As far as I know, Murderous Thighs was a combat trope.

However, I noticed that for some reason most of the description was focused on its sexual aspect. I found it unnecessary and trimmed it so it would only focus on the combat aspect.

Then a troper named McJeff came along and reverted the old description, saying:

alright, so - there is nothing on the forums or article talk page discussing redefining the trope as a non-fanservice trope. Therefore, I have reverted back to the old description, and added it to the Fanservice index for good measure.

Since when was this a fanservice trope, not a combat trope, I would like to know.

This is certainly a combat trope. It -can- be fanservice but that is a case of Tropes Are Flexible. My vote goes to changing it to downplay or, more preferably, remove the emphasis on fanservice. Let us wait for this other editor to have his say first, though.

I am not seeing why this needs an emphasis on fanservice - even Bound and Gagged exists in a non-fanservice form in many children's books.

Or, what EPM said.

In the meantime, can we at least remove this trope from the Fanservice index? I am 100% sure it wasn't there before.

Yeah, this is not fanservice. I'm sure it can be Fetish Fuel to some, but we got rid of that particular gimmick last year.

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!

The year before last year, to be exact. Early 2011.

I don't think I've ever seen Mc Jeff post on the forums. He's a heavy contributor to the Ever Quest and Ever Quest II trope pages, but that's about it for me. Lets downplay the fanservice angle on the trope with moderator confirmation.

Well, either PM him and poke him in this direction, or stop gossipping about him.

Well I still say just make the change with an official moderator's notice. That'll curb the issue.

I deemed that his opinion is not necessarily required. We just need an approval from a moderator.

I don't understand. Why does this need a moderator? Why does this need a TRS thread? Why not just remove the fanservice bits and comment in a warning not to replace them?

I believe only the moderators or the curators have the authority to post those kinds of warning, although I might very well be mistaken.

As for the reason I why I started this TRS, I just wanted to prevent a potential Edit War.

In that case, remove the fanservice gushing and place a warning about shoving it back in. It's not needed and it comes off as creepy. Just don't make the description as incredibly dull as it came off after the last cut.

Generally, the thing to do if you're not sure about it is to talk with him in a PM and/or the discussion page, and if he persists, to take it to Ask The Tropers. This approach just hogs a TRS spot.

Thread resolved?
