In that case I wnat to see hin defend Celestia circa reflections after his Flash analisys
Well, yes. That was the point I was trying to make. Trixie is an interesting alternative though.
I haven't even finished this scene. There's lots more to do there. I've got loads more to discuss, including his attitude to love, relationship with his family, thoughts on politics, dreams for the future, philosophy, background etc. We're far from done.
We'll see if you continue to say that once I'm done.
Maybe because I identify heavily with Twilight and Nice Guys (though Flash and I are very different despite being Nice Guys and having similar tastes in women)? Look, I identify with Twilight very easily. I get into her head, so I see things the way she does. Here she's the POV character, so I'm seeing him the way she does (Admittedly, I don't think he'd really be my type if I was a girl, but showing interest in me would already put him leagues ahead of most).
People call him a generic Nice Guy, but as a cynic, I see noting generic about niceness. It's a rare and valuable commodity that should be cherished and it's one of the reasons I enjoy the show. He was the vehicle that brought that magic we associate with Equestria into the human world and made Twilight and I believe.
EDIT:
Then there's this. For example, Pinkie might be my least favourite of the Mane Six of the Mane Six, but if someone was seriosly suggesting she be written out, i'd jump to her defense.
@Morning Star: Unfortunately, I've yet to read that and am thus unqualified.
EDIT: Also, I plan to write him in the future and use him in his capacity as a character beyond his relationship with Twilight (in fact, they'll barely appear together and he'll be the more important character).

I would actually like to see that honestly. While I may disagree with you on Flash Sentry I would be curious to see how you would write him. It seems like it would be pretty interesting.
Stepping away from Flash Sentry you said extending the movie would fix a lot of the problems of the film. So I ask you what would you do to fix the movie if given the chance to?

"If you look for the light, you can often find it. But if you look for the dark, that is all you will ever see."See, here's the thing:
All this right here?
I'm not seeing any of the in the movie. You're extrapolating it from what little we see of him and then defending him based on that interpretation, while most other people (myself included) are judging the character based solely on what the movie actually shows. There's nothing wrong with seeing the potential in the character and liking him for it, but you can't expect everybody else to make that same extrapolation. If you want them to like the character, you need to prove that what he actually does in the movie justifies him rather than claiming that you can interpret the character in a way that justifies him.
TL;DR here's a sort of pattern-based metaphor. If what information we're given about Flash in the movie is the number sequence (1, 2), then you're taking that sequence and extending it into (1, 2, 4, 8, 16), while everyone else is just taking the (1, 2) and not adding anything, or more optimistically, they're extending it into (1, 2, 3, 4).
Reaction Image RepositoryThat last part seems almost like Flanderization

Yeah I'm with JT here. You are basicaly creating your whole own fanon about Flash, and expecting people to accept it as true and see just how logical those ideas are based on how little we got.
@Mio It's manly the dealing with traits that were only displayed in the beginning and then it being stretched to fans interpretation of his other appearances to me.

Here's my viewpoints of the two films so far: Equestria Girls(even though I like the film as a pilot) is heavily cliche ridden. The writers can dump a whole bunch of cliches to make Hasbro happy.
Rainbow Rocks is where DHX can now have the freedom to do pacing and actually give the characters development when the first film was just to appease Hasbro's need for a new spin-off ip. This is why I'm excited for this film.
Seeing the fan reaction of these sneak previews just tells me that the ip is going in a positive direction.
Yeah, everything I've seen so far makes me cautiously optimistic. They're actually referencing Sunset's history, and the new bad guys are actually getting some decent development.
Reaction Image RepositoryNot just that, but as we stated before, the sirens are acting as their own characters. Thinking of each other as equals rather than a Discord and Tirek/Snips and Snails situation.
Think the Diamond Dogs will get characterization in a later entry?
Well, now that they've got the world and it's characters established, they can probably start polishing it a bit now. It's sort of like the beginning of the series. Most people don't really care for the first couple of episodes, but when the ball gets rolling, people really liked it.
I was pretty lukewarm about the first one, and I'll go in with that mindset for the second one, but I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up as a Surprisingly Improved Sequel for myself and many.
Maybe in the Equestria Academy thing they will?
"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkThat's what I was thinking. The Diamond Dogs in the main series seem like one offs but the jocks in this universe look like they got a story arch going for them. Especially that DHX went the effort to make a short all about them.
Really my only issue is them using the real twilight again.
Yeah, I honestly don't get that either. Mainly because it would actually be really good gimmick to have Sunset filling that slot. There would finally be something that makes the spinoff distinct beyond "it's in high school!" because Sunset would cause a different character dynamic.
Reaction Image RepositoryHas Equestria!Twilight really been confirmed?
Actually, this movie would be a good setup for Twilight to pass the torch to Sunset. Obviously, they can't summon her every time something goes wrong.
I'll take a gamble that this movie ends with Sunset taking Twilight's place in the band, as both a symbolic gesture and a meta in-joke.

"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkI'd be okay with that.
Reaction Image RepositoryMy money is that's what will happen.
If this film closes Twilight's chapter so they can continue on focusing on the other world, that would be perfect. Flash could go through the "five stages of separation grief" and Sunset could have her own closure. I really want to see this series become it's own person rather than a plucky annoying younger sibling to the brony community.
Honestly, if this movie doesn't reference the fact that Sunset is Twilight's singing voice, I'll be a little disappointed. Even if it's just a little throwaway line.
"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkBasically, we need this to happen.
Anyways, I'm of the opinion that the first movie was So Okay, It's Average. Its enjoyable, far beyond expectations (which were pretty low), but its not the greatest piece of children's entertainment since The Lion King, and that's not a bad thing. Rainbow Rocks has the opportunity to improve. With Rock & Roll.
Going back to the "Battle of the Bands" clip, I noticed Sonata Dusk randomly strums Flash's guitar. Probably doesn't mean much, but it makes me wonder if they'll make Sonata or one of the other Dazzlings take a liking to Flash, continuing his trend of attracting extra-dimensional women.
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you!I gtg. We had a power shortage due to a failed transformer and odds are me and my family won't get enough power for charging until tuesday I have an hour left and apparently the power should be back by tomorrow morning.
