Where is it on? What stance does it take on the issue of Burkas?
The first episode is up on Youtube.
The main character doesn't wear a burka most of the time. Instead, she makes it her superhero costume—she uses it to conceal her identity, and the loose fabric doubles as a glider. Since the bad guys are the Taliban with the serial numbers filed off, it's delightfully subversive. "You might be able to make me dress the way you want, but you could never make me think the way you want. And incidentally, are you sure you want me to dress like a cross between Batman and a ninja?"
That's awesome!
That's not a direct quote. It's my summary of the message the character sends.
I know! You are awesome too!
Thanks. I try.
My thoughts after watching this:
Most of the music's okay to good. The one immediately after the intro credits where she's catching eggs is great!
Splendid watercolour (or imitation watercolour) backdrops
The animation is stylish but weirdly halting, like stop motion. This is especially noticeable when characters talk. Intentional part of the style or just not enough server farm power to have smooth motion?
"I hate music!" from the head bad guy during the concert. Yeah. Definitely not Taliban...
Blimey, they got corrupt politicians in it as well. I might have to buy a hat to tip it to the production studio, and their chutzpah.
Best bit of news I've seen coming from Pakistan since, errr, for ever.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the animation is just...not very good.
The concept is good though.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot. This is definitely a GOOD show for kids to be watching - especially those in the setting and the times it speaks to. I like how it doesn't hold back about the issues plaguing Pakistan today, especially kids and women in general who are the future of said nation's growth.
While not something I'd completely keep up with myself, I'll admit, yeah - it is pretty awesome. And not just for sending a positive message with its core concept, either (or its blending of art styles, which is effective in helping bring it all together!).
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.I'm pretty sure as the show goes on, the animation will get more fluid.
Right now, I like this show on principle alone. A woman who adopts the Burka as a way to make herself a cross between a ninja and fucking Batman. And she fights with books, pens and other equipment?
Shut up and take my rupees.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceThe whole fighting with books factor...Burka chop!
(Real supporters of education should not vandalize books.)
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Just watched the first episode.
I feel that the dialogue is a tad awkward in places, and the animation's a little choppy, but it's so fucking awesome.
This show seems awesome. Its about this schoolteacher who fights sexist evil badguys in her Burka!
