Ooh, good point! I apologize for that, my bad, wasn't thinking.

Okay, modified her backstory - it's now simply a mysterious jewel that merged with her wristwatch, and Nana is an enigmatic adviser that lives within the jewel. No alien empires or bug refugees to be seen.

And I still don't get *why* she's 'clearly dressed up as a magical girl but actually something else'? I created her *specifically to be a magical girl*, she wasn't some other concept I came up with separately.

Admittedly, I've now started writing up a script for a TV show that follows her story, but that was after I came up with the character concept for this RP! And even so, the show ("The Adventures of Naida at the End of the World") is itself created as a somewhat typical Magical Girl Warrior show, albeit with the aesthetics (cute heroines and powers vs ugly evil monsters) reversed and some occasionally more depressing moments.

@Even: Mostly due to the fact that if you take away the clothes, your character appears to be much more at home in either a superhero or sci-fi rp.

But...

I still don't get it. What's the difference? *Why* is she 'more like a super hero' than a Magical Girl or a Magical Girl Warrior, when the latter is basically if 'a Magical Girl was also a super-hero'?

It's not like she has a super hero title or an 'arch-nemesis', her rival in the 'series' is quite literally the most generic Magical Girl of all time (white and blonde, naive and book dumb but outgoing and kind, dressed in a mixture of pink and white, uses forcefields and pink heart-shaped blasts that 'purify peoples hearts' (AKA brainwash them)) and her powers do indeed complicate her life.

Heck, she doesn't even have any training or powers of her own, it all comes from the crystal/transformation. *And* she doesn't just use her powers to save the day - on numerous occasions in the series she winds up abusing her powers for her own ends, though usually with disastrous consequences.

Really? You imagine her in a 'proper' sci-fi or super hero show? With that get-up and back-story? I'm sure I could totes squeeze her into the Marvel Universe or Star Wars or Mass Effect, no problem. :/

I try to take the premise in interesting directions, try to add something a bit different, and then they come up with excuses why it won't work.

Yes she has. You just keep refusing to accept it. She doesn't think she fits, and she doesn't like the idea of the entirely new enemy faction you've added in. Please find something else and quietly drop this argument.

• Appearance: In her pallet suit◊
• Personality: Himawari bears an adoration for technology and hacking. She enjoys tinkering greatly, as well as studying technology and hacking in her spare time. Even after becoming more outgoing, she still tends to spend a great deal of time on the computer. She is also greatly attached to her hair clips, a gift from her Saegusa Wakaba. While she has become much more capable of interaction, Himawari is still very nervous around most people. She is also quite likely to become extremely enthusiastic over things her friends may find less-than-interesting, such as visiting a massive technological plant and taking an in-depth tour.
• Abilities: In addition to the baseline abilities of a Vivid System-user, such as flight, and docking, Himawari has...:
  • Weapon: Naked Collider - Himawari's specialized weapon, in the form of two yellow mechanical gauntlets on each arm. It contains two attachments on each arm, which can be deployed to deflect attacks by releasing energy to slow down the trajectory of incoming attacks. The force released is also capable of returning enemy attacks to the attacker.
  • Docking:
    • Docking Operation: Vividyellow Operation - Himawari merges with Akane, combining the two into a more powerful being with a shared consciousness.
      • Upgraded Weapon: Vivid Collider - Himawari's Naked Collider transforms into an octagonal shield that has a more powerful version of the Naked Collider's protective abilities.
      • Weapon: Vivid Engine - Himawari's Vivid Collider dismantles itself, transforming into a mechanism that gathers energy and releases it as a focused beam at an enemy target.
      • Final Operation - The energy gathered by the Vivid Engine is released, unleashing a destructive beam that can dissipate an enemy Alone's attack and destroy that Alone in a single shot.
• Equipment: In addition to her weapons when transformed, Himawari has a great deal of technological equipment, and her mighty hairclips of power.
• Skills: Himawari is highly intelligent, capable of technological engineering and hacking on very high levels for her age.

