I would definitively stick to expanding the current page (on moving the current definition elsewhere, I am not decided) - I think that the interaction between two dates set some interesting aspects in a Double Date.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanRe-clocked.
So people have had mixed feelings on whether having a trope for a simple double date would be People Sit On Chairs or not. I, personally, don't see the harm in it since as a stock plot I think that's worth noting.
As for a rename... how about Double Date Tension? Yes, the tension could theoretically mean anything, but I think that there's not a whole lot else it can be about. Seems like a good compromise between zippiness and clarity.

Alright, so we just need a new name. Throwing another one out there: Double Date Drama. A bit unclear, but I just like the way it sounds.

Link to TRS threads in project mode here. Can we call this and move on to a name crowner?
It is called; we're currently brainstorming names.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.If it is called, why is the crowner still open?
Because Willbyr forgot to actually close the crowner, I guess.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAlt Titles crowner for the renamed trope.
I think the double date with cross-attracted people is too specific to be a trope, really. Motion to cut.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyThat sounds like a motion to expand to me - the plan was to expand the current page to cover double dates, period. The only difference between what you propose and the crowner proposal is that the old definition is junked in yours.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanConsidering there's a few good examples of the current definition already on the page, including one I had thought of without having ever looked at it (the one from Castle), I think it's rare but tropable.
I've seen it several times. There are well over 3 valid examples, and one of the examples is from Shakespeare. Sounds like a trope to me.

I added Mismatched Double Date. I'm kinda torn between that one and Wrong Partners Double Date. The latter is somewhat more specific while the former is more concise.
I definitely don't like the others though. Double Date Wrong Partner has sketchy sentence structure and looks like it is about the partner rather than the date itself, and the other listed options are way too unspecific.
Edit. after some consideration I'm sticking with Mismatched Double Date. It sounds more like something I could actually work into a sentence.

I rewrote it to be about the general thing — a double date. Not sure we need anything more specific, but if we do, it should go through YKTTW.
Goal: Clear, Concise and Witty
Crown Description:
Samaritan brings up other possible options, and I'm sure the other options were discussed earlier too.
