Even though I thoroughly enjoyed Ninjago, I have to say I didn't care much for the pilot of Chima. It really lacked the charm and creativity that made the other Lego specials so appealing, atleast in my opinion. The animation is gorgeous, though.
I don't think I should expect much out of this. Ninjago was great because it's Lego's first cartoon series and it really stuck with Lego physics. Chima just feels too "Been there, done that" with the fact it has "Warrior animals" fight for "Some power". If they get inspiration from shows like "Thundercats", then that would be more impressive, but this just feels too commercial for my taste.
Pewww. Got that off my chest.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceAs a BIONICLE fan, I found the plot to be similar to the Core War. I wonder if someone somewhere is building a giant robot just in case the entire planet explodes.
With a '0', not an 'O'Doubt it. It's surrounded upon the forces of nature. whoopidy-freakin'-doo, Lego.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceGreg Farshtey is working on this too, you know.
With a '0', not an 'O'Looked up. Was impressed. Still skeptical.

too bad rhe one lion is such a blatant ripoff of lion-o, with the red mane and all
This.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceSo far watching the special and comparing it to the series. This is how I mostly feel.◊ The dialog could be better, but the storyline is entertaining. I got a thing for Kragar's sister.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceWatching it right now, hoping his turns out well. Though I think Lion-O's (I'm calling him that until I remember his real name) Dad is Lawful Stupid. He willingly gave power to people who are trying to screw them over because it's the rules? What An Idiot.

The episode was trying to teach us to treat others how you want to be treated, no matter how bad. Remember "God's""Golden rule": Love thy neighbor?
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI still think it's stupid to arm the opposing side who you know wants to destroy you and you know they will try again with or without the Chima. On the surface, the Golden Rule sounds good and it is something I like the initial sounds of. However, in it's simplicity, it fails. It's way more likely to do more harm than good and purely green lights behavior that will more likely than not backfire. Not that I'm against it, again. I rather do like Sun Tzu suggests in the Art of War where you pick and choose. While you should try to be as kind as possible on the whole, when you know someone wants war and chaos, if you can't pacify them, you make it so they cannot act on those intentions at all or else you're endangering the innocents in your country. And I personally think actively & knowingly endangering your own people as well as others because "It's the rules, it's our tradition" makes for a questionable leader. Hell, again to reference to the Art of War, Honor Before Reason such as that is warned against as one of the 5 paths to defeats.
So yeah. I can understand ethics going for there, but I see it as impractical. Not saying the opposite in no rules is better either, to note. I simply have to question his priorities, particularly because I remember that Honor Before Reason stuff coming up in the movie as well.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Back on Spherus Magna, when Energized Protodermis was discovered in the ice region, the Elemental Lord of Ice claimed the powerful substance for himself and the other Lords wanted some of that. And thus we have our Core War that blew up the planet.
With a '0', not an 'O'TL;DR
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceIf you're still going on about "BIONICLE" stuff, I never read it.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceBasically, in the worst case scenario, this will happen◊.
With a '0', not an 'O'Episode 4- The joy ride: Gee, I wonder what the lesson will be. Even though i've seen every cliche about underaged driving, I still ponder what the heck this will be about!
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI haven't watched a single episode of Chima yet, and so far, I don't plan to. I wasn't interested in Ninjago, and I'm definitely not interested in what is essentially LEGO Thunder Cats with none of the strengths of the 2011 show and the main characters all replaced by Captain Ersatz-s.
I apologize if I go off on a tangent here, but I sympathize with the people who consider Chima to be a Replacement Scrappy for Thunder Cats 2011 (one of the few good shows to come from Cartoon Network in a while, along with Sym Bionic Titan), even if such thinking is considered Hate Dumb. Thunder Cats 2011 fans have been endlessly clamoring for a second season, making petitions and tweeting the show when it aired on Toonami (and speaking of which, it actually did pretty good during its time on Toonami when it was in a good timeslot. Hell, it beat Naruto in ratings once, which is definitely saying something). Do we get a second season? Hell no. Instead, we get a show that is pretty much Thunder Cats in LEGO form and with the serial number filed off.
I will not be surprised if Chima fails spectacularly and people start spamming Cartoon Network's Facebook, Twitter, and whatever else they have with messages telling them to bring back Thunder Cats.
Also, I'm not trying to turn this into a complaint thread or anything similar, and I sincerely apologize if it looks like that. I just needed someplace to voice my opinion.

This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute.IMHO, Thunder Cats 2011 edition was the more grating series from the start. It had very little to follow up with or compare to the 80's series(Which is even more fantastic because they were essentially aliens who wore no clothes.)but as for this series, as grating and cliche as it is, it has one thing going for it that TC '11 didn't have: A real, damn good reason why the villain is the villain. Because he's posesed!... By his possible incestual sister. Also, They are part of a product movie production WHERE'S THAT DAMN THUNDERCATS MOVIE, HANNA-BARBARRA?!?
Honestly, you can still "complain" about it in The new Thundercats thread.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceEp.5 is on. the only good point I can find is that the theme song sounds alot like Sonic heroes.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceKicking this back up since it's back for a new season. Been watching it here and there, 2nd season is not bad thus far. Lavertus being Shadowind didn't surprise me. I actually predicted as such all the way back when it was first mentioned that only one other lion had ever been banished. Him being Evil All Along, however, is a bit more of a surprise for me. I was a bit suspicious at first due to how odd he is & fact he is banished, but figured it just related to him being a Cloudcuckoolander & he was a Misundertood Loner With A Heart Of Gold to more we saw of him initially plus added reveal of him being Shadowind.

Surprised no one has talked about this yet.
I find it like a mix of Ninjago and New Thundercats. I'm VERY skeptical about this one. Didn't like the specials.