• Appearance: Civilian attire. Pallet Suit◊. Vividgreen.
• Personality: Wakaba possesses an unyielding character, but at the same time has a weakness for anything cute (especially Himawari, and Akane's sister Momo). She has a fear of bugs, but other than that she is generally resolute and rather hotblooded. Wakaba has great pride in both her abilities and her status as the inheritor of the Natural Harmony School, and thus finds it difficult to not challenge anyone who puts said skills into question.
• Abilities: In addition to the baseline abilities of a Vivid System-user, such as flight, and docking, Wakaba has...
  • Naked Blade: Wakaba's specialized weapon, in the form of a blade with two flat edges.
  • Docking Operation: Vivid Green Operation - Merges the consciousness of Akane and Wakaba into a single being. When they transform, Wakaba's appearance changes to an older version of herself, dressed in futuristic clothing that resembles a ninja's garb and has several metallic plates of armor decorating her outfit. In this upgraded form, Wakaba's sword transforms into the Vivid Blade.
    • Upgraded Weapon: Vivid Blade - The Naked Blade unravels itself, revealing a single blade edge twice the length of the Naked Blade, made out of pure energy. The users can gather energy and increase its overall damage output to at least 200%.
    • Final Operation - Wakaba and Akane charge towards an enemy at blinding speeds and delivers a slashing attack. It can destroy an empowered Alone with one slash at 200% power output.
• Equipment: Discounting the weapons she uses whilst transformed, Wakaba is rarely seen without her shinnai. Just like Akane, she also has an Operation Key, although hers is green instead of red.
• Skills: Wakaba is the inheritor of the Natural Harmony School of kenjutsu; she is a very skilled swordswoman, one of the best in Japan even despite her relatively young age.

• Name: Ayumu Aikawa
• Age: 16
• Gender: Male
• Appearance: Pretty in pink.◊
• Personality: A calm and laid back person, Ayumu is a bit lazy and enjoys his peace when he can. He enjoys being able to relax and is of a somewhat sleepy temperament that is hard to anger and quick to cool down. Once roused by decisive action though, he can become hotblooded and very aggressive, though he still retains a strong set of morals. Besides this, the boy derives pleasure from snarking, which he is also vey good at.
• Abilities: Being a zombie, Ayumu is an immortal in certain ways. He can survive being dessicated or having his vitals destroyed, though it takes him quite a while to patch himself up again. If his body parts are too far away from each other, then there's no way he can pull himself together again without help. Fire and strong lights are one of the surefire ways to cause intense damage to him and outright destroy him, at least pre-transformation. Another part of his powers as a zombie is his super strength, which is strong enough to take on some monsters without magic entirely. He has to deal with the recoil from using this ability though.
  • He also has the ability to turn into a Masou Shoujo, where upon he is armed with an enchanted pink chainsaw named Misteltainn that can cut through many things up to and including stone, monsters, and steel. In exchange for embarassment, the boy can reach the percentage 1000% in this form as well as utilize slight magics such as memory erasure to ensure his embarrassing secret stayed a secret.
• Equipment: Misteltainn- A chainsaw designed to act as the catalyst of the Masou Shoujo powers while supplying a cutting edge to the wielder's arsenal. It is much sharper and more durable than a regular chainsaw is. By using it to turn into magical girl form, it supplements the boy's inherent zombie weakness.
• Skills: (things they can do without supernatural help or transforming)
• Miscellaneous: Ayumu is a rather good cook. His weakness of fire and sunlight goes away when in masou shoujo form.

