That school headline sounds like something pulled directly from a tea party tract. It'll be a shame if even part of the allegations ends up true, the islamophobes practically drool over such stories.

[up] Well, the "Trojan Horse" probe is to be headed by ex-Met counter-terrorism chief Peter Clarke. It looks like the authorities are taking it very seriously. And on the subject of British Islamic Terrorism, the Abu Hamza terror trial begins with jury selection in the US.

Our results show that Chinese people do not equate Xinjiang separatists with Xinjiang civilians, even after Kunming. Eighty-seven percent of respondents agreed with the statement “Those who support terrorism in Xinjiang are only a small minority among Xinjiang civilians.”

Well, that's reassuring.

In the Portuguese channels, the Boko Haram kidnapping was reported only once or twice. Are there any possible areas where the girls are being kept by them?

In response to the attack caused by Xinjiang militants, these guys are deployed to the region to take care of them.

Snow Leopard Commando is a bloody fantastic name to give a SOF unit.

They used to be the Snow Wolf Commando Unit before the PAP went for a name change.

[up][up] "God has instructed me", he says. Pffffttt. Yeah, right. If he had actually read the Quran and the Hadiths properly while throwing away any cultural or personal biases, he'd be giving those girls back to their families and willingly handing himself over to arrest in utter shame and self-deprecation.

Boko Haram don't even have much - or indeed any - support among the local Muslim populace; it's not like the PLO or the Taliban, who, if you squint, at least have some underlying greivance which is halfway legit. They're just thugs.

Thugs with free reign to do more or less whatever the hell they want. Nigerian authorities are too busy arresting protesters who criticize the government's inaction to prevent it happening again today.

And let us pray that come it may (As come it will for a' that)

US, UK offer support.

Obama has dispatched military and technical experts to Nigeria following a request from the Nigerian government. Cameron has offered ISR aircraft and special forces.

Not content with enslaving a few hundred young women, Boko Harem has apparently slaughtered at least 150 people in the Nigerian village of Gamboru Ngala.

Boko Haram is apparently an extremely mysterious group. No one seems to know how many people are in it, where they live, who they are, or where they get their funding. They appear to operate more like an underground criminal organization than an insurgency movement.

For a sense of what we're talking about here, they've tried to ban teaching that the world is round and how rain forms.

Allah pisses it, I imagine.

Re: Boko Haram's backers

It's not clear to what extent you need backers to operate down there; they could survive just by banditry. One possibility is that it's intra-African regional politics. Rwanda did some extremely shady things during the Congo War, for instance. Could be one of Nigeria's neighbours isn't as friendly as they thought. It's a pretty cut-throat geopolitical environment down there.
