Given what happened with Alaric, couldn't Elena cross over into Mystic Falls with someone who knows CPR, get herself revived after her vampirism is undone, and become human again?

[up] I was thinking they could start rounding up vampires, take them across the line and then use CPR to revive them. It's a ready made cure. I mean, obviously CPR isn't perfect, but it worked on Alaric.

And I wonder what would happen if they did it to Klaus. Would all vampires descended from him die, be cured, or be unaffected.

It would really only work for vampires who died from treatable causes. If they died from, say, getting their neck snapped, then having a doctor on hand isn't going to fix them.

As far as Klaus goes, they speculated in Season 4 that turning him human would break the link between him and the vampires descended from him, meaning he could be killed without causing his whole bloodline to die. That was just their speculation, though; it's something there doesn't seem to be a precedent for in the show's universe.

I'm hoping Alaric's humanity is temporary for two reasons.

1) If he really "died" as Stefan stated, then his compulsion over Elena should have broken. I mean Elijah's compulsion over Katherine broke when he was stabbed by the white oak ash/dagger, so the same not happening to Elena would be a really noticeable Plot Hole.

2) Humans in TVD are generally worthless, so turning Ric back into one will just put him on the sidelines more. Especially since Matt has the last remaining Gilbert ring, which I remember doesn't work anymore since The Other Side is gone.

Honestly, this last episode really disappointed me. It showed just how desperate the writers are to stall the Delena situation. Elena wants her memories back? Nerf Alaric so that we can keep this story thread going... even though that should jog Elena's memory. Barring that, she already knows how to break compulsion - walk into Mystic Falls for a few seconds.

Remind me, was Mikael and Esther's firstborn always a female? I could have sworn it was mentioned originally in Vampire Diaries that the firstborn was a male. Unless I was mistaken.

wait, what? Esther is not the Big Bad? All this drama is due to Esther making A Deal With The Devil with her elder sister Dalia, and the consequences thereof? So that makes Dalia the Bigger Bad? The Dreaded? Considering that Esther had a BSOD at Klaus' rejection of her final offer.

and Klaus' biological father is back from the dead. And Klaus doesn't care. Why do I get the feeling Mikael is going to kill him...again?

Marcel is pragmatic. I've been wondering for a while why some Vampires (who side with Klaus) don't stockpile some of his blood.

Double post

Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 7

The Elena/Damon/Liam confrontation was almost as awkward as I envisioned, but on the plus side, Damon didn't kill him.

Stefan and Enzo go all Jack Bauer on Trip Fell as the begin/continue to interrogate, while Matt watches. Starting off (on-screen) with Stefan smashing Trip's hand with a hammer. Stefan leaves Enzo alone with trip for 2 hours to continue the interrogation as he goes to warn Caroline. Trip reveals he has 'contingency plan' in case anything happened to him: his sidekicks ran Sherrif Forbes off the road and kidnapped her at gunpoint. The ultimatum: return Trip or the Sheriff dies.

I'd say there's a 'shoot the sheriff' joke in there, but without a deputy (that we know of), it's just not complete.

Remember when Mala Kai said he went Kill Em All on his family? And that sister he tried to de-spleen? Turns out, in the present, that sister is still alive, and is none other than that doctor Witch whose name I don't know. Which means she's also from the Gemini Coven. And she put her Magic away somewhere for safekeeping.

Bonnie's still alive, but since she's not the intended eternal prisoner of 1994, she does not have Mala Kai's brand of Immortality, so she's still wounded from the previous arrow. And in the end, she screws Mala Kai over by putting her Magic away, this time inside her teddy bear, and sent it to the present. So now Bonnie's powerless and can't get them out, and has no Magic for Mala Kai to steal. A rather quick variation of the trope, assuming I'm using it correctly.

So Elena tries to undo the Compulsion by entering the MFB (Mystic Falls Border). Unfortunately, there are complications: it's not that simple, and in order to undo all the Compulsion, she has to stay in the border long enough, which would also kill her.

The hostage exchange happens at the MFB, at which point everyone finds out Enzo's dickish actions: during those 2 hours, he turned Trip into a Vampire offscreen, and when Trip entered the MFB, his fatal wound kicked in. A slashed throat.

Damon decides to 'let Elena' go' (and actually says those words). Which made me assume that the Sire Bond returned for a while.

Liam's digging about the Whitmore girl's miraculous recovery causes a confrontation with Elena. The ultimatum: come clean about her secrets, or he will (attempt to) find out about them himself.

Damon finds Bonnie's Magic-loaded bear

How does the MFB affect untriggered Werewolf Curses? What would happen if Tyler killed someone inside Mystic Falls?

Although, considering that Werewolves and Witches pre-date Vampires and are apparently more 'natural', maybe the effects of the MFB are different.

