But the part we used on the page is the whole of the work except the symbol at the top. Does that count as an excerpt?
Our image policy recently changed. We don't need permission anymore.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.Providing a link to the original artwork and the artist's page when we use someone's work for a page pic helps make it clear that we're not outright stealing their stuff.
Any other thoughts on a caption for this one or the other?
@Willbyr: But removing the artist's watermark violates point number two on that very page.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.That's not a watermark.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan."It was only after being recognised by a child on the train for the umpteenth time that Clark Kent finally realised he might need a secret identity..." ;-)
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DM^^ So? An artist's signature is still a copyright notice. Removing those is not kosher by the DMCA (love it or hate it), among other things.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Fair point...putting up a version that doesn't take that out would probably be better, and my previous point about linking back to it stands regardless.

Uh, ok, fine, but it's not a watermark.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. Not seeing a consensus for a caption. Locking up; I'll upload a version of the pic for Right Under Their Noses that has the artist's mark ASAP.
Don't need it.
