It's Ro-Man of Robot Monster. He's supposed to be the film's terrifying alien monster, but looks indeed just like a gorilla with a diving helmet.

It's supposed to be a form of monster. It looks comically misshaped - hence, it's Retardant.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThanks for explaining that, but the image is really too small and grainy for me to make out that this represents some film's monster that is supposed to be scary.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Much better. Maybe the caption should be something like "ooooh so scary" linking to Sarcasm Mode?
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Original caption works better.
Hell, it works better with the new image than the old one.
Moon◊Yeah, #5 is better.
Check out my fanfiction!5 > current...keep the current caption.
I agree with Willbyr. Use number five, but with the old caption. That is, unless someone can think of a better one.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.I approve of this change.
Keep it breezy! That's good enough. The new pic's swapped in and the tag's adjusted. Locking up.
On the page of Nightmare Retardant, I really have no idea what that picture is supposed to be. The caption indicates something about gorilla divers, but that doesn't help much (then again, captions are often nonsense or lame puns anyway). Even if this image is a good example (which I doubt), surely we can find a bigger and clearer version?
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!
