Also, I can see how they could use her as Parody, since I thought she was going to be competition to Amy for Sonic's attention like Sally was in the comics. Or like the girl that never was in Sonic X-treme.

I find it sort've funny that I'm hyped by Shadow's near-appearance, when all the images so far featuring him just have him standing there.

True. I suppose it only stuck out to me because I watched the episodes back-to-back.^note That, and I feel that Perci has a higher chance of becoming a recurring character than Zoey at the moment.

Shadow's coming? I don't know how to feel about that, but I'm sure that the show incarnation will be better/more memorable than his Boom video game incarnations.

I know it's obvious by this point, and it's not something worth wondering about, but this episode proves that law enforcement does nothing about Eggman. You'd think he'd at least have a few warrents out for his arrest by now.

I liked the reveal that Knuckles didn't think Sonic was guilty and was just trying to protect him. That's a bit more characterization than I'd expect from this show.

At first I thought Metal had gone rogue like in Sonic Heroes. I was a touch disappointed to find out that it was Eggy's plan all along, but eh. What are ya gonna do.

First we had an episode featuring Perci, then not long after we get an episode featuring Metal Sonic, so I was wondering if Shadow was going to make an appearance. I go to this thread and lo and behold, he's coming. It's probably too much to hope that this episode will flesh him out and actually give context to his relationship to Sonic, huh?

Also, Sonic has a job?

Why did it take until the ass-end of the season to start bringing in characters from the video game? Was the game's production so screwed up that the people working on the show didn't know who would end up remaining in the game?

That probably did happen. But considering that there's leaked Rise of Lyric footage that shows Metal Sonic and Shadow on You Tube, I feel like saying that the writers are using those two as an last resort.

From what I recall, yes, this was exactly the case. Each of the teams working on the three Boom projects (Rise of Lyric, Shattered Crystal, and the cartoon) weren't really collaborating with one another, and due to all the shenanigans involved with the series' development, all three projects end up feeling like they're becoming different incarnations of the series. When the show started, only a few characters from the games were in it (i.e. Fastidious Beaver and the Mayor), and a lot of the recurring characters in the show aren't in either game. Most of this is just tied into the massive Troubled Production aspect of the series. Our site's Trivia page links to two articles that talk about the franchise's issues under that trope (the second article mentions the lack of collaboration though).

I've read those articles before. Very interesting, and I'm impressed at how much digging the writer was able to do.

Poor Sonic. Just when you think the series is out of its Dork Age, it trips right back into it.

To make matters worse, the comic of Sonic Boom couldn't use any character from the videogame, just the show.

The best thing Sega did was keep mainstream Sonic out of this. And even that didn't prevent people calling "death on Sonic".

That even includes Roger from Sonic Dissected, which is pretty optimistic (While being a complete cinic) about it.

Wait, Doctor Eggman has a father?

At this point, I like to think Eggman is not original with his robot designs. This is actually something that happens to some creators who has stuck in mediocrity, they always repeat the same mistakes. Just look at Adam Sandler, he repeats his formulas in all his movies

Plus, in the games, he does have the updated repeated Motobugs, Buzzkillers, and Crabmeat bots to do his bidding.

I like to think that just like show itself, Eggman works with limited time and budget, so obviously his robots repeat. Though to be honest, every other bot in this episode had original design, except for hippo bot.

So, Tails build machine that made Eggman harmless in free time, and apparently can't rebuild it. Way to go, brainiac.

You'd think Tails would remember or have the blueprints for that robot stashed somewhere...

He probably has. Like the theory once said, without Eggman, theres no fun, and Sonic freaks out and annoys the gang.

I hope the show hit a Cerebus Syndrome for an episode, because by the looks of it, Sonic Boom is pretty depressing.

Amy's opening line in the latest episode made me wonder "Is this show finally going to get a plot?" Sadly, no.

To be honest, I'm not sure this show would be able to do a continuing plot well. Everything up to now has been so irreverant that a plot with any degree of seriousness or continuity would probably feel out of place.

I'm getting a strange amount of enjoyment from Sonic, Amy, and Sticks being "hip."

Of course, not! He was a bit smaller, had different paint and different arms. I think they're taken from Cyclops Tank Bot...I mean, no, it's a fresh design.