So, barring Mala Kai, who's the bad guy of the season?

[up]The Travelers Magic Field Boundary only applied to Spirit Magic. Werewolves are probably not spirit magic (unlike Vampires) or Tyler would have come back as pure human?

And isn't it Malachai?

Yes I know his name is Malachai, but since he goes by the nickname Kai, I felt like combining them.

Much like I toyed with the idea of Koleb (Kol+Kaleb) and Finncent (Finn+Vincent)

...wait, was your question referring to the spelling of the name Malachai, or to whether Mala Kai actually is the Big Bad of the season?

At first I thought he was kind of minor, or a decoy boss (like Katherine in season 2), but considering his connection to the Gemini Coven and to that doctor Witch (what was her name?), and his nasty ability, things may escalate to where he is a big threat.

At least, in 1994 there's only him and Bonnie, the latter of which stored away her Magic to deprive him of a power source, and that any Magic he steals is only temporary.

But if (and probably when) he escapes (with or without Bonnie, but most likely with), there will be Liv, Luke, the doctor Witch (his sister), potentially dozens of other nameless/offscreen Witches (including the rest of the existing Gemini Coven) for him to drain, which would allow him to be a fairly large threat.

But again, it's temporary. Unless he has a way to keep the stolen Magic indefinitely.

It's never been explained where werewolves came from. Judging by what happened with Tyler, it seems like the Mystic Falls effect will undo the activation of a werewolf curse, but still leave people with the potential to become one. Sorta like how witches can't use magic in Mystic Falls, but are able to use it once they leave.

Speaking of issues, Davina's got major trust issues now, after her new almost-BFF Kol-eb betrayed her trust. Or did he? I mean, obviously Marcel got to him, so maybe Marcel got the WOS (White Oak Stake) from him as well.

I think Jackson learnt his archery skills from Ansel

leaving Ansel's corpse in the exact same pose Mikael did a thousand years ago was a little extreme, though. But it IS Klaus after all

so how is this working? Jackson, Hayley and Elijah in some kind of love triangle. A Werewolf, a Hybrid and a (Original) Vampire. Speaking of inter-species pairings, Josh (Vampire) and Aden (Werewolf) seems to potentially be a thing. Then there was Finn-cent, Camille, Marcel, Klaus (not at the same time)

Is it supposed to be a thing on both Vampire Diaries and Originals for the main characters to display moments of hypocrisy?

The Mikaelsons go on and on about 'family', and yet how many families have they selfishly and needlessly torn apart, ruined or slaughtered?

Also, it turns out that the late Father Kieran's collection of dark magical objects was actually Kol's that the latter had previously stashed all around New Orleans. I'm certain that's a Chekovs something trope.

Also, I had been wondering if the Mikaelson siblings, being the children of a Witch, had ever been Witches themselves before their Vampirism. And it turns out that Kol (not Rebecca as I always imagined) was the 'child prodigy' Witch, and was apparently the only one who practiced Witchcraft at the time.

Remind on how the Werewolf Healing Factor works. I get that

  • in human form it's generally inferior to Vampire healing
  • it can be kickstarted by silver

But other than that, was that slash across the chest really sufficient to kill Ansel?

I'll be commenting on two episodes so this might be long post. And possibly disjointed.

Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 8

  • It is confirmed that Jozette (Alaric's doctor Witch love interest; I finally remembered her name) and Mala Kai are siblings...twins in fact. And they're the older twin siblings of another pair of twins, our very own Lukas and Olivia aka Luke and Liv.
  • Mala Kai's endgame is revealed: in the case of twins in the Gemini Coven (symbolic name indeed), in order to become Coven Leader, after their 22nd birthday the twins must merge. Although in this case, merging is more along the lines of Namekian Fusion, where the one twin (the stronger one) assimilates the other, Magic and all. Mala Kai plans to escape 1994 and merge with his twin Jozette, and since he's the stronger, she'll cease to exist.
  • Since Luke and Liv have also recently turned 22, they're expected by the Coven to also undergo this merge, which explains Liv's recent sour attitude. The idea of assimilating/killing your twin is not a pleasant one.
  • The Salv-Alaric Trio (Stefan, Damon and Alaric) take a trip to Oregon (however you spell it) to the Gemini Coven (which Stefan declared a dead-end 4 months previously). There it is revealed that the 'dead-end' is the result of a cloaking spell to hide the Gemini/Parker family house (and their patriarch). This cloaking spell is circumvented by Magic - in this case Stefan unknowingly punting Bonnie's Magic-loaded bear at the house out of frustration (at Damon and Alaric's constant egging for him and Caroline to deal with their...tension).
  • Jozette's father tries to kill her to prevent the risk of Mala Kai ever merging with her.
  • Meanwhile, in 1994, Mala Kai kidnaps/drags Bonnie to the 1994 version of the Gemini house. His goal, to find and retrieve Jozette's stored Magic.
  • To prevent her father from killing her, Jozette (via phone call) invites Stefan into the Re-cloaked house after telling him where her Magic is - a knife (the very one Mala Kai tried to de-spleen her with all those years ago) hidden in a tree stump, in order to undo the cloaking spell, allowing Stefan to interrupt the killing spell.
  • While trying to save Jozette, Elena reveals her Vampiric nature to Liam - and later mindwipes him to forget not only that, but that they ever had a thing.
  • Mala Kai finds the 1994 version of Jozette's Magic-loaded knife, drains it's power and stabs Bonnie - he came to the conclusion that it's not so much a Bennett Witch that's needed for the Ascendant spell so much as any Witch can do it, provided they have the blood of a Bennett (which is currently on the knife). He then leaves the incapacitated Bonnie stranded in 1994!Oregon as he makes his way to 1994!Mystic Falls
  • the present-day Ascendant was in Jozette's possession all along. Meaning that besides obtaining the knife, Team Salv-Alaric went all the way to Oregon for nothing.
  • Damon exploits Alaric's newly-regained humanity by compelling him to get hold of Jozette's Ascendant by any means necessary

