I'm expecting present Fitz to die so future Fitz lives if they go that route.
Oh god just like the Celestial Madonna Saga
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe what?
Avengers storyline in the comics
Immortus shows up with a box before a wedding, refusing to tell anyone what's inside
When the bride gets kidnapped he opens up the mystery box and there she is, the wedding is back on
Quality of a storyline that involves a woman marrying a tree aside, Immortus bringing a box of Mantis as his gift to her wedding is hilarious
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI think the "Fitz dies but the time clone lives" is probably what'll happen.
I mean, that's how they resolved Max's death in Sam and Max: The City that Dares Not Sleep basically, so it's a pretty common trope in timetravel stories
I missed that episode. What's this about a time clone?
The way Fitz got to the future was "the long way." So Fitz' body should be in cryosleep right now.
And if they break the time loop that means the present Fitz has no reason to stay in cryo sleep.
Thinking about it this is probably going to wind up being something they actually try. If Fitz wakes up early it prevents the future we've seen from happening; at least in the same way. That means things have to be different this time although it doesn't guarantee success.
So, we begin the episode with Strucker Jr coming back and good golly that guy's gotten crazier since we last saw him. Then we mention Ian Quinn again and I'm fairly certain a good deal of the fandom just collectively said "FINALLY THEY ACKNOWLEDGE HIM". The continuity lately is definitely giving a "Yeah this is the last season, guys" vibe. They're gathering so much from the past and tying it all together...Veejay Nadir right now but still waiting out for that.
So we have Mac's old friend from SHIELD academy who has a stupid excuse of a catchphrase (if that's what you'd call whatever he said that Mack was able to recognize him with) but damn if it isn't funny to see this guy suddenly get all chummy once Mack recognizes him. Also kind of a showcase for how far Mack has come since he started on the show. And holy shit, flying boat in the sky with Gravitonium and shit, that's fun. Meanwhile Deke is showing more and more of his similarities to Fitz and Simmons and he's now realizing his origins. Can't wait for the inevitable "Hey guys uh I'm your descendant and y'all are gonna have a baby and be a family and shit".
So Strucker Jr is pals with the blonde arm slicer who we shall now call Ruby. Scenes with them were creepy as hell and seriously, Strucker Jr is fucking creepy as shit right now. So like...he remembers a whole bunch of shit, right? How'd he learn to do that? Cuz I generally like Awesome by Analysis characters but I feel like I'm missing something. Though I'm still confused what the bad guys are doing. Is this like a new Hydra or something? I might be missing something. I do notice they're definitely bringing a team together though. Getting kind of interested where this goes. Ruby and her handler (forget her name) seem fairly interesting right now. More interesting that Kassius, like blech. Still hoping it pans out better than Cal's team from that one episode, that was a lame team.
I still have a criticism though and it's one that I've brought up about last week's episode, and it's that Yo-Yo is seriously getting shafted here. The one Latina woman on the cast and she's currently out of commission while dealing with problems pertaining to her and Mack's relationship. It's just...ugh...like yeah, I get it, she lost her arms, but god damn it I'm pissed that she's not able to do anything right now. At least she's getting arms now, though...
So next week, they finally remembered Russian MODOK, thank you Jesus. And Evil Fitz comes back for a brief moment, I'm stoked!
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Honestly, I enjoyed this episode from start to finish, mostly because I had no idea whatsoever in which direction they would go with it. And they had some surprises in store. The idea with the ship was hilarious.
The only predictable thing about it was that I just knew that the step by step line would come up again.
Show of hands, who caught the Buffy reference?

You lost!Best moment of the episode.
"What do you think about dating a woman with no arms?"
"Those aren't the parts that matter."
"Mack!"
"That's not what I meant..."
I was reading the recap, and apparently the reason they're not bringing back Ian Quinn is because his actor retired.
Hmm.... I think they could have pulled a The Other Darrin trope and tried to get John Stamos to play him. They look similar. :P

With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationIf he doesn't turn up I will just assume that he was on this ship...that would be an ending fitting for him.
So I guess it's Legion of Doom next episode?

