It reminds me of some trouble I've had at my own college commitee, it's the most depressing thing ever.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Episode 10: Watched it, went to this thread to post a wall of text, and discovered that several other people have already done so. Awesome.

Anyway, Hachiman was great again this week. I'm so glad he pointed out that the aesop "you have to rely on others" did not apply to their situation.

Haruno's antagonizing Yuki so much that it's all the more likely that she's helping her out in her own, twisted way.

The SC prez keeps stepping on Yuki's landmines. Way to be dense. At least she knows she should have stopped Sugami. Speaking of Sugami, that girl should... should just... epic fail. (I am suddenly reminded of Ai-chan)

(I also read some vague LN spoilers by accident, I'm kinda miffed)

I loved how Haruno and Yukino had the same reaction to Hachiman's explanation of the "Person" character and using it as a theme for the festival — but Haruno had that reaction first, before he even explained it. That plays very nicely into the whole "Yukino is always just chasing after Haruno" theme that Haruno brought up at the festival.

I like how, despite her customary verbal abuse, Yukino also acknowledged his views after that. And waving goodbye and saying "see you tomorrow" instead of just walking away was a cute little moment, especially since she made Hachihman actually smile there. She looked so awkward! It was adorable. So was her apparently getting jealous about Haruno messing with him. And the other member of the committee cutting in to their banter to say, "hey, the rest of us can hear you" during the stage scene. (A Yui scene at the end, too... In retrospect, there was a lot of Ship Tease in this episode, wasn't there?) Yukino's gotten progressively more likeable since the end of episode 5, and it's been nice to watch.

The next episode should be a fun one. I'm a little disappointed we didn't get a "real" preview, though.

You said everything that needed to be say, so only thing that can added by me is:

It suck to be Hachiman x Saika shiper. All hope is lost.

Episode 11. In which Yuki is cute with messy hair.

I love the way she said "rejected". After giggling. I wonder if she's like me, though. Getting a joke quite early, but laughing later.

But yes, the banter between the two cold ones is getting warmer. Less insulting to push away and more insulting to draw in.

Preview? What preview? tongue

[up][up][up] There was quite a lot of shipping tease. Not only for the main girls, they even managed to squeeze in Haruno. That, or the shipping goggles are on too tight.[lol]

On a semi-related note. BITCH GOT TOLD! Man, everything in this episode was cathartic. Quite the contrast to the gloom of episode 10.

Though, I'm afraid episode 12 might be a lot less happy. :l

Oh, right, 13 eps. Second to last is the gloomiest in about 80% of all series that have gloominess in them.

Nooooooooooooooooooooo!

The Little Prince reimagined as slash! Do not want 😞

I'm pretty sure FFF messed up and the Rose (Prince Saika's first love) was actually gender neutrally referred to and should probably still be female. Hopefully.

Anyway.

This is like the most humiliation I've ever seen put on a character in a anime. They're positively driving the committee chair insane. Though I do have a suspicion they're going to avert this spiral.

The best part is no-one suspects 8man due to his established reputation (because that was not a subtle verbal jab). Well... No one who doesn't know him anyway.

Episode 11:

  • I... I want more of Yukinon in home clothes. She was positively gorgeous. Heck, she was generally cute throughout the episode, with the laughter, the awkward hand-waving and her shiptastic banter with Hikki.
  • Second time I've seen that interpretation of the "human" character (the first was in Space Brothers).
  • I'm sorry for the chairman, but she really had it coming.
  • Speaking of shiptastic, there's even some fuel for Yui and Haruno's.
    • Hikki is trying very hard not to get romantic ideas about Yui. But he's blushing! If only a little.
    • Semi-confirmation that Haruno really is just helping out Yuki.

Yeah I was almost disappointed with how it seemed like everything had been kind of pointless. Though ultimately it was kind of petty. But I did like how Hachiman's friends acknowledged him when everyone else only saw the shallowest interpretation of events.

I regret watching commie for this episode. Only two or three memes, but still pretty jarring.

I think it felt mostly pointless. Kind of reminded me of Haruhi Suzumiya, and one or two other series.

I thought the ending would be more powerful considering I read some of the LN's spiilers. :l

Their budget conked out so much this episode. They should've made the ostracization more intense. >_>

Hey guys, just got caught up in the anime, and here are my thoughts;

Hachiman's definitely an entertaining protagonist for me, which feels strange because the first character I think of in comparison is Kumagawa from Medaka Box, who I actually did not really enjoy.

Overall, none of the cast is really a complete asshole, and they're not really straight up antagonists either. But I don't really know what makes people fixtated on Hayama's niceness. Isn't the whole point that he's capable of being conciliatory but often times he's just putting up a tentative peace. He's a good foil to Hachiman, and I like how it's not an antagonistic dynamic, but it's certainly not just niceness.

It's the fact that he's too nice that he can't do anything. If a problem comes up, he'll most likely leave it be, so as not to shatter anyone's image of him if he starts taking sides.

He has genuinely good intentions, he just wants to please everyone. Not really selfish. He wants to be everyone's friend, but that's where the problem lies. The most he can do is encourage people, which wasn't really working if you look at the last episode.

Yes, I was saying I didn't find your description to be accurate. I'd rather say he's too nice to criticise someone, not because he doesn't want that person's image of him to get ruined, but because he doesn't want to hurt the person.

To be fair, Hachiman isn't exactly selfless either. (I actually think they have a really nice dynamic going on, and both are to some degree capable of seeing through the others bullshit)

@Jigaboo Yeah I agree. I was just a bit concerned how some of the comments were basically "Hayato's really nice!" or "Yumiko's clique isn't that bad". Which is true, but certainly not a surprising or meaningful observation. It's like in Daria; tempting to dislike the popular characters but in the end they're just superficial but not really bad people(with useful advice).

Hayato's niceness has a narrative purpose which I appreciate; he's too nice that he just maintains the status quo, but not someone who you root for, just like how Hachiman may achieve results but you know his methods are..unorthodox.

Personally, I'm glad Shizuka pointed out that always going for the Pyrrhic Victory is only causing pain not only for Hachiman himself, but those around him.

[up] I really liked that too. It's admirable that he's staying true to himself, but being too inflexible will break him.( I still am kinda glad they went and broke down Sagami further. And that Hikki's friends acknowledged what Hikki did.)

I hope at some point Hikki uses his social know-how like how Naedoko uses hers.

I rather liked Hayato this episode. When he pushed Hikki against the wall, I knew that he was angry at Hikki not for insulting Sagami, but for turning himself into the bad guy again. Really kind guy. This also gives us a glimpse of his past with Yuki.

The low budget was obvious. Made the band performance scene quite a bit less fun than it should have been. Still, Yukinon singing~

The "I can't be friends with you" line from Yukinon is quite possibly her most shiptastic line yet. Though the entire conversation was great, delightfully different from when Hikki and Yuki first talked in that room.

Unfortunately, episode 13 seems to be an extra episode. It'll be nice to see the cast just hanging out or something, but it's not really the appeal of this show. Then again, who knows what's in store for next week? And possibly next year? </futile hope for more>