Originals Season 2 Episode 8
  • Klaus and Elijah begin 'persuading' Finn-cent and Kol-eb to stand with them against Esther.
  • Elijah starts becoming more...violent. No doubt a side effect of Esther's mental torture.
  • Marcel reveals what he did with Kol and the WOS to Davina.
  • Rebecca returns. With Hope. And followed by Esther (via starling familiars). Elijah goes to see them.
  • Camille wakes up with no memory of her last actions. Turns out Esther 'prepared' her to be a vessel/host-body for...Rebecca.
  • Jackson and Hayley discover a secret in a Ansel's journal (actually Jackson's journal, but everything in it is what her was told by Ansel) about Werewolf bloodlines. Some bloodlines have certain specialties like speed, strength, or tracking. And when two Alphas of different bloodlines get married in a Shamanistic ritual, all Werewolves how join/take part in the ritual/ceremony gain all the special powers. Jackson is the Alpha of his pack and Hayley is the de facto/official Alpha of the Crescent/Labonair pack. Hayley intends to make use of this ritual to distribute her Hybrid-acquired ability of Voluntary Shifting to the other Werewolves in order to break their reliance on Esther and the Moonlight Rings. Which actually was sort of foreshadowed by Jackson's statements from Season 1 that he and Hayley were initially betrothed, and that their families were 'so sure that they would change everything'. Although the Hybrid nature was actually pleasant surprise.
  • Finn reveals the truth about Freya and Daliah to Klaus.
  • Davina makes use of Kemiya to turn her blood into poison and has a showdown with Klaus, baiting him (via taunts about Mikael) to try and drain her, knocking him out.
  • Josh and Aiden are an official couple. Yes, they actually kissed. Onscreen. I was surprised. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  • Davina is so caught up in her grudge against Klaus that she initially dismissed Esther as a threat. Until Kol (who had decided to join Klaus against Esther), Marcel and Camille ultimately persuaded her to set aside that grudge to deal with Esther. Her grudge-based actions have horrible timing as always, much like at the end of Season 1 with her resurrection of Mikael in the aftermath of the Fransceska Correa's treachery and Hope's birth and attempted murder at the hands of the Witches.
  • Turns out Elijah had a little...massacre before explaining Esther's 'offer' to Rebecca. After she finds out about the recent body-count, she snaps his neck, deducing that it was due to Esther's manipulation in order to draw Esther's attention to Rebecca's (and Hope's) whereabouts.
  • Klaus tells Rebecca to meet him at a certain location, before putting Finn in a coffin (with air holes - small ones) and taking him with, along with Hayley and Marcel.

I wonder how Mikael will get involved with this whole Daliah/Esther/Hope/Mikaelson drama.

Also, does Mikael have a surname?

[up]Oh thank god you posted. I was beginning to think I was the only one posting in this thread these days.

So Esther was going to use the WOS to destroy the empty Original Vampire bodies after the switch was complete? Whatever happened to Finn and Kol's bodies, considering she didn't have the stake at the time.

So, Elijah and Hayley finally did something about all that sexual tension between them. And she's still going to marry Jackson.

Mikael and Esther made a deal.

Rebekah's trapped in another body in a mansion with no escape.

Why is Enzo so butthurt about Stefan? The whole 'eternity of misery' for Stefan got old a long time ago, so much so that I can't even recall when Damon gave up on it.
