SO it continues.
Maybe they should take a break to develop longer.
I'd hate to think they are using the AC 3 system again...Yuck.
I'm not digging this yearly thing.

Why do I have a feeling this is due to the positive feedback toward the naval battles?

This is due to the positive feedback toward the naval battles.
Well, I guess that even though it's not quite the same time period as III, nor is it with the same character, their similar enough that they can still reuse many of the assets from III to shorten the development cycle. I just hope it's not too short of a cycle.

this place needs me hereThey're gonna Tony Hawk / Guitar Hero this franchise at this rate.
The naval battles in III had great presentation and were better than anything else I've seen of it's type (which counts for nothing, because I personally haven't seen anything else of its type), but when it comes down to gameplay, they didn't really blow me away.
this place needs me hereJudging by the way AC usually works, they'll probably set it at the end of the golden age of piracy so we could have that "There was a time a pirate was free to make his own way in the world, but our time...is coming to an end." talk and lots of reminiscing on the end of his age and what it'll cause, e.t.c e.t.c
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Before they hung him from the gallows, these were the last words he said:
"If you want my treasure it's yours for the taking, I put everything I own in that one Piece."
From that day, Assassins and Templars from all over set sail, beginning the Great Pirate Era!
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. So uh...you think they'll pull back the ancient civilization stuff and focus on the history stuff this time?
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!Well, it's piracy. Piracy can be a fun history subject. Also easy to make conspiracies: You see, I can literally count on my fingers how many famous pirates didn't die a horrible death in battle/in the gallows. You can just say Lt.Manyard (a.k.a the guy who killed Blackbeard) worked for the Templars or something. There is also the fact most pirates are Shrouded in Myth on one way or the other.
In particular, there was one pirate called Roque Braziliano. Whose real name was neither Roque nor braziliano, nobody knows where he was born and nobody has a single goddamn clue where he went. He just vanished off the map after some history period.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I'm okay with that kind of conspiracy, I just want hem to tone down the super advanced ancient humans thing.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally! Not a fan of the series, but pirates are cool.
Estimated shipping time: 2-4 weeks.Eeeeh. Much as I like the AC series, Ican't say I'm too crazy about this. I was hoping for something involving Shao Jun.
Swordplay and writing blog. Purveyor of weeaboo fightin' magic.Well, I was hoping for something set in Brazil because an old rumour that AC was going to be set in South America. Also I'm brazilian so PATRIOTISM.
It seems they either changed their mind or they're going to talk about South American piracy [which did exist, but would be a hella weird setting].
But Pirates are awesome, so I'm looking forward to it either way.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Cautiously optimistic. The naval battles were amazing, but I sorta worry too much of it might make them grow stale and repetitive. ACIII kept them few but varied enough to be fun.
I'm just worried that this is coming out a bit too quickly. If its using AC 3's engine that shouldn't be too bad but I'm going to be a bit wary if a main game (as opposed to sub sequels like Brotherhood and Revelations) comes out this quickly. Especially considering how poorly polished the last 20% of III was.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Obligatory YARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Has three even been out for a year?
The naval battles were fun but a bit underdeveloped. If they further refine it I might rent this. Course the more AC games I play the more I think the assassin part is sort of misleading. And the creed is sort of ignored for the most part.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?III has been out just over year. They use different teams on different iterations. So Black Flag has actually been in development for at least a year now. And it wont be out till next spring at the earliest.
There's not been a lot of great pirate games lately, the very poor Risen II comes to mind, and the naval battles from III are perfect for the setting. Provided they expand upon them of course.
I will freely admit I'm still hoping for a title featuring Shao Jun though in future. But being a badass Pirate has great potential.

The planet is fine. The people are f**ked. - George CarlinSo does that mean the good team did this one?
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!I hope they do more with the next gen console versions than just pretty up the graphics.
this place needs me hereIs there some reason we can't discuss this in the main Assassin's Creed thread? It's not like that thread is overwhelmed with conversation at the moment.
I will lock this unless someone comes up with a valid reason to keep it separate.
