I kind of have a suggestion, actually... Maybe flip the lions to face their kingdom (so it's as if they're actively watching over it), and add sort of a fade between the panels featuring them and the panels featuring their land. I might give that a go, at least before we go ahead and put this up.
The image concept is sound, though.
EDIT: Blah, this'd have to wait until I got home; Paint.net doesn't support layer masks, and I don't have Photoshop on here.
The divider's a bit large, btw; I'd probably shrink it to 5 pixels, max.

Moon◊Ooh, I got to say — so pretty! I just skimmed through the discussion and I'm now in a hurry, so I'm not perfectly clear on the issue why there are so man versions. My favourite was the one with the skeleton. And I sure did like the caption and joke about Scar not being pro-green, especially when his image has the healthy green glow. But nevermind. But I love these images for this trope.
That's fantastic...I love how Mufasa appears to be giving Scar a WTF look.
That is gorgeous! (What thing was it you used for it? I'd like to learn that one day.)
That is so great with Scar looking happy at what he's done.
I like "See that shadowy place? That's Pride Rock after Scar took over." I wouldn't mind "As within, so without. Light begets plenty, darkness begets famine." I think either is better then "Scar lacks a strong pro-green policy," especially because it has become confusing with the green behind him.
Mad props, that's amazing!

Alright, I think we've found our pic. It's up, potholed, and tagged. Now we just need to decide on a caption.
Wow, that is awesome. This image went through a lot of iterations to get to where it's at. I was thinking of moving the lions to the right to look at their kingdom, but having them on the left creates balance with Pride Rock. I love how the transparency makes Mufasa look like a ghost. "Remember..."

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed."Scar might like green, but he never had a green thumb.note "
Moon◊That's just begging for a pothole to I Would Say If I Could Say.
So far, we've got that, "See that shadowy place? That's Pride Rock after Scar took over.", "As within, so without. Light begets plenty, darkness begets famine.", and "Scar lacks a strong pro-green policy." I obviously favor mine, then , and the other two are in their dust.

Yeah, yours is pretty good too.
Moon◊I'm undecided. First of all, the image is so awesome that it works without any caption.
Willbyr's "As within, so without. Light begets plenty, darkness begets famine." is very poetic, and it sounds like a quote from some classic literature, really. I'd like that.
And I wouldn't mind something funny, e.g: "Despite having a green healthy glow, Scar lacks strong pro-green policy." With a pothole to a trope about protecting environment, if we have one.
Sorry, not that helpful post, but I'm a very indecisive person.

Maybe this is just me and obviously a lot of work went into this, but isn't the image ruined by Scar having a green background? I know green is also associated with sickness and stuff but, well, the barren land isn't green. It just looks weird to me.
I know this probably won't matter, but I have to vote this down. Nothing wrong with the concept though.

It's that glowy, evil green, not the lush, verdant green of forests and foilage.
Check out my fanfiction! But the image is already approved because the consensus was so overwhelming. Now we just need to agree what to do with a caption.
IMO, nothing in the image indicates lush and green land.
That's why I said it didn't matter, yes?
That seems...inordinately picky. It's clearly Sickly Green Glow. I mean, Scar looks evil, his land looks wasted, Mufasa has heroic golden and red colors, and his land is verdant (plus he has a blue sky). Anyway, I'm cool with any caption at this point.

Basically, .
I like Willbyr's caption. It generalises to the trope as used as a whole, not just the example depicted in the image.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableWe are going to need to have a crowner to decide on a caption aren't we?
Hm, perhaps, but I see lots of support for Willbyr's caption. I think we might go with that one already.
