The sixth contest prompt was to write a story based on a song.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdWatermelon
Concerning the themes of the previous contests, and starting at #2 since that was our first "official" one:
- Now and Then: Stories were to utilize a time skip that compared and contrasted the characters, setting, a everything that might have changed over a period of time.
- Dreams: Stories had something to do with that thing that happens when you sleep.
- One scene from multiple PO Vs: Pretty self-explanatory. A single event witnessed by different people.
- Combine two or more of the following into an elegant and well-crafted entry: Several genres or ideas were produced and the stories had to combine them into a coherent story.
- Music: Stories were based on a song with the mood and lyrics having significant influence on the prose.
- Work With What You Got: Four random items were picked and the stories somehow had to make these items relevant to the plot.
Alright, thanks for telling me. Now I got some ideas for what to do in case of a rainy day... If I ever get a metaphorical rainy day. But still, thanks.
Welp, for this contest, mind if I return as the...er...what do ya call it? The guy who everyone hands in his/her entry to. The goffer? Or something like that.
As for the contest prompt, how about every entry must have the same first sentence, and the same last sentence? Whatever the two sentences are, is something to be decided on later.
"And you must be Jonathan Joestar!" - SueI like that one. If there will be voting, my vote goes to that one.
"..."I also really like Danna's suggestion.
I like
Complicated - because simple is simply too simple.I like danna's idea
Nice!
It was an honorI like the "same first and last sentences" concept, as well.
"And every life is a special story of its own." —The Stargazer, Mass Effect 3I like any concept.
Yes, I like the "identical beginning and ending sentence" prompt.
Do we have enough suggestions for a vote yet?
There have been a fair few, though a not inconsiderable amount are similar to others. I suggested "Everyone has to use the same two or three sentences somewhere," without specifying they had to be the first and last sentence, for instance.
Still, I'd call for a vote. I want to tackle a new writing project!
"And every life is a special story of its own." —The Stargazer, Mass Effect 3I second on the voting part.
Complicated - because simple is simply too simple.Should we holler for a crowner?
You read a book from the end, and catalougue your feelings from the book until you reach the first page.
The world isn't ready for giant T4 combustion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GbpGiYmBSs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKm9That one is essentially a reverse liveblog. We want original fiction.
I got it! Use the final sentence of a story, and use it as the first sentence for your story!
Put me up for "identical beginning and ending sentence" as well. I think that sounds pretty sweet.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min Kim(strolls into the thread with a discreet cough) Erm, if there are no objections, shall we procure a thread to judge potential concpets, then? I'm rather eager to try my hand at an entry.

"And every life is a special story of its own." —The Stargazer, Mass Effect 3We can just use this thread, I would think. Just ask people to contribute opinions on existing ideas and save any new ideas for the next contest.
Although it seems* like the "everyone uses the same first and last sentence" idea is the most popular.
I certainly support it! And thanks for the explanation; this is the first writing contest I've been part of from the beginning, so I don't really know procedure.

Page topper!
Currently, I'm planning to be a judge for the upcoming contest, unless I manage to write something for once.
