Few things.

  • I don't think it's hard to spot that those are names in the original (I don't speak French).
  • It looks more like a demonstration than a war. Or political rally.
  • The English text makes it sound like a political rally.
  • It's still better than no image, and slightly better than the US division one.

29 looks like the Divided States of America or something; it might be better for that, since it's the aftermath of a Civil War and not an actual war.

But as far as the superimposed image goes, could the narrative box be enlarged? I'm not that familiar with Photoshop or whatever program you used. The text in it seems fine as far as I'm concerned.

Problem with the US one is that it's about the American Civil War. This trope is about Civil War in general.

Is everyone okay with replacing the current with 24 as a quality swap/translation?

It's better quality, and not worse for illustrating the trope.

[up][up] I can live with that if nothing else comes up.

If we were to use that French comic, I remember that it's a scene from one of the Asterix books (Asterix and the Goths, to be precise, and according to that recap page, that picture is the start of the "Asterixian Wars" Asterix, Obelix and Getafix cooked up so they can escape without being noticed).

This means that there's an official English version, with the "chiefs" with official "English" names.

The "bad quality" picture is the official translation of it and not the French version (the TV Tropes translated one ISN'T the official translation. tongue), so I'd recommend one to find the English equivalent of that cleaner picture before making the swap.

But I don't get the "official" English translation. "Up with Electric"? What the hell is that supposed to mean?

The clock's up. I've gone ahead and put in 24 as a quality swap and culled the old caption for being rather pointless. If anyone finds a good quality scan of the proper English translation, go ahead and put it in. Locking up.
