I'd say Duke Nukem Forever, and the game right before it in the series with dates would be a good one.
Splatter-house could work too, I think series had a even longer gap.
Hmmm...is it possible to downsize the image to make it fit better?

The Splatterhouse one is alright, but it could be a little smaller and possibly have the dates.
Although, it could still work without the dates - the systems for each game would clue the reader in on how long the gap is. I still think it would be best made tinier, though.
Pinball cleanup threadHow does Splatterhouse illustrate the trope?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe issue I have is, since the 360 SH is technically a remake of the original, it shouldn't count per the trope definition.

How about Duke Nukem Forever then? I think the last one before it was Manhattan Project over 10 years ago.
That seems like a good avenue.
We could just abridge the current picture. Usually there is something like a scrunched up line to close the gap.

Anyone wanna mock up a idea for a Duke Nukem Forever page pic?
I can live with that.
I'm in favor of the Kid Icarus one myself.
@13 for the win.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIs there any reason the box arts need to be so big in general? You could probably do the whole timeline if you shrank the boxart considerably.
Moon◊Looks good, as long as were sure there's no games between them.
The cropped version's just fine.
Pinball cleanup threadJust for comparison's sake, here's all three games.
Yeah, the first one doesn't need to be there, I wouldn't call under two years that great a gap. It's the later two entries that fit.
I think it lends context, actually. "Here, the first two games were fairly close to each other. And then there's this outlier..."
Moon◊We really don't need the context, the trope is just about the gap itself.
Anyway, 20 is my preferred version - although the years are kinda small.
Moon◊My vote is for 13.
The image for Sequel Gap illustrates the trope just fine, but it's far too long for convenience. We changed the image for Evolving Credits for similar reasons. Maybe we could shrink it or cut off the first part to just show Of Myths and Monsters and Uprising?
I'm also not a fan of the caption, but that's neither here nor there.