• Name: Adhara Gloaming
• Age: 16
• Gender: Female
• Appearance: Long, grey-blue hair and blue eyes
  • Costume: A grey-blue Grecian-looking knee-length dress, with a dark blue short cape (to her back. On the inside of the cape appears to be patterns of stars and nebulas. Also, floating around her waist are multiple silvery zodiac symbols made of light.
• Personality: Adhara has a rather straightforward personality, and doesn't really get social nuances. Thus, she has trouble making friends.
• Abilities: Adhara's powers are based around the zodiac symbols that circle her. Each symbol has a different power, but she can only use two at a time, and there are a few seconds of delay between switching. Also, some of her symbols are sealed for unknown reasons.
  • Aries: Creates a magic shield - a glowy white zodiac wheel about the size of Homura's buckler. It can also be grown much bigger and made to float in front of Adhara.
  • Taurus: Super strength
  • Gemini: Creates an illusionary duplicate
  • Cancer: Makes an armor on top of her costume.
  • Leo: ?
  • Virgo: ?
  • Libra: Gives super-senses
  • Scorpio: Creates a magical sword
  • Sagittarius: Creates a magical bow

You guys still accepting characters? I've been thinking about joining as either Mai or Subaru, though I'm not sure how easy either would be to mix into the hybrid universe.

Because I just remembered I'll be away from a decent internet connection for a few days and posting from a phone sucks for long things, I may as well throw down a character sheet. I decided to try Mai out for now:

• Name: Mai Tokiha
• Age: 16 (I think, I don't remember if it was specified)
• Gender: Female
• Appearance: Mai◊ - at school◊, with Elements and CHILD◊.
• Personality: A friendly and generally cheerful girl with an impressive work ethic, Mai takes the idea of responsibility seriously. She hates burdening others with her problems and is likely to suffer in silence while she tries to solve them alone, putting on a happy facade for everyone else. At the same time, she works hard to look after those she thinks need help. Sometimes she can take this sisterly instinct a bit too far, though, and has come off as smothering in the past. This sense of responsibility also forces her into conflicts she would rather avoid - she doesn't like violence, but she also hates the idea of doing nothing when she has her powers.
• Abilities: When she summons her Elements (four golden rings that hover around her wrists and ankles) she can -
  • Produce blasts of fire, either in flamethrower sprays or thinner beams
  • Fly/levitate, although not much faster than running speed
  • Project a shield. Her Elements are extremely durable too and can ward off blows in a pinch. Apart from that, she has no other defensive powers
  • Summon her CHILD, Kagutsuchi (see below)
• Equipment: Not much besides her Elements.
• Skills: Is a great cook and knows first aid.
• Miscellaneous:
  • Mai is accompanied by her CHILD, Kagutsuchi, a huge dragon-like creature◊ that she can summon at will. Kagutsuchi is very tough, can fly much faster then she can, and is capable of producing fire blasts that range from thin "lasers" to 10-foot explosive fireballs. He is more intelligent than a simple animal, is fiercely protective of Mai and usually follows her commands.
• Franchise: Mai Hime

• Name: Hibiki Tachibana
• Age: 14-15(?)
• Gender: Female
• Appearance: "I AM BACK AND IT'S TIME FOR YOUR RECTAL EXAM!"◊
• Personality: A kind-hearted cheery person although at times she can seem a bit aloof. Her hobby is helping others as well as singing and hanging out with her friends, especially Miku. Another thing to note about her is that she will eat absolutely anything as long as it tastes good!
• Abilities:
  • Adept Fist Fighter: She has a habit of Casting Fist.
  • Flight
  • Superhuman Strength, Endurance and Speed
  • Rocket Punches and Kicks
  • Swan Song: Can put everything into a single song. Acts as a desperate move. Since Hibiki is more in-tune with the Symphogear (as it is part of her), the reprocussion of using it isn't enough to kill her.
  • Berserker Mode: If Hibiki comes into contact with the Relic known as Durendal or has been under significant emotional stress, Hibiki can go Berserk. She will attack anything around her. It is possible to knock her out of this state if you appeal to her softer side (reminding her of her friends, family, beating it out of her, etc.)
  • X-Drive Mode: The true form of the Symphogear. Increases Hibiki's strength, speed and endurance. Also increases flight speed. (For starters, Hibiki was able to reach the moon by casually flying for a few minutes).
• Equipment: n/a (Gungnir's Fragment is inside of her so it's part of her body rather than equipment)
