Everybody seems to be using the default assault rifle and grenade launcher because those are simple and work.

That's one hell of an interest killer. You'd think people would get more creative in a game like this.

Ten bucks says it takes a month for someone to design a gun that maximizes killscores and for everyone to use it exclusively.

I've noticed that Beam weapons tend to be really useful. They have zero spread, they're hitscan, and they don't require reloading. Also, rockets are generally quite powerful.

Out of all elements. Tesla is most common with the buff one being the most rare. Hpwever, healing rockets are very fun because you can use them on yourslelf and other people, to have regen pretty much.

I believed that Pyro was the most common. It's certainly the one that kills me the most. That idea of healing rockets, though, I ought to try that for myself.

I have to use bounce, but it still works very well, only because you can spread the affect far. I often use it in tight spaces to heal myself.

...So, anybody still play this game? I'm interested in getting it, but I don't know how much of a playerbase it has?

The game had an ENORMOUS jump in players when it hit Steam, to the point of the servers exploding for a few days until the devs got things sorted. Now that they're working, I've never had to wait longer than a few seconds to find a match. The tricky part is just getting all the derps to ready up once they're matched.

Lasers (especially tesla) and standard rockets are due for nerfs, if I had to guess. Along with shields. Pulse, meanwhile, needs some serious buffing. I'm a little worried that the developers won't be able to balance out the parts sufficiently to provide serious variety, and a game with a million parts with everyone just using the same dozen wouldn't be very enjoyable. It's not like you can switch classes - your weapon IS your playstyle here. But the game is still young, we'll just have to wait and see.

Btw, if you're having trouble against pyro, try a shield (pyro sucks against them) and remember to roll to cut the fire damage. It's kind of risky to roll in the middle of the fight if you're using stream weapons, but it'll save your life once the fight is over.

Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.

Has the game gotten any better?

In terms of making the 'wacky' weapon options more viable? I don't think so, but then, I wasn't playing as far back as you, either, so I don't have the same basis for comparison. It's possible that they've made massive improvements since then that I just don't see because other weapons are overshadowing them atm.

I'm actually introduced to this game not by weapon designing stuffs but from its sheer...Crudeness from a video. Still contemplating whether to get this or not (how big is the file by the way?)

Wait...What?

Two gigs. Yeah, the style is kinda like Team Fortress 2 meets Borderlands meets way crude humor.

Anyway. Been playing it, it's fun enough. But (being from Latin America) I've been having a lot of trouble connecting to servers in order to edit and make weapons. What a cumbersome system.

[up][up]Around 2 GB.

[up]How much ping do you have when conected to the server? Because I have around 125 most of the time and the most it took me conecting to the servers was around 5 seconds.

Messing around with the game a bit. It has a ton of crude character. I do hate the new micro-transaction model of gaming. I appreciate a free game but must every way to customize a character be cash only?

The tech tree is a thing. I have no problems with a progression model, I'm just hoping there's fun designs to work for rather then just building a shotgun,a sniper rifle, and a rocket launcher.

[up]Apparently, after your first match of every day you have a chance of randomly getting a Cosmetic Item.

Personally, I like it. Fun, and frantic, and my Signature gun is slowly coming together.

Plus, for some reason repeatedly dying doesn't frustrate me as much here as it does in TF 2 and Halo.

I played it a little bit when it came out and then forgot about it. Now that I have more time for it I have been enjoying it. The weapon customization is pretty fun and the promise of a campaign mode seemingly inspired by the TF2 Machine Invasion one looks promising. It is easy to get into.

[up][up][up] Well, it seems that you can no longer get cosmetic items on the first win of the day and you get blutes instead. Which, coupled with the fact that you need to spend $15 to $20 on one outfit, is taking the piss.

Also, I still haven't noticed any One Guns (to rule them all) - I got killed with pretty much everything from slug throwers to launchers, but the moment where I managed to kill a guy by blind-firing my ricocheting fireball gun at the cramped space where he was hiding was hilarious.
