Ratchet & Clank film announced

Well, I'm excited. I wonder what it's about.

As my girlfriend and most of the Tropers in the League of Legends chatroom are well aware of by this point, I'm rather excited for this. And by rather excited I mean OHMYGODYESIWANTITNOW!

Im hyped already. Im curious as to how the story will translate, as well as what story they'll tell.

I'm actually kind of hoping they come up with a brand new design, so we can play with it in the inevitable movie tie-in video game.

I've long thought that animation was the way to make video game movies good. Surely, they can't mess this up, can they?

That'd be really hard to do considering Insomniac is working with them, and the guy who wrote most of the series is writing the movie.

This is going to be freaking awesome.

Finally the guy from the New York Times so got to say "feels like playing a Pixar movie" on the back of Tools of Destruction will be vindicated.

on one hand, video game movies never work out.

on the other hand, I really freaking want this to work out

The writer for this movie is gonna have to be REALLY good. Because most of the games and their plots strongly resemble the stuff you'd see from Disney or Pixar, only slightly less creative and original. Furthermore, most of the universe for Ratchet and Clank revolves strongly around tropes related to videogames, such as the crazy guns, the designs of the worlds, the enemies, etc.

Actually, the writer for the Ratchet and Clank movie will be the same writer who did most of the Ratchet and Clank games, so I'm pretty sure that will work out.

I just hope they don't go and cast celebrities to voice them,that would piss me off...

They already said that James Arnold Taylor, David Kaye, and Jim Ward are coming back to voice their respective chracters in the movie. Celebrity voices are being considered though, most likley to voice minor characters.

...Do the games usually fourth wall this much? First movie trailer i've seen actively have the animators screw with characters, though Qwark kinda had it coming.

Anywhoo, this might finally get me to try the games.

Not that often to my recollection. There is a "Didn't recognize you guys in HD!" Joke in To D tho.

The Plumber treats the fourth-wall more as a window than anything, but yeah, there isn't too much of that. The odd aside glance every here and there, but mostly they keep the jokes in-universe, as it were. This is just the trailer guys having fun.

Ooh, lookin' forward to it! :D

I don't even particularly care about the franchise and I am excited for this game.

Plus, that trailer alone looks soooooooo gorgeous.
