.O.'d, defeating the Onix, and getting just that perfect crit.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.Often this sound does me in (dumb mice), but on occasion it's saved me from certain doom. In particular; I beat Frank by putting him to sleep and getting crit after crit on him. And then there was the follow up boss, Frank Jr.. I also managed to hand it's robotic ass to it via a steady stream of SMAAAAASH.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaSo many much-needed ubersaw crits it's not even funny. It's been making me use the weapon (and melee in general) a lot more seriously now.
I'm pretty sure the concept of Law having limits was a translation error. -WanderlustwarriorPokemon is still one of the few games that can make me actually shout in rage because of the CPU getting criticals when I happen to have a type advantage or on my last pokemon ruining everything.
But what really gets me is when they start nailing criticals in succession or every other turn.
At that point I just feel cheated.
Once I was playing Pokemon online (back in Gen IV), and me and the other guy were down to our last Pokemon: my Tyranitar versus his Electrivire. He's faster, Cross Chops, misses (80% accuracy, fuckers). I go second, Crunch, crit him, and KO for the win. I even apologized afterwards.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I only remember the ones used against me.
Needless to say I'm not big on chance in games without it being thorough enough (like XCOM is fine because it's built on it, not big on it in Team Fortress 2)
In-game in Pokemun Platinum. I send out Houndoom, and the enemy trainer sends out an equal-level Gyarados. Any sane player would switch out. Any sane player.
Enemy Gyarados flinched!
Houndoom used Thunder Fang! It's super effective! Enemy Gyarados fainted!
Are we finished? Nope. The enemy trainer sends out his second Pokemon, and it's another Gyarados. Same level. Houndoom is now sitting at -2 Attack.
Enemy Gyarados is fully paralyzed!
Houndoom used Thunder Fang! It's super effective!
Enemy Gyarados flinched!
Houndoom used Thunder Fang! It's super effective! Enemy Gyarados fainted!
Raiden Houndoom wins! Flawless victory!

Panhandling sign glued to hands. Need $5 for solvent.Sometimes in Team Fortress 2 I do get that absolutely perfectly timed crit...
Best had to be dealing with a perfectly-entrenched sentry nest. I had an entrance I'd been plugging at for a while on 2fort (rocketjump up the grate) that let me into the enemy base facing the backs of their sentries so I had some reaction time, but everytime I try to angle them out with rockets, I get loltorched by a pet pyro. Eventually I sicken of this and charge in blindly before I quit. Artemis at that point decides I earnt a crocket. I still died, but I wiped out their engineers and pet pyro so our failspy could come through and sap everything unabated.
Curse the ill fortune that led you to me.Except thunder fang is 4X effective against Gyrados while his water moves are only 2x effective against Houndoom(though he gets STAB), and depending on the level he might not have any strong water moves yet.
What's this we're talking about?
Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman.Mabinogi's one game where you can count on crit hits happening for you at some really opportune times, especially considering there's a passive skill that ups it's effectiveness as you rank it up. And that' s not even getting into various weapon upgrades and such that boost the chances of it happening. Incidentally, one of the training requirements from it involves TAKING crit hits from the enemy.
It's really satisfying to take out an enemy with one that's been annoying you. Especially since some battles can be decided in a few decisive hits.

When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefExcept Thunder Fang is a weak, non-STAB move running off of Houndoom's lesser offensive stat, which is cut further by Intimidate, and Houndoom is not built to take hits from Gyarados' base 125 attack, super effective or not. Besides, I just crunched the numbers, and Houndoom benefited from hax in the vicinity of .02% likelihood.

Panhandling sign glued to hands. Need $5 for solvent.Dude wtf, Relicanth not only landed 3 blizzards in a row on Ferrothorn today, scored a critical off one of them, but actually managed to freeze me TWICE? I can barely ever manage to freeze someone with ice beam and yet this guy does it twice in one battle with a 70% accuracy move arrgrgrrgrgrh.
Critical Hits are the bane of existence
And then there was silence
A thread for appreciating the few times when the random number god smiles upon us mortal beings.
For you guys, what is the most perfectly timed critical hit in any video game you have ever played?
This one was a bit recent; in Fire Emblem Awakening, during Walhart's paralogue, I kept dying, because of the fifth turn reinforcements, which are Impossible to defend against. When I made Chrom face Walhart, bam, Aether, directly followed by a Critical Luna.
