...I have no idea how I missed that. So yeah, way too many magical girls this season

Eh, better that than too many harem shows.

[up] But not as good as too many mecha shows.

What am I saying, there can never be too many mecha shows!

Other than Mazinger, Gun X Sword, EVA, the original Gun Buster, G Gundam and The Big O, I've never really liked any giant mecha show.

Infinite Ryvius was many things, but it wasn't a mecha show.

I have no problems with mecha, but I never really understood why they're as popular as they are

Because Hot Blood, Plus Giant Robot, plus Reality bending to your will equls awesome. And the model kits and toys sell like wild fire. Star Driver is also pretty cool, as well. GALACTIC BISHOUNEN!

And Symphogear isn't much of a tradtional Magical Girl show (Those are considered outdated even in japan) like Sally The Witch and Her ilk, so much s more like Nanoha, Mai Hime, or their child friendly equivalent in Pretty Cure rather then somethign tradtional.

I don't mind those at all. Hell, I'd like a Vividred Operation and Symphogear Crossover myself.

Magical Girl Warrior shows are a subset of the Magical Girl genre, so Symphogear counts.

True, But I still think that Magical Girl Warrior series are more tolerable compared to traditional series (At least world wide).

Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA, Il Sole penetra le illusioni, and the new Symphogear are all Magical Girl Warrior series, so I'm not sure what the complaint is.

So was Sailor Moon ever officially delayed?

I'll go against the general trend here and say that I prefer harem over mecha and magical girl shows (for some reason I really don't like mecha, and generally magical girl shows aren't my cup of tea. Of course, exceptions would be if they overlap with harem. Which would make a bit of sense for the former (though the mecha parts would still turn me off some), but for the latter, examples (if any) would be few and far between.

That said, I've only really started watching anime after the MMORPG I played announced its imminent closure, so I'm just going by my manga tastes (which shouldn't be too different from anime tastes anyway). But I digress.

Now that I think about it, it does make sense that I found Summer '13 uninteresting for me.

I prefere mecha over any other genre, or I would be, if everything weren't Gundam or EVA. But as long as there is such works like Full Metal Panic, Break Blade or Argento Soma (only awesome EVA ever) I am happy panda.

I think everyone just keeps forgetting Sailor Moon's presence in the lineup because, unlike Kaleido Ilya, we don't have any images for it yet. I hope it doesn't mean it will be eventually delayed (shouldn't we have ANYTHING AT ALL by now?), but no official delay has been announced at this point.

I'd probably say by may at the least there should be something Sailor Moon related.

Sailor Moon has a figure coming out in August, if that indicates anything at all...

I wonder what Art style they use?

I seriously hope they don't go the Dragon Ball Kai route. (Burr)

The fact that we don't even have character concepts by this point is puzzling. For example Pre Cure, Toei's other pre-eminent Mahou Shoujo franchise, will usually have a clue as to what the next entry in the franchise's designs will be via its merchandising department jumping the gun (it's how Smile and Doki-Doki's lineup got spoiled for example).

Still, as long as the redesign isn't too radical, it'd be fine.

Oh, and apparently there was enough (I assume negative) exposure to Sparrow Hotel's airing on BOTH sides of the Pacific that the director announced that the DVD release will have the character designs and art redone. Which likely won't be cheap, as they'll have to redo EVERYTHING. It's counter-productive, especially when 3-5 minute shorts are supposed to be made on the cheap anyway (see Morita-san and Chitose Get-chu)?

Also I think the designs aren't the problem. If they redo the designs, but don't do anything about the production quality (which is to say, looks very dated), then it STILL won't help.

Huh. It doesn't even have the worst character designs this cour.
