They called Christina Aguilera out for "appropriaton of the do-rag" oh wow.

Oh man my alpaca bamboo blanket must be really racist.

They'd probably call me out for slipping into a Scottish accent when I'm REALLY hammered (I am 1/3 Scottish), or my love of Puerto Rican rum despite not being Puerto Rican, and so on.

This tumblr person needs to get their head out of their ass.

Here is my personal rule on the appropriateness of Cultural appropriation.

• I wear whatever the hell I want.
• If you try to stop me ill hunt you down and kill you.

I mean, it's one thing to call someone out for misusing something that's actually sacred to a culture (like wearing a Plains headdress because those have to be specially earned) but "appropriation of the do-rag"?

Yeah, I'll concede that wearing sacred/religious items is kinda out of line and people should get called on that. But I mean a kimono or do-rag? WTF.

It'd be like some fool going around wearing the PATRIOT master gunner belt buckle without ever having gone to the master gunnery school.

I really fucking hate how self-centred this whole thing is. It's as though their personal hurt feelings are the most important thing about the situation even when they aren't in the group directly affected by thoughtless comment #350.

The only things worse are the argument bingo cards. Some of them are funny, sure, but most of them are such passive-aggressive bullshit, utterly lacking in any sort of constructive commentary or willingness to relate to one's fellow netizens as people rather than users of your feelings-OS.