I am just realized something...I won't be able to watch the next two episodes immediately. This will be torture!
So I'm assuming the random astronaut encounter in the opening was the astronaut guy from Season 3? Seeing Fitz as the Doctor again was pretty fun, and kind of felt like an actual challenge for him in contrast to how nobody seemed to even have a personal challenge in the early parts of Season 5. Seriously, the actor is really fucking good, he's able to play both roles wonderfully. Him removing the chip from Daisy though is just...oof, that was creepy. Gruesome.
And the twist...oh my god. Fucking hell. Fitz, my guy, you really need help. Simmons, honey, I love you but you really need to give Fitz some time to get himself all worked out. And two episodes after their wedding too, like come the fuck on. I get why he did it but this is the outright most morally ambiguous thing he's done. Him and Daisy are gonna be really tense after this, and even though the end had Deke reassuring Simmons and stuff, it just makes me feel uncomfortable.
Hale got captured pretty easily but it was pretty damn cool how they caught her. So far she's been a lot better and more interesting than Kassius was. She managed to actually kinda outwit Coulson temporarily, like damn. This is what the first pod of the season was missing, an actual challenge for them. And now Russian MODOK is back but he's downgraded to being the Dragon to Hale. I'm kind of confused about the timeline between the end of Season 4 and Coulson and the rest of them coming back though. So did Hale get the guy's brain and get him to make more robots in the span of a few months or something? Honestly that stuff was kind of the B-plot of the episode but it was still pretty good. Just god damn that A-plot was fucking tense.
And so...Hydra is back. Again. I swear to goddamn hell, seriously? I'll wait and see how they do it but come on, not again. I'm mixed on this. Could be interesting but overkill too.
Anyways, got the titles and descriptions for a couple upcoming episodes:
Episode 15: Rise and Shine: Coulson uncovers General Hale's true agenda; it could be the end of the world if S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn't help her.
Episode 16: Inside Voices: Coulson is forced to team up with surprising allies to save the world, while the S.H.I.E.L.D. team attempts to track down and rescue him.
And Episode 17 has a title but no description yet: The Honeymoon. Seems like Coulson is gonna be removed from the rest of the team for a couple of episodes.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? This show continuously enjoys drilling the phrase "assume nothing" into my mind. I read spoilers that Fitz was going to have another mental breakdown but I legit thought Leopold somehow escaped the framework was actually real. And now Simmons knows Deke is her grandson, wonder how Fitz will react to that. I'm actually glad Coulson is away from the team for a few episodes, they could use some time apart. Also I'm in favor of throwing Piper out the airlock.
Tis the great art of life to manage well The restless mindI liked the acting we got from Fitz this episode. It was great. I just feel like the path we took to get there didn't make much sense. Deke didn't really interupt him or anything so knocking him out seemed... like a pointless red herring. And he got dragged into the climax by the robot but he didn't serve the scene in any way. I don't even know quite why Fitz needed to make up these distractions to do what he needed to. Even then, I'm confused how the whole confrontation scene is possible if its not a fear projection and just Fitz in his head. If he's doing a bunch of stuff without realizing because his mind is compartmentalizing everything, why would such a confrontation be allowed? Its EASILY the best scene in the episode, but I'm confused.
I also thought the 'That's not how you respect a Hydra Superior' might have been a bit far. I get Fitz being traumatized by the Framework enough to be a bit more of an Amoral Doctor, but maybe saying he's Hydra to Daisy is a bit far?
I can't tell how I feel. I don't know if this is a Moral Event Horizon, but it feels like the show isn't taking that stance.
Well, saying "Fitz did nothing wrong" is a bit of a stretch, but if it weren't for Mack getting shot, I'd say he was doing the right thing overall.
He could have asked though. I'm sure if he explained it to Daisy—how desperate the situation was, and that there really were no other options—that he could have made her realize they needed her powers.
True, she was scared of breaking the world, but I surprised he jumped to what he did like that.
One Strip! One Strip!Probably a lack of sleep combined with mental stress over solving the Gravitonium problem led to him acting like this.
This is officially my new favorite episode. Brilliant character study!
