21.2 is alright, but just alright. I wouldn't mind not having a pic.

21.2 is better than a blank page. I don't care if we have to have a caption to make it work, it still works. You don't have to be familiar with the work to understand it, so it avoids JAFAAC. I don't like this misguided belief around here that if an image needs a caption, then it's automatically no good.

[up] How so? I've read the description, and they seem to fit the trope just fine.

I agree, 21.2 fits the description of the trope.

The answer in the caption is the problem. If you say that they aren't human, it's no longer "ambiguous".

So 21.2 works, but the hottip needs to go away and the tag has to note we don't want to tell.

Hmm... 21.2 doesn't work because they're not human. If you have characters like those in the town stages of Sonic Unleashed, who are ambiguously human, then that's OK, but I can't think of a way to illustrate that.

Leave it blank.

I'm so sorry that my avatar doesn't appear fully in the shot, but the cat was threatening the photographer.

How do we know they are not human?

Assuming the situation is considered clear-cut in-universe, that makes it Not An Example. A better example might be Star Control II, which has a galaxy full of very non-human Starfish Aliens... and also the Syreen, who are genetically compatible with humans but have no known common history, and the Little Green Men who would have been responsible if there actually is a connection aren't talking. Or individual characters (like Nobby, as mentioned earlier) who are closer to humans than any of the other possibilities but different enough to raise doubts and eyebrows.

Non-examples can make good page images, but given the confusion I don't think this is one of them. What's the difference between this image and the original, except that the one actual human is gone?

How about someone who canonically isn't fully human with someone else mentioning it?

We're at a week but the leader's not at a point where I'm 100% comfortable calling it. Any last-minute votes one way or the other?

The clock's way past due and this crowner went absolutely nowhere. Locking up; no action is to be taken based on this thread.
