Interest Check: Dungeons & Dragons RP (With a Twist!)

Hey guys, it's been a while since I have been here and I would like to start a Dungeons & Dragons RP based off of either the 3.5 rules or the Pathfinder rules.

That being said, the setting would not be a published setting like Forgotten Realms or Eberron, but a different setting.

The setting is an alternate version of Earth where magic and fantasy races exist and the setting would be The Middle Ages circa 1100, with some differences (aside from the existence of magic, monsters, and other sentient races).

• The split of the Roman Empire between East and West did happen in the 4th Century as it did in real life, but with one key difference. The Western Roman Empire became Christian while the Eastern Roman Empire remained Pagan and still worshipped the Gods and Goddesses of Classical Mythology, while the Norse also never converted to Christianity. That being said, even with the collapse of the Western Roman Empire, much of Europe remains Christian and the Middle East is mostly Muslim.
• The Muslim Moors failed to take Spain and the Turks were defeated at Manzikert in 1071.
• The First Crusade happened more or less as it did in real life, but the Pagan Byzantines were spared from the Christian crusaders through bribery and allowing access to Greek ports in the Byzantine Empire.

The set up is simple, all races and classes found in the Players Handbook of D&D 3.5 are allowed (The same goes for Pathfinder if we go with that rule set instead), and it would be set initially in Jerusalem and the Crusader States but could branch out into other parts of Europe and Asia as the game progresses, and of course, more classes and races would be added as the RP grows and expands.

Ah. Interested, I guess. I hope that this doesn't go the way of your V:tR and V:tM R Ps.

It won't end up like those RP's, rest assured. I will do my best to continue them and not get distracted.

Probably gonna play a Human Paladin, an Elf Ranger or a Half-Orc Barbarian.

Interested but may I suggest that it be the Western Empire that remained pagan and the Eastern that became Christian? After all, it was Constantine who legalized Chritianity and who moved his capital to the east.

I was thinking cleric, but I'll have to consult with our GM (Paulie) to see how he thinks domains should be handled.

We will all start at Level 1 and as for domains, I will let you pick two domains starting out as a cleric. The only explicitly forbidden domain is the Evil domain.

I knew clerics got two domains, that's standard. I was more talking along the lines of what religions/gods get tied to what domains. (I'm thinking of making an Islamic cleric, just for the fun/challenge of it.)

Still need to work it out. I will try to stay up late and post one as soon as I can. I am thinking of using the basic character sheet from Pathfinder adapted to a play by post format.

Bumping to say I still am interested, but I may not have time to GM it, although I can play. I am staring college soon, so I will not have time to be GM BUT I will be a player as best I can.

I would like Sixth Saint to take over as DM.

Wait, what? I have absolutely no experience helming an RP, so I'd be a bad choice. Sorry, but I have to decline.

Mono deities should probably get ALL domains, with clerics being limited by the sect and culture of the time.

Mono deities are, perhaps, more amorphous entities with strong non-definition policies tied with their 'We sure do love us some free-will' concepts, therefore domains end up being tied with their followers, rather than themselves.
