I was watching AVGN's "Nintendo Power" video, and at one point he mentions a contest that Nintendo Power promoted once to be an extra in "The Mask II". Obviously such a thing never happned, since there was no "The Mask II", unless, s James Rolfe poited out, they meant "Son of the Mask" which didn't happen until over 10 years later. And, even then they probably didn't live up to the bargain.

So, can anyone think of other contests or sweepstakes that were done by companies, that for the most part never hd a winner, or just simply never happened?

I know AVGN also talked about "Sword Quest".

If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.

Doritos once held a contest with Halo Wars, that whoever won the special bag would get a voice cameo in the game. It was never announced who won or what voice role they played.

I think a contest winner had their scene completely deleted in one of later Halloween films.

There was a contest in Japan to find a Real Life Kosaku Shima, a Gary Stu wish-fulfillment businessman from a manga. The contest failed due to a lack of participants, because Kosaku Shima is that accomplished as a character.

There was an On Star contest from after Batman and Robin but well before Batman Begins that was supposed to get the winner an appearance in the "next Batman film." At the time, On Star was using Batman and Alfred in some of it's ads (mostly Alfred, played by the gent who played Alfred in the Burton/Shumacher films). I remember thinking at the time that the contest couldn't be legit, because there were at the time no plans for another Batman film.

Not a movie, but one of the most infamous of contests not completing was Swordquest.

Ah, I recall another now. There was a LEGO writing contest to write the ending of an Alpha Team story, which cut off with battling Ogel before he froze time. Since either not enough people participated or wrote terrible endings, the next issue of the story was a crossword puzzle. That's right, a crossword puzzle. Talk about Gainax Ending.

Should have submitted my story, which I forgot to out of laziness. It had the T-rex summoned by Ogel early come back and eat him. Maybe I still have it in my desk somewhere.
