For some reason, the image on Video Game Flight is a picture of Mario lying flat on the ground. Yeah, I don't get it either. But it's easy enough to find an actual example, such as Mario with a cape or this dude with a jetpack or of course Tails Prower.

It's a perspective thing. He's actually flying over the castle, his arms spread in flight.

I think.

He's clearly divebombing towards the castle. Keep Until Better Image Suggested

Not liking your suggestions suck. Tails looks to be supported by a pillar, dude with jetpack looks like he's jumping (Jetpack's barely visible).

No need to be rude about it.

Mario is not "clearly" anything in that shot. To me he seems to be lying spreadeagled on the floor, and the second poster here doesn't seem to be so sure either.

Yeah, he's supposed to be in midair, but it's not really clear if you're not familiar with the game.

Also, Cobra, that's not helpful at all.

It's clearly him flying only because I'm familiar with the stage in question and know the size of Mario relative to the platform he's flying down toward. If I weren't, the "lying down on a small platform" interpretation would actually be pretty apt.

I'm trying to see if there are any good images of NiGHTS into Dreams…... Thing is, the character doesn't really have wings, so it might be kinda vague that it's flying (yes, it; it doesn't have a gender, which makes using pronouns really confusing). It does leave a trail behind it (as part of the paralooping game mechanics), which might help sell what direction it's been traveling in; just need to find a good image...

I can totally tell he's flying. But if it's bad, why not a different Mario.

Geometrically speaking, I have no idea that Mario is flying there. That said, the OP's suggestion sadly aren't an improvement either.

@7 is comparatively better than the current image.

[up][up]Considering it's a poster image and not an in-game image, I think it's weaker.

The current has a much too awkward angle for me to see it as lying on the platform.

The first suggestion is good, though, with cape-Mario flying amongst coins.

10.2 is the best. The two others have a problem with perspective.

They both work for me. Slightly prefer the second, again due to perspective.

I prefer 10.2 or 12.1. I prefer the latter because it actually shows the ground in comparison.

I'd even go for a split of both.

I really like 12.1. It just looks nice to look at. Little clutter, clearly a video game, gets the point across.

Here's 12.1 at wiki size...works fine for me.

Hmm. Y'know, I wouldn't mind a shot of Flying Squirrel Mario in NSBU, because it has subtle jet-trail to show the direction he's gliding (and everyone knows flying squirrels only glide, not fly).

[up] Not an example. You said it yourself that flying squirrels glide, which technically isn't flying. tongue
