Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules (in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

Oh yeah, I still remember when I used to be a regular (before all the good games died) and I got a taste of just why the Homestuck fanbase was so disliked in the "your avatar vs. the above avatar" thread.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Despite the early days of change and turmoil the site appears to have become rather stable. Rules and procedures are in place, there are plans being actively worked on for the future. Sure there will be future problems and other issues down the line but in general the site has largely stabilized.
Who watches the watchmen? This site isn't secure. I hope something can be done about it.
Hey."Secure" in which way?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanA bit late, but probably the fact that we're on a regular HTTP connection and it can't be turned into a secure HTTPS connection even though the site has an SSL certificate.
"Did you expect somebody else?"Am I the only one that feels that some people here tend to let their political views influence how they see a work? I try to to see a workfor what it is but some people here pretty much criticize a work if it isn't progressive or slightly left-leaning. Just my opinion.

It's more or less impossible for someone not to let their political views influence their opinion of anything, especially art. That really just doesn't apply to left-leaning people.
I know people let their political views influence how they see a work, left or right. I was just pointing out how noticeable it is on this website.
It's noticeable everywhere really,we're not that different from everybody else

New theme music also a boxIt's also worth noting that stuff like this is bound to be more noticeable on a website dedicated to analyzing media.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Bump.
So, is it me or do newer threads get ignored quite a lot? Whenever someone creates a new thread, some people will comment and then nothing happens weeks, months or even years.
Its just you. Like any forum it really depends not only what sub-forum you are in but what content is in said thread. If it doesn't attract sufficient attention it will fall down the history list. All of the long running threads were new threads at one point.

Who watches the watchmen? There are a distinct lack of bands I listen to on this site (Pyramaze, Orden Ogan (there is currently a page for Orden Ogan, but only because I made it), The Vision Bleak, Elvenking, Mystic Prophecy, etc.,) despite the fact that some tropes have them as examples.
I have helped correct the problem a bit, but there is a lot more than I have time to do.

Umm... so, I was here, I guess. If I wasn't, someone hacked my account. So, yeah.I don't know. I don't think it's just me.
This is a situation not unique to any forum. Just because a thread is new doesn't mean it will get posts or even maintain interest long enough to be kept on the more active page. If the user base is not interested in the thread it will drift to the bottom and ultimately be ignored. Even with up or down voting same thing. If the user base doesn't like the thread enough it languishes and falls off the first page. I hate to say you haven't noticed anything unique to this site or any other that has a forum or is a forum.
Who watches the watchmen?I'm afraid I have to disagree with you.

I still don't quite know if it's just me or if it's an actual thing, but it feels like most people back in the earlier days of the forums(2013 and earlier) were pretty much jerks. Someone got flamed just for making a thread about how they're concerned they might have schizophrenia, the attacker berating them for "insulting trained psychologists everywhere with their self-diagnosing" even though the original poster never really outright self-diagnosed.
Were that to happen now, the flamer would've gotten swiftly banned, or at least everyone would call them out for being a jerk.
Sick of everything.I seem to be the only person on this whole site that knows that the words "its" and "led" exist.
I know they exist as well. I just don't post here or make page edits often.
Sick of everything.Sometimes someone's avatar tells you all you need to know about them.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Really? So, what does my avatar say about me?

You value individuality I guess?
If this is some passive-aggressive challenge of my post, it's sorely misdirected. You'll know who I'm talking about when you see them, and it's not you.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."I wasn't trying to be Passive Aggressive. I was genuinely asking what you think.
Things get pretty political a lot in the New Media subforum. It's probably the same with some other media subforums, but I've noticed it with New Media especially.
Meh, never saw the appeal
