[up][up] grin

[up] I have yet to do that successfully. Then again, I've never been a part of an RP for long enough to do that… (Not because I quit—for me, it's usually either a super long hiatus that makes everyone forget about it or the RP closes altogether. Bad luck, man.)

Is everyone here still willing?

I shall make the discussion page later and, as I do still have a least one person who has told me they are still working on a profile, shall start in a few days if everyone is still here.

I'm here.

It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve.

I'm so sorry, I've been procrastinating and House of Leaves has been happening to me and…

Don't worry, I've got most of the stuff written down, it's mostly a few blank spots that I need to fill up. I'm not usually like this when the actual RP action starts, trust me. [hides in the corner]

Interested.

How does the Icon of Reflection sound? I'm thinking of making a character who can deflect/redirect attacks, but can't go on the offensive by himself.

(It seems like almost nobody wants to go with a more conventional element. I like that!)

[up][up]To be fair most conventional elements are off limits, as well as some standards of non-traditional

(Well, that's why I added the "more" into the equation. Still, it certainly calls for creativity on the players' part.)

Reflection would be allowed if you can come up with something good, yes.

I was kind of hoping people would go for more bizarre elements, so this is certainly a good outcome.

Alrighty, here we go!

Name: Dr. Russell Hardouin-Mansart

Gender: Male

Age: 72 (I'm willing to make him a bit younger, but I still want him to be above the average retirement age)

Appearance: Tall and lanky. Wears a suit that looks like it belonged in the 70's, and (of course!) has white Einstein hair coupled with a bushy Mark Twain moustache. He may not look like a body builder, but that's only because...he's not one. Dr. Mansart is certainly healthy and active for his age, but don't expect him to be running any marathons.

History: Russell Hardouin-Mansart was born in Norwich, England on the 13th of May, 1941. His mother was an author and amateur philosopher, while his father was a French immigrant and an architect for the city (supposedly, the architectural trade ran in Russell's family, for he shared his surname with Jaques Hardouin-Mansart, the famous architect of Versailles). Since he was a lad, Russell had been mezmerized by the tales of the past; so much so that he dedicated his career in revisiting (and hopefully rediscovering) works of the Western world, in hopes that reflection of the past would illuminate a brighter future. In his younger days, Dr. Mansart traveled all around the Americas and Europe, but he currently works as a professor of Western History and Literature at the University of Chicago.

Personality: Dr. Mansart certainly falls under the Absent-Minded Professor category, for he has the tendency to wander from topics of conversation; usually to replace it with an homage to some writer or philosopher that has been dead for centuries. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience that he is eager to share...even if his listeners aren't very eager to recieve it.

Element: Reflection

  • Powers

    • Deflection: The ability to absorb an attack (regardless of who makes it) and redirect its power in a direction of his choosing. The reflected attack is no stronger than it was when it was first fired, but its element is converted to a composition unique to Russell; one that is neither vulnerable nor superior to any element. To put it in Pokémon terms, Russell's "Counter" attack is never "not very effective," but it's never "super effective" either. tongue

What Dr. Mansart can and cannot reflect depends on the initial attack's size, speed, and strength. Every deflection costs the professor energy, so he needs to be sure he doesn't bite off more than he can chew, or else he'll get hurt in the process.

This is Russell's only form of offense, which means that he can never be the one to make the first move. He must rely on the enemy (or possibly his friends...?) to strike first.

  • Duplication: Dr. Mansart also has a bit of Illusion magic available, which allows him to mimic the appearance of a person/object onto another person/object. The spell is only visual, and doesn't fool any of the other senses (including sound), and only lasts as long as Russell can keep it intact (which he can't really do if he's getting pummelled! evil grin)

Other Notes: Dr. Mansart has recently become a widower; his wife and childhood friend passed away in 2011. He is still very sore about this subject, and does not tolerate any disgrace to Julian's memory.

Aside from Western literature and history, one of Russell's greatest passion is ice cream. He loves ice cream, but tragically cannot have any due to his diet. sad

Hey, age variety! (Hope Dr. Mansart there won't mind too much that he'll have to be stuck with a bunch of younglings for our mission.)

[up][up][up] Maybe they really wanted to prove me wrong? I'm not complaining, though—the more the merrier, regardless. tongue

Sorry for not explaining the powers too much.

Name: James Asthin, called "Jast" by friends

Gender: Male

Age: 24

Appearance: This guy, http://hasame.deviantart.com/art/Yukato-384285392 , but twitchy eyes and a patchy beard.

