I think Randall Skeffington from Ugly Americans is a good example of this trope. The trope description seems to be more specific than the actual trope, implying that coming back for a single purpose is a requirement. This trope seems to apply to any undead person who retains their personality, (except for vampires).

These all look like Frankensteins to me.

Well, he's clearly undead, but he still acts like a human. That is what these images are showing.

I think we really need a better example than that..

Huh, I'd never heard of this concept before. I suppose it explains where Doom's Revenants came from, albeit they're really not examples.

Those aren't bad, but I do see the potential confusion with the Frankenstein creature. Maybe Dead Girl?

[up] That could work. I prefer it over no image.

We'll need an image for that.

That doesn't look like a zombie to me, revenant or no.

Yeah, R really doesn't work, he's way too preserved...out of context, he looks more like a junkie than a zombie.

What about the undead knight from Guardian Heroes? I would post a link but I am terrible at it.

[up] If you're talking about the guy on the right, I don't think he works...way too skeletal.

[down] Bingo.

I think 6 is best. She looks undead, yet lively.

The problem I see with 6 is that she honestly doesn't show any signs of sapience.

My favorite so far is the one with the zombie at the bar, since at least he clearly is still acting human (Drinking beer with his buddy).

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.

Yeah. Dead Girl is the best so far, not ideal, but the best of these.

" They are driven by a single burning purpose, most often vengeance or true love, driven by a desire so strong it can overcome even death. " from the description page.

The pics in post 1 contradict that.

Six works well

The others look like they're still alive.
