[up]The short explanation is "when a person's worldview doesn't match the data they're getting". It actually can have survival value: battlefield psychosis can save your life in combat. But, will screw you over outside it.

As crazy as some of them appear to be, few of them seem to see people who arent in the room.

The short explanation is "when a person's worldview doesn't match the data they're getting". It actually can have survival value: battlefield psychosis can save your life in combat. But, will screw you over outside it.
... That seems self-contradictory, unless you're saying that battlefield psychosis is what basically the mind having become so paranoid due to overexposure to life-threatening situations during war that, when brought back to peaceful civilian life, they keep seeing "threats" where they do not exist due to constantly interpreting certain sensory stimuli as false positives.

When someones perceptions and beliefs are significantly disconnected from reality.
... So what differentiates psychosis from having hallucinations, then?

Hallucinations are things one perceives that have no external stimulus.

An Illusion is a distorted perception to an external stimulus.

A Hallucination is me suddenly seeing floating pink elephants around me. An Illusion is every word I type looking like a pink elephant instead.

Psychosis can refer to single episodes of an occurence (Can be drug induced or as a result of some or another illness) and is at the same time differentiated with "Psycopath", which is a whole other thing.

Nothing, really. Having hallucinations are one possible symptom of a psychosis.

It's very complex, and no one official list exists. The other wiki has a useful article.

Yesterday I watched Inside Out.

I feel that the movie was a very excellently psychologically inspired. I spotted demonstration of clinical, social, development psychology, as well as Paul Ekman's theory of emotions, depression, and adjustment disorder.

....and that's about it.

.....well, I wasn't exactly a star psych major student before dropping out. XP

Anyhow, I think it was more meant for adults, especially parents or/and those working in psychology field.

Of course, it's just a splendid work of film in general. It has all my recommendation. :)

It's not a completely unrealistic depiction of how long-term memory works, once you take out the animated janitorial crew.

One more year and I will have my Ph D...so long as I cut my clinics by half and am in class for that time...

Be poorer but finish my Doctorate faster, be more economically stable and be stuck in college for longer?

My kids are great. I'm thinking cutting down on clinics and just getting that Title asap.

I would vote for getting out of school faster. It'll keep sucking the life out of you unless you do. Go for it.