History: Before the electricity, James was a well known, liked guy. Born in Dallas Texas, he was a pretty well known kid: Had a good sense of humor, decent grades. As he got older though, he took a turn towards wild: Partied more, his profanity use went through the roof, got worse grades...etc. He did a total 180. Well, he kept that attitude after he got out, but his good side stayed deep down within him...somewhere. When he got chosen by the Idol of Electricity, the good side came out, angry for being imprisoned under that mean persona(just so you know, his personalities aren't actually alive, but the powers and such kinda made him crazy). So, he got the serious side. Also, the mean person that he was ripped off to become a participant in the battle for his mind. It became the not caring for anything, Goofy side. He technically became a highly impressionable blank slate.

Personality: James used to be a guy with slightly mixed morals, he still is, but with a small change. He used to change between sides in arguments when he felt the need, as to get the mostinformation out of it. After the "Merging" I guess it would be called, he now has constantly battling personas in his head. Just so that it is known, i'm not trying to steal Nick's personality idea. His main personality always has control, he just has voices in his head. It's only two different voices: Serious and Goofy. James can't make any decision on his own, so the voices tend to pitch in on his actions often. Also, he's skittish. Not in the shy way, but in the nervous way.

Element: Electricity

Powers:

  • His body is supercharged, meaning that whenever he runs a hand over any part of his body, electricity is generated and can spark/arch off of him. It may not sound like much, but most of the things he does come from it.
  • James is a Superconductor.
  • As a simple thing, he can charge/power up things that use electricity by rubbing them.
  • Doesn't get hurt by electricity.
    • Sidenote: He can just exert electricity if he chooses, but it doesn't come out as strong and is harder for him to do than running a hand over himself.
  • If he does just shoot it out, the electricity is more controlled.

He's more of an offensive player.

Other:

  • Gets hurt if in water, or of touched by it. The longer he is in water the more he will get hurt.
  • He twitches normally.
  • Sometimes he drains too much electricity and energy builds up in his body, scratching lets it out. It comes out in bolts which is why he tends to do it in less populated areas. If he doesn't scratch and gets too overcharged tesla-like arcs of electricity come out and latch onto people, while he hurts the more charged he is.
  • Very indecisive and impressionable, though he leans towards doing nicer things.

  • Name: James Witt

  • Age: 38

  • Appearance: Tall, has neatly combed light brown hair and wears a navy blue suit, with a different tie for every day of the week (mainly variations on the theme of light blue). His top pocket has a notebook poking out of it. Wears sunglasses constantly, even indoors. His eyes (On those rare occasions where he allows people to see them) are greyish-green, and he has a disconcerting tendency to look directly into people's eyes when talking to them.

  • History: Born in London in 1975, his mother an accountant and his father an american historian, James grew up vaguely resenting his parents for not being interesting enough. As a young man, he became determined not to be boring like his parents, learning martial arts, and going heavily into the arts, particularly literature. Things didn't turn out quite as he planned, however, and he now occupies an extremely junior position in the government. In order to relieve the brain-melting boredom of his job, he has taken to a bit of technically private investigation, using the From a Certain Point of View statement "I'm with the government," and a hastily flashed badge (Reading, on closer inspection, "Police Department Of Toytown") to Bavarian Fire Drill his way into investigations that interest him.

  • Personality: When "On the case", James acts like a stereotypical "Secret Agent". However, when he allows himself to drop the facade, he seems cheerful, upbeat, and personable. He harbours a special hatred for people who are only "in it for the money", although it can be difficult to tell, as when he gets angry, the only discernible difference (most of the time, anyway,) is that he starts hitting people. He has an immense distaste for guns, considering them to be too effortless. Since his becoming a herald, he has taken to carrying around a small crossbow and a dozen carefully dosed tranquilizer darts.

  • Element: Time
    • Powers:
      • He has the ability to, essentially, enter bullet-time, although technically he's speeding himself up, rather than everyone else slowing down. He can create "bubbles" of either slow-time or speed other people up similarly to himself. He can speed himself up by varying amounts, for different situations. He can also slow the passage of time over a limited area, allowing him to wait for days on end for an opportunity if necessary. He cannot bring time to a standstill, nor can he affect an area greater than about a hundred m3

Now if you don't mind, I am somewhat preoccupied telling the laws of physics to shut up and sit down.
