LOL. The thing is mechanically you can re-skin your ninja as an "assassin with a lot of ninja like abilities" and it would work fine on land. If most of your pirates skills are based on running a ship you can call it a gunslinger, berserk er, Viking, but it's still not going to be useful most of the time.

Anyhow, does it tell much of me as a person that my first Pathfinder character concept over year ago was self mutilating(because Zon-Kutlon or whatever that god's name was) cleric who wears a wax mask? tongue

My first Shadowrun char concept is basically cyborg ex-corporate executive murder hobo...

At least my idea for Pathfinder Society(Which I never ended up going to because of time problems and shyness <_<) was just a tengu ninja :P Thats prettynormal

Put your Barbarian, Rouge, and/or Gunslinger in a pirate hat.

To bad I don't have one, I'm to busy running a ponyfinder campaign. Got a nice crew for that though. Odd assortment but works.

Phoenix Wold Druid that focuses on natural attacks. Will take a few feats to get it set up, but once he has them could be quite fun.

His animal companion is an otter that is set up to be a thief.

Two sorcerers, Unicorn and Pegasus one focused on evocation, mostly fire or light based spells. the other on wind spells and enchantments.

A bard that has an extremely low IQ and is mostly child like. Fun group. Then again any group where half of them are scared of an otter has to be doing something fun.

Actually, as my character concept is basically "Edward Kenway in a fantasy setting", just making a regular Gunslinger with the backstory of a pirate would work.

My group's most consistent players involve a Obfuscating Stupidity barbarian, a Technical Pacifist cleric who is generally polite and proper, and a magus that REALLY REALLY has a grudge against the cult we're fighting. So this scenario happens after we've managed to survive against ridiculously overpowered cult members.

Magus: Hang them as an example.

Cleric: (Me) But these are all non-core races. It doesn't look like "don't mess with us cult" it looks like "we don't like your kind here"

Barbarian: (who had recently also taken a level in cleric incidentally) These are bad guys but I'm not sure that that's what they do in this country.

Cleric: Look remember last time we just left these people's bodies in the middle of nowhere. They resurrected one of them.

Barbarian: Ah so.

Cleric: Cremation and scattering the ashes.

Magus: We'll decapitate them hang them then...

Cleric: What? What would be the point of that?

Magus: We leave them up for people to...

Cleric: You know we don't have all day here, you need to burn all of them.

Magus: But...

Me: Diplomacy. Natural 20!

Cleric: Moving along now. But seriously what were you thinking?

GM: Drop it.

I guess you could do it as paladins who're privateers.

Anyone played around with the Shadowdancer Prestige class? Two levels of it gain you Hide in Plain sight so long as you're within ten feet of a shadow of some kind, evasion and uncanny dodge. For a two level dip that is actually quite nice for my planned Fighter Barbarian build. Think of the guy in heavy armor suddenly being able to hide everywhere. [nja]

I sure hope your heavy armor is made of mithril or has some variety of the shadow enhancement, because you're still taking an armor check penalty to your Stealth check. Sure you can hide in plain sight; that said, in standard plate mail, you're looking at a -6 to that check.

As for a pirate paladin... yeah, he'd have to be a privateer. And for that matter, almost certainly at war.

So, my PFS group had one of the best ways of interrogating someone today. Bards can Fascinate, then Suggest using their bardic song. Demoralazing lowers someone's saves. We had four Viking/Ulfen guys in the group, all with bonuses to Intimidate. So we all yelled at the victim for a straight minute, and he was so frazzled from the insane intimidate check that he succumbed to the bard's music.

@643 Was this an epic use of Intimidate or something? Just like bonuses of the same type don't stack, penalties don't either - it should have been only a -2 penalty to resist the bardsong regardless. Just with an absurd bonus to said Intimidate check.

@644 *golf clap* Well played, good sir.

One guy, the Viking, had a boon where members of the same faction, if assisting him, gave +2 extra. One of the other Taldor Ulfen, the Cavalier, gave an additional +1. So, on top of the Viking's intimidate, he was getting +11 from the other Ulfen assisting him. Its just -2, but it lasted long enough to shake up the victim for bardic mind-probing.

Seems odd to need a boon for that - while the rules state that you can't always benefit from multiple people using Aid Another, an Intimidate check seems like one where you could. Unless, of course, only one other person had ranks in Intimidate, meaning that they'd be about break even on the DC 10 Aid Another check.

It would have been really fun if you had an appropriate masterwork tool to give you an additional +2 circumstance bonus to the check. I imagine an appropriately fearsome-looking helmet would be the appropriate tool for Intimidate. And hey, spending 50 gp for a +2 to a skill sounds like a sound investment to me.

So, I made a new character, and the party keeps complaining that I'm overpowered, but I'm really not, especially compared to the frickin tinker and ranger!

I AM, however, a blind summoner with disassociative personality disorder and religious delusions, who believes that I'm hosting the angel Raziel. Also, the DM keeps forgetting whether I'm a guy or a girl, soooooo it's been ruled that my sex randomly changes with whatever the DM says.

As for actual gameplay, I'm pretending to be a normal blind guy, though I get around okay thanks to an antipalladin ally and deathwatch as an at-will. The only usages of my abilities are severely hampered by the fact that I can't obviously do anything magical or face a guillotine.
