Agreed. Motion to pull it.
in the mean time, I was looking through the examples, and the Angry Video Game Nerd spoofs the concept when the boss life bar from Super Star Wars extends out of his TV and off the screen, much to his horror.

I don't think it's possible to see what that line is without knowing it.
Check out my fanfiction!Well I could get the screen itself that says "BOSS" followed by the dots and make it a two-parter.
That could work.
Ok, Take 2: It's the same shot, but showing the boss life bar entirely enclosed in the screen, followed by it extending outward beyond the TV.
Take 3: An actual boss fight screenshot from the episode, followed by the joke afterward. Unfortunately, there wasn't a screenshot of the boss fight he's doing specifically in that shot.
(BTW, Willbyr, not used to the Agent Smith avatar. )

I like the second one.
Possible to do a combo with the same boss? Or at least one where the health bar is at the same location?
Check out my fanfiction! The current image is horrible, especially the low quality: Pull it.
No opinion on either suggestion.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI like the first suggestion. That's a very good way of showing the trope visually.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!well, as I said, there wasn't any direct game footage of the hoth monster boss fight that is shown in the reaction scene. I suppose I could load up an emulator and try to get a screenshot of it that way, but I have no time to do that now.
Suggestion: instead of dropping current entirely, move it to CaptainObvious.Video Games, which has no image of its own, and would probably work better with the current image than Damage-Sponge Boss would.
Moon◊Check out my fanfiction!
Do we really need a combo image?
I like that suggestion. Could we possibly get a cleaner version of the pic, though?

Not unless somebody has a copy of the relevant GamePro magazine in order to do a rescan; pretty much all of the results on GIS are similarly blurry, off-center and oddly-rotated.
Moon◊Hmmmmm...I may still have one of my old DOOM manuals floating around, if I do I'll see if it says the same thing for a scan.
Nuts...you're right, I'd forgotten about that.

It won't be in the manual. He's omitted entirely from the manual for the first game (to maximize the surprise of facing him down), and the Doom 2 description would be
It's a scan from an issue of now-defunct video game magazine GamePro. If I knew what issue it was, I'd offer that detail, but I'm afraid I don't.
EDIT: I asked around at Doomworld. Apparently it's a hoax created by one of their members that a lot of people (myself included) mistook for an actual protip from the magazine. Hence, there isn't a better quality version of the image available.

Moon◊Clock is set.
Okay, I'm still in favor of this image,
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!
It works better than the current, so .
, and I guess we're still on to move the Doom hoax to CaptainObvious.Video Games?
Moon◊"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."
If and only if the caption points out what that line is.
Check out my fanfiction!
Although the caption may be nice as a page quote, I fail to see how this blurry screenshot of the Cyberdemon from Doom is of any help in understanding this trope. There's nothing in the image that indicates anything about damage-sponginess.
